Great review. Scooter reviews by people who know anything about scooters are hard to find. These Wolf bikes seem to be pretty nice for the price. BTW, all the throttle pumping before starting accomplishes nothing, none of these GY6 carbs have accelerator pumps (nor do any other scooters that I've ever seen)
Thanks for watching! I know the scooter doesn't have an accelerator pump but I just can't stop myself! I sometimes catch myself doing it to fuel injected bikes too. LOL!
@@SCOOTERBILL A few years ago I had an 82 Yamaha Seca 750 that ran flawlessly and when I sold it the potential buyer showed up with his "expert" buddy to check it out. The bike had a choke (well, enrichment) lever right on the handlebar but the "expert" wouldn't use it and kept pumping the throttle and trying to start it and keep it running, on a cold day, and then told his friend he shouldn't buy the bike because it had a "starting problem". I told him about the choke and he just said he never used the choke on his late model GSXR, he just pumped the throttle a lot and it would always start. I demonstrated to the potential buyer that the bike would start and run just fine with the choke and that most 25 year old motorcycle carbs had no accelerator pumps, and that I didn't want to deal with his "expert" anymore. He bought the bike and I never heard any complaints from him.
A good video with a lot of good information. However, I almost went nuts listening to the narrator using what is commonly called "up speak" where every sentence ends on a rising voice inflection.
I noticed this vid is about 3 yrs old. Do you still recommend? Also...I'm 6' 1" 250. Is this scooter big enough for me? BTW...this will be my first ever scooter.
Did you buy this scoot online or directly from a dealer somewhere in NJ? I dont know why it can only do 55mph. Some stock mini motos with 150ccs can do 65mph stock. Its probably because of the automatic and manual transmission differences.
Sweet video. I recently just purchased a rugby and I love mine. Question for you though, my oil lamp light is on and I can’t figure out how to reset it? Have you figured that out yet?
I honestly haven’t tried to reset it or had it come on. Probably from disconnecting the battery so often. If I get a chance I’ll see if I can figure it out. I’m sure it is just pressing and holding the right buttons on the display.
Thanks for the reply! So I think it’s just an odometer for when the last oil change was. I changed my oil and the mileage changed as well. Another question for you, do you by any chance know the color of the ignition wire? I was looking to install some speakers and wanted to splice the amp into the ignition switch to keep it from pulling power from the battery when it’s off
@@casas5 ya i just messed with mine today. you reset it like your trip so you know how long since your last oil change. at first i thought it was an indicator and i was like wow thats advanced for a scooter haha
are these only available at certain scooter shops? or would ibe able to order a black 150cc online and get it shipped in a cart to my door or how would that work since we probally live far away from each other im in the tristate area in CT.. please let me know i have a 50cc i want to sell soo bad for the 150 model, its a whole new animal with 150cc... do u have to register the scooter since it has the 150cc engine? i noticed your plate figured i would ask.. thanks in advance looking forward to your wisdom... thanks.. --p3t3r
Peter. Use the dealer locator on wolfbrandscooters.com. There are several Wolf dealers in CT, I’m sure one could arrange delivery to you. The 150 is a nice increase of power over the 50cc. In New Jersey all new scooters are registered as a motorcycle. Check with your local dealer or Motor Vehicle agency on the rules in your state. Thanks for watching and commenting!
For anybody looking in the future there is a dealer in Vernon CT. And you gotta have a motorcycle license and register it as a type of motorcycle and have insurance.
Hi, Sorry to message you. I just picked up two Rugby II’s. I love ‘em. I’m a little concerned about a sound they both make under harder acceleration. It’s kinda like a gurgling sound. Light acceleration doesn’t cause the noise. They are very new. 5 miles. I’ve owned many cycles and scooters - never a Chinese scooter. Do you know what I’m talking about? Is this a normal noise? It’s not like a low octane noise. I believe the dealer put in premium. He recommended premium.
Sounds like you're just hearing the intake induction noise to me ...Full throttle will always have some intake noise that is audible to most people on an engine with quiet exhaust ... this is normal.
Typically converting from a 50cc to 150cc gy6 requires welding new motor mounts to the frame. If that's not an option, you can always install a big bore kit to get some more performance out of that 50cc. Thanks for watching!
Love the video. It convinced me of buying the scooter myself. I love the digital display. But I cannot figure out how to adjust the time. Does anyone have any idea on how to do this?
did you remove the EGR system? i noticed you didn't have the clunky hoses sitting above the rear fender. i'm considering removing mine as i think it actually rattles as i ride. appreciate the content btw! not many rugby videos out there so this helps a lot
I did rejet after changing the intake. I had the exhaust on for a while before I changed the jetting. If I remember correctly, the slow speed was 32 stock and went up to a 35, main was a 105 and went to a 110.
The Wolf scooter manuals are pretty generic. I quick internet search will find you one. The GY6 motor is the same throughout their line up. They really don't say much anyway. You Tube is your absolute for any info needed. I sent an email to Wolf from their website, they responded within 2 days.
Hey SB, I just bought a 2020 Wolf Rugby 2 ... white look just like yours... as you said great price, quality seems ok for a chinese and I know Wolf has been around for a while... I like the looks.. but first issue.. what's up with the rear view mirrors? I can't get them to adjust down... they are useless If they were made of plastic I would heat them up with my heat gun and bend them down but they seem to be aluminum... any suggestions short of tossing them and buying another pair? a bit disappointing on a brand new scoot.
Hey Mike Q. I think the issue you are having with the mirrors is related to the handlebars being adjusted up higher than the mirrors allow. You have two choices: first is the easiest, just loosen the four bolts at the handlebar clamp and adjust them down until the mirrors are good. Second being a bit more complex, is to open the switch housing and grind away the locating tab, thus allowing you to adjust the controls and leave the bars where they are. I went with the second option. Maybe I will make a video showing how I did this... I hope you are enjoying your new scooter otherwise.
@@SCOOTERBILL Hey Bill, Yep figured it out.. you are correct the switch gear was tilted to far forwards to let the mirrors tit down enough... I actually loosen each side throttle and left brakes housing and adjusted them down... the bar might have been easier but that did it... I appreciate he help.... and when you figure how to adjust the headlights up a bit, wrote her tonight for the first time and ran on high beams... but quite bright on high beams.. the twin headlights do a good job otherwise.
Jim they are standard halogen bulbs, I believe an H4, so they would be easy to upgrade to leds. Or you can add a light bar like I did. Either way you will have a lot of fun, I just liked the rugged look of the Rugby. Thanks for watching 👍🛵
I've been hibernating like a bear! Seriously though, we are working behind the scenes on some new content right now so stay tuned. Thanks for watching!
The one in the video is a cheap Amazon mount. I have upgraded to a RAM phone mount. They have several options that work. Look at the claw mount x-grip. Thanks for watching!
Just one I found on Amazon similar to this : KAJIMOTOR Exhaust System Pipe Header Muffler For GY6 engine 125cc 150cc Scooter Moped ATV (310mm Single outlet) www.amazon.com/dp/B08NG8DHR7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EJX9DBKFB6BHZNCDWGMD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Nick Reyes I have picked up many parts on Amazon for this scooter. I will be doing a video on the light bar very soon. When I do I will add links in the description of the video. Thanks for watching.
Don't know if you still need this or not but www.scooterdynasty.com/speedometerassemblyforwolfbrandscootersrugby.aspx Also, I've noticed a couple things people always ask about it: how to set the clock and what does the bottom light do. On your speedo/odo you can set the clock simply by holding "reset" on your first screen. The little light is just a "running" light. Comes on when the engine is on. I believe it's linked to the stator showing that it's working correctly. The manual doesn't say any of this. Kinda seems like even with my 2021 model that they're outdated as shit.
@@hithere4980 this picture I found on google should help. Make sure the engine is fully warmed up, then turn 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn at a time until you reach your desired idle. www.dhresource.com/0x0/f2/albu/g3/M00/32/A8/rBVaHFUvfQCAd-cLAAMx-5-zL74124.jpg
I just bought a new one yesterday but it won't stay on it idles for about 30secs then shuts off....and when i try to give it a little gas it shuts off...any ideas?
As long as it has fresh fuel in the tank I would suspect that the carburetor needs to be cleaned. Congrats on your new scoot! I hope you get it all sorted out.
I've had the same problems with mine since I purchased last year. Had the shop I bought it from work on it under warranty and never fully fix it. Have died out multiple times pulling up to stoplights
Where did you get your scooter from? I either want the wolf islander or wolf jet I’m just not sure where I should get it from or what a good website would be
I got mine from Vespa of Monmouth in Neptune, NJ. Not sure where you are located. Wolf Scooters has a dealer locator on their website wolfbrandscooters.com/find-a-dealer/
