I collect jars, too, and use them for all sorts of things like freezing servings of beans that I’ve cooked from scratch, or dividing a larger jar of spaghetti sauce for the freezer. I use tiny little jars for my homemade deodorant or spooning in coconut oil that I use as a moisturizer. I like reusing the heavy ziplock-style bags that contained walnuts I purchased. And, although I regret asking for the occasional plastic bag in the grocery store when I’ve forgotten my cloth ones, I do reuse them for trash. One of my most favorite reuses is that of the newspaper (given to us by a neighbor once he’s finished with it) which we read and I then fold into a shape that fits my wastebaskets. All to hopefully benefit the planet and because I’ve come to detest wastefulness of any kind. Thanks for your video!
I love the idea of freezing half the spaghetti sauce in a smaller jar! We've wasted so many jars that have gone moldy before we use the full jar, embarrassing really 😳. I'll try to remember your trick for next time. 😊
Jars definitely count. I know i have some that I'm a bit too attached to, (they're so pretty!), but you're right, more jars will come with future food, so we don't need to keep the old ones. Glass is also something i dont feel bad about recycling, because isn't it mostly 100 percent recyclable, over and over again?? Compared to plastic, which can only be recycled once or twice? Something like that! So you're right, we should almost treasure plastic more (but not buy any!)! 😅
I could probably get rid of some glass containers. I bought some with bamboo lids and the lids go all mouldy after they have been washed and stored for a while. I find them very annoying!
