Since we sold our house last summer, we have been searching for our next property. This week we finally bought one. We ended up buying 14 acres of raw land in Kentucky. We had lost out on enough properties that we had to take a bit of a risk and make an offer without seeing the property in person. Our first time seeing it was the day before closing. The process of developing the property may be slow but we are looking forward to the challenge.

The 2 shipping container idea with the trusses will work. You can enclose it pretty easily. You provide the specs on the property. Size, cost, etc

In the driveway entrance where you are concerned, grab bags of cement and place in the culvert area to reinforce (just bags placed around area), they’ll do just fine. That black culvert if double walled will handle normal vehicles with no problem and with 1’ of cover can handle vehicles up to 72,000 lbs. “Do your own research to be sure.”

In order to get the fifth wheel (or a trailer with heavy equipment) in there we need that entrance widened anyway. We have a local excavation company adding another 20 ft of culvert and rocking it in properly. Hopefully that will be done here within the next few weeks.

Definitely. Luckily we have a lot of very skilled family members! At the minimum they can tell me when I'm in over my head and I need to hire someone.

Gorgeous land! Congratulations!!!! We are southeast Kentucky bred and raised. Where about did you end up buying?

Thanks. We are south of Richmond near the Daniel Boone National Forest. Not sure if that counts as southeast or just south. 🤷‍♂️

The truck would have handled it. But we didn’t know at first if there were any tree stumps or rocks blocking as we went up. Plus all of the thorn bushes would have scratched the daylights out of the truck. Next trip gonna clear out the thorn bushes and then will be able to drive up.

Erosion seems a major problem after the land was stripped that way.

That’s just path the the heavy equipment took up. The rest of the property has enough grasses, brush, and trees that it’s not a big concern. We will be back to the property in a few weeks to start mapping more out and see the change as spring kicks in.

Oh yes the million dollar dream .Hey when yer smack down in the holler on 1 lane road.Yah haul ass n not wait to see on coming traffic to get where your gettin.No time to dilly-dally around pulling 5th wheeler.Hahahha😊 Wondering how much driveway costs to the top?And it looks like 1/2 mile,so I’m guessing you bought 20 acres with no trees? I’d be askin neighbors about that narrow road spot that nearly washed out up to the road coming in by creek. Just some my messed up thoughts hehe Oh yer truck won’t pull 5th wheeler up that hill on fresh gravel.Need pulled up with equipment like a bull dozer.I’ve seen it ytube channel,Andrew Camarata,He’s into what you need ,been there n done it.I’m thinking he’s in the same state. I would contact him and watch some of his channel on subject of cutting uphill . He’s making rocks,all sizes,now too. Best of luck! I subbed to see!

Thanks. There are definitely some hurdles. But we are slowly overcoming them. In some of the other property videos you can see the other drive that is more usable. That will be the primary drive but will likely just be the 4x4 vehicles going to the top for a bit.

Yup. That's why it's going to be small sections at time. And the existing drive will just get widened for now. Then we will prep and add stone in sections as we can afford it.
