2,000°F Solar Power! Melting Metal With A Giant Magnifying Glass

In this video I test out my new giant Fresnel lens. I show how it ignites wood in about 1 second. Then I stick a rock under the lens and it immediately starts popping do to the extreme heat. The rock gets red hot under the extreme heat of the concentrated sun. Then I melt some indium metal and some soldering wire under the heat of the sun. A Fresnel lens works by using a bunch of scribed lines cut that reflect the sun towards one center spot. This is different than a curved lens that uses much more volume to achieve the same affect.

How long will it take to boil a cup of water? This lens seems like a pretty useful survival tool.

Use like a hollow brick to "trap" the light. Use another piece of stone for a lid, like a kiln. In the lid, there is a small hole to release excess heat and allow the light to enter the furnace. Just make sure the total area inside the furnace is smaller than the lens, that's why I suggested a brick. Now the heat can't immediately dissipate into the ambient air. It's trapped and can build in heat to smelt correctly. The reason that crucibles won't work is because the heat is too intense in one area. If you "trap" 50 square inches of light inside a little brick or something, it will heat up more gradually and not break your crucible (use the smallest one you can find). On a hot sunny day you should be able to smelt at least good ounce of metal inside that thing. I'm thinking like, standing it vertically and hollow it out somehow. Then your light spreads back out inside of it to avoid overheating the center. All types of trial and error things obviously need to be done but I think this is the way to do it by trapping the light inside of a stone container

ignoring the other guy, yes, in fact it will be able to reach significantly higher temperatures if still concentrating light from the sun because there will be lower transfer of heat into the air overall, this is of course if you can manage to get one to focus into a vacuum chamber and the process youre doing doesnt counteract your pump by releasing gas or expanding significantly

Ice. Water. Some meat, preferably with skin, to see what it might do to a person. Glass, maybe colored. I like the idea of stone, I wanted to see what that one would do. Maybe a more pure stone, though. A chocolate bunny similar kind of like the chocolate bunny in a hair dryer videos. An egg? Get some thin wood and cut through it. It might just catch on fire, though. Is there something you could cut? Maybe sheet metal. You definitely need something on wheels to move the stuff around. You were freaking me out with your fingers right next to the light. As many people said, get a neutral density filter for your camera. Even better, two cameras, one filtered, then edit them together. If you get the lenses close together you might even be able to do a slight perspective shift and overlay them. If you have one of those black body thermometers, see how hot you can get something.

This is purely focused solar radiation and plasma "can only be artificially generated by heating neutral gases or by subjecting that gas to a strong electromagnetic field." -Wikipedia. @@cavelvlan25 I think it needs to be mentioned that this is a point source. A lot of energy is concentrated in 1 tiny point. That is why the temperature can get so high. But this doesn't provide significantly more energy in total than just solar energy. The energy is just concentrated wich is only useful for very specific processes, like welding perhaps. But not so much for most other industrial processes. You still need an unpractically large surface area for most applications.

How can 210 dummies put thumbs down... Please read this If you haven't already out of all the ones that I've watched on magnifying glass Yours is the only one that came up with 2000 degrees of power It's a long movie but the Great pyramid k 2019 the movie No vant machine it's very interesting from beginning even till after the movie while they explain more about the power of melting Stone .... I've seen so many ways that they said how the parents were done very interesting ways but all of them fail... But the magnifying glass which they don't want it to be even talked about it's been a top secret even with the Masons... Secret societies And the Knights Templar... As a young man you should have learned about this to make videos I think you can make money with it It's very interesting So many people have become millionaires with this subject .... Of course you would have to learn so much it's great it's interesting and by time I got into it I got too old Also study Eric von Daniken Go to his podcast and that would lead you to everything about him he is the guy that started all this he's 85 years old A great person very smart Been making millions since his first book Chariot of the gods Now with this subject it's new about the magnifying glass being able to melt Stone to make bigger stones It's a subject that's going to be talked about as it grows and grows the movie came out in 2019 They don't want this subject talked about they're hiding it which they always do Because they don't want us to know.... I think you're smart enough to learn these things and to get to the real point with a magnifying glass could do... You can be a hero.

Okay so you can't 'stack' multiple magnifying glasses to increase the heat - it doesn't work like that. However you could use multiple magnifying glasses, have them side by side - except the one in the middle would be facing straight towards the object, all of the additional magnifiers would need to be angled, the further away from the mid-point you position them, the more of an angle they would need to be positioned. I'm pretty sure this is how ancient people's manage to build great pyramids out of concrete - use the lense to dry and harden the mixture.

If you think about it this could save your life if you "happen to have one" on a deserted island (long shot you would have this with you) but you could always carry one with you on planes and boat trips just in case and you could use this to start fires and cook food haha

Put an egg beneath the Fresnel lens. It'd be interesting to see it cook and potentially explode, lol.
