This is the third video in my JX-Pro series. The goal of the series is to provide more information and hopefully bring more clarity into the details of the 1Zpresso JX-Pro.
In this video I cover disassembling the JX-Pro for the purposes of doing a thorough cleaning. I then go over my cleaning routine and finally, reassemble.
Please be sure to visit 1Zpresso's blog post on cleaning for more information: 1zpresso.coffe...

your trick on removing the bottom part with the catch cup at 3:30 is a life saver. THANK YOU

Glad you found it helpful! Yeah, the catch cup seems essential to both removing as well as tightening that lower piece. And you can tell that 1Zpresso put a lot of thought into making the grinder easy to disassemble, without tools. Great overall design considerations.

Great video! About to thoroughly clean mine for the first time. I watched at 1.75x speed and got all the info perfectly!

That's great, glad it helped. I found that once I've taken it apart a few times it's been a pretty easy process. Hope that'll be the case for you as well.

Thanks Carl. I just checked out your most recent video this morning. Great content as usual. Really made me think twice about my own setup. Will elaborate further in your comments section.

I just have the regular JX because I don't do espresso, but what a great quality grinder for the low price.

Yeah, I think people should definitely consider an 1Zpresso when looking for a high-end grinder. They have a lot to choose from and I agree about the quality. I'd been using electric burr grinders up until I bought my JX-Pro thinking the overall experience wouldn't be great (i.e. hand grinding in the past was such a pain). But this grinder opened my eyes to the fact that high-end hand grinders (at least for me) are the way to go.

Лучшее видео, спасибо. С установленным бункером откручивать стационарный жернов намного проще

DO NOT LUBRICATE ladies and gentlemen.. the parts are not meant to be lubricated. You only need to scrub and wipe.

This is a great video, but I do have one question, is there anything to watch for in this process that would effect the calibration of the grinder? Mine is calibrated to zero and I would hate to screw that up!!

Wow using catch cup to remove outer burr is genius. or am I stupid? lol thanks I fanlly opened it

Great video, David! Quick question though, when you take it apart and put it back together in this fashion, will it need to be recalibrated? Is there a way to clean that will preserve the calibration the grinder had previously?
@davidmaurice1294

For the most part you can get away with just blowing out any fines with one of those cleaners they use for camera equipment: www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y1TKXVK . I use a small hand vacuum after every grind, similar to this: www.amazon.com/dp/B09N992SR3 . It's not the best quality (battery no longer charges well), but it still does the trick. Also, putting the grinder at a coarse setting can give you more room to clean it out without having to disassemble. All that being said, I've found that I pretty much make the same adjustment to get it to zero every time. So recalibrating gets easy after a while.

Hi, I feel like doing thus too much might wear out sooner the threads of the adjustment dial , do you agree?

I don't know how much of an impact it has over the life of the product, but I think that's a valid question. On the 1Zpresso site it mentions a monthly cleaning, so I'm guessing you should be safe at that frequency. I tend to take mine apart often, so maybe not so safe for me, haha. The materials are solid though, so hopefully it won't be much of an issue. I think I will probably get closer to a once a month frequency once I feel like I know the grinder inside and out. For now I still need to look into a couple of questions both myself and others have had.

I think I found it on Amazon. So it’s not a blower? I don’t know which is better air blower or vacuum?
@davidmaurice1294

This is what I ordered: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BS2392Z/ I prefer having a vacuum because it makes cleanup easier. In addition I know that people use camera lens blowers. I intend to get one of those as well. This is the one I have on my list: www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y1TKXVK

@@davidmaurice1294 you are VERY helpful. Sorry for asking so many questions. One more please. How often do you clean your grinder? And do you clean it when you change beans?
@davidmaurice1294
@davidmaurice1294 3 года назад
Hey, no problem. glad I can help. I tend to clean my grinder pretty often, probably averaging once a week. But That's mainly because I'm taking it apart a lot to try and figure things out that either myself or others have questions about. I'd say that it actually doesn't need frequent full cleanings. You can get by pretty well first with using RDT to limit retention, and then just blowing out or vacuuming the burr area. Especially if someone's apprehensive about taking it apart or worried about calibration. I'd wait until feeling comfortable taking the plunge before doing so. That said, I would probably look at a monthly cleaning as reasonable. It actually only takes a few minutes once you've done it a few times. I tend to have several beans on hand and rotate often, sometimes within the day. With such a low retention, I don't worry too much about the need to clean when I do switch. But for those who go through one bag at a time, cleaning when you change beans could be a great way to keep a schedule for maintenance.

Will you review the K plus ?
@davidmaurice1294
@davidmaurice1294 3 года назад
Sorry, I don't have that grinder. I considered it but from reviews it seemed like the JX-Pro might be better for when I'm grinding for espresso and I ended up going with that. I do like how you adjust the grind settings on the K Plus and also some of the nicer features. Getting the K Plus or a Comandante is something I'm definitely considering, but I do have a couple in mind that I'll get first. Hopefully I should be receiving the ARCO grinder in June and will probably get the Timemore Slim Plus after that.

@@davidmaurice1294 There is a new 1Zpresso JX Max model with an outside adjustment settings and 8 micron steps. Should be even more precise than the JX Pro, which has 12.5 microns, and almost twice as much as the Comandante C40 with its 15 microns. Did you get the ARCO grinder?
@davidmaurice1294
@davidmaurice1294 3 года назад
@@s-plus ARCO was delayed until October 😅. I'm not one of the early backers, so I imagine I'll be on the tail-end of their delivery. Hope there's no more delays. I did hear about the JX-Max. Looks pretty awesome. If I didn't have the JX-Pro I'd probably consider it.
