I think you gave the best advice on chinese scooters i've seen, and as an owner of an old (2005) scooter thats my only motor transport, i agree. Chinese scooters can be good money saving hack in these hard times, so they're definitely worth looking into, and arent difficult to learn to work on. i had no knowledge on scooters before i bought mine, but i had a friend who was good at repairing them, i did my YT homework, and the rest was just a bit of practice. things to know as owner/user: 1. oil change 2. air filter cleanup (soak in gasoline, squeeze, drip some oil, squeeze, done) 3. sparkplug change and checkup 4. cvt belt change (not as dificult as it seems) 5. mix adjustment on carburettor (virtualy two screws) guess thats it. YT is chock full of videos explaining just about everything on GY6 engine. so think of it as saving cash through effort and learning. and in these weird times, you might as well have a cheap go around. mine saved me a lot of money during corona, and even enabled me to go to work at all, my work back then starting at 4AM. So i'd recommend people buying it if they are ready to learn and are looking to save some cash.

If you live in Harley land as I do you will find it is not possible to find a scooter dealer. Kymco or SYM dealers are usually hundreds of miles away. And most Honda or Yamaha dealers do not stock scooters for fear of being stuck and unable to sell them. They will only order one if you commit to buying it. At least that is how it is where I live.

Great video on addressing the number one repetitively ultimate Golden Question all subscribers/viewers Ask on Chinese scooter channels are they really worth buy ....? I hear it all the time also and pretty much say the same thing one who buys a Chinese/Taiwanese scooter will have to be willing to tinker and learn how to maintain and fix simple things most importantly oil & gear oil changes ,drive belt changes, tuning of carburetor, adjusting valves to specs , looking over bolts & screws using loctite blue on most bolts that you dont want vibrating loose...🙂 Nice coverage on the topic buddy ...👍

Hey!! WOW! That is an amazing amount of miles!! Vrroom Vrooom!! lol I ride a 2021 Lance (Sym) Cabo 125cc, which I believe is built in Thailand. I got my scoot from a dealer in Portland, paid $2200 I think....I love riding that thing, and sure wish I lived in Florida so I could ride year round....I got out on a ride yesterday - first time temps have been up in the high 50s for a while.....AMAZING day and ride, but I forgot to bring my DJI to record the ride. I hope to find a trailer to bring it with me on my trip down there, so I can stop and ride all kinds of places, then find some scooter groups while down there, and go on some group rides with the locals who know the good roads to ride....I would love love love to find a Honda HELIX in good condition, but I don't really have tools or work on bikes. I am a gal who has changed my own oil on my van, you know, easy, but....I haven't learned yet to work on the engines, even though I have watched people do these things on the videos, etc. SO, I trust the peeps who know how to do these things if I ever need help! I do change the oil on the regular, I definitely want to keep it running tight!!! WOOOOT I love a good SCOOT!! LOL! Happy riding!!!

It's always good to hear an honest opinion from a person who has experience with Chinese scooters and knows how to work on them. Great video, thank you. I want to buy a 150cc or so called 200cc (169cc) scooter, but I don't know which brand is the most reliable among the ones that can be purchased on-line. I also noticed the difference between a carb model and an EFI of the same size is $400 USD. Are the Chinese EFI units reliable? Or will I be throwing money away for a different set of headaches than a carb model? Your guidance is greatly appreciated. And no, I'm not a stranger to working with a wrench. Thanks. BTW, in poor countries most people commute with these cheap scooters. And many of these scooters have well over 70,000 KM on them. So, you are right, with regular and timely maintenance these scooters can go for a very long time.

@@troyholland3436 They are great because they're cheap to work on but that doesn't mean they're good engines. As I have told you multiple times most of these engines only make it about 10,000 miles if you're lucky. If you don't do any maintenance and you don't care for the engine at all you're lucky to see 5,000 miles. Now that means it's not a good engine but what makes it a great purchase is the fact that it only cost $50 to replace the head and the cylinder sleeve But it's only cheap if you do the work yourself. If you bought one of these and you can't work on it yourself and you constantly take it to a shop then they are crappy bikes because they're going to cost a fortune to keep on the road. Now do me a favor man stop knit picking every single little thing I say. I really don't want to have to remove you from my channel for good but you're really starting to get on my nerves. I am a new subscriber. I am retired and live in Panama. My opinion is that Chinese Motorcycles are worth owning as long as you have affordable mechanical support. In the US, an affordable mechanic might be hard to find. If you can work on them yourself they are excellent also. Where I live, we have affordable shadetree mechanics that can keep your cheapy Chino scooter running. There is no good reason to spend too much on your scooter if you live in Latino culture. Cheap to buy and cheap to maintain. Definitely worth it. Name brand scooters like Honda cost more. They are also worth it and they are cheaper than the same model in the USA.
@IFixShet

Welcome to the my channel, as you know Chinese scooters actually have Honda clone motors in them more accurately known as the GY6 engine. However the Chinese engines normally only last eight to fifteen thousand miles before they need a complete whereas actual Honda's run well into seventy thousand miles before they need any major work. Chinese scooters are good if you get them for a very cheap price but if you pay almost $2,000 for a Chinese 50 cc scooter you wasted your money you should have spent it on an actual product of Japan

I have 3 Chinese scooters, no complaints. The first one was a Panterra Retro, from Pep Boys, It would only go about 25 MPH. Until I lightened the Variator Weights with a boring bar on a lathe, Now, for about 1 hour and a half of my time, it goes 45 MPH. Lighter Variator Weights throw out at a higher RPM allowing the motor to actually get into it's power curve. I took them from 8.5 grams down to around 6 grams (about 30% lighter). It made a world of difference. You can also buy lighter Variator Weights for less than $10, if you don't have access to a lathe.

@@williamhaskellhaskell3162 If you don't have access to a lathe and a boring bar, your best bet might be to order some from ebay, Weigh your current weights. Then, if your scooter currently tops out at 6000 RPM and you'd like to get it closer to 8000 RPM (much higher and you'd be redlining the engine) 6000 / 8000 equals 75%. Start with weights that weigh 75% of your current weights. Current weight x 0.75. if you go too light your engine life could be shortened due to excessive RPM, so proceed carefully.

Remember though you only get about 5,000-10,000 Miles out of a Chinese carburetor before it has to be replaced because it will start having lots of issues.

I'll fix the important stuff but most people use their phone as a GPS speedometer it's a thousand times more accurate than the one that comes on the scooter

Depends on how much you want to modify it and how big your wallet is

As standard about 30mph. Deresricted about 40mph, but with additional tuning bits you can get a bit more. A 2 stroke 50 will be easier to tune than a 4 stroke.

That's how GoPro mono mic's work when connected to the GoPro gear. Because you can only run one microphone you only get 1 speaker So if you're listening through headphones it will only come through one headphone that's just part of motovlogging. If you disconnect your earbuds then it will play through both of your phone speakers like normal.
