I'm happy to present to you my II V I guitar lesson!
The II V I gutiar chord progression is a main part of jazz. Therefore knowing a lot of 2 5 1 guitar chords is essential for your playing.
People often forget that rhythm comping is even more impostant than soloing. First off because you'll need it more often and secondly, because the 2 5 1 guitar voicings will already outline the important tones of that chord progression .
In this guitar lesson I'll teach you how to play II V I guitar chords. I'll show you six chord sets starting from the low E-string, the A-string and the D-string. I have you covered for every comping situation all over the fretboard. This 2 5 1 guitar lesson explains all the details you need to know about the 2 5 1 guitar chord progression.
This II V I jazz guitar lesson shows you everything from beginner friendly 2 5 1 c major guitar chords to advanced Quartal Voicings. There's something for everyone. And you jsut can't have enough 2 5 1 guitar chords :-)
The II V I chord progression is used in every jazz standard. It's also called the jazz cadence. Knowing the II V I jazz guitar cadence is essential, because you'll simply need it all the time. There are so many possibilities and I'll show you sicx really cool sounding 2 5 1 guitar vocings, so your audience and yourself won't get bored. The thing is people play the same voicings all the time, so knowing more II V I chord sets is a huge advantage.
I've also made Tabs with 2 5 1 chord diagrams, which you can download from teh link in this description box. I also have a 2 5 1 backing track for each of the chord sets (2 different keys and tempi). All this fun is also included in my 2 5 1 Starter Pack , along with 4 more 2 5 1 guitar lesson (find link above) for best value.
I hope you like my II V I guitar lesson and give it a thumbs up. Please share the love and the knowledge.

Awesome lesson, Sandra, I love all the 6 sets and especially those from the D string, sounding so lovely. I absorb all your explanations on music theory. You are so good at explaining musical connections like tension chords, alterations, how to get flavor to the chords, chromatic approach, quartal voicings to get a more modern sound, moving up the neck through the D Dorian scale, upper structure chords and so on. I take so much from your videos. And I use the printed tabs to write down a lot of your information, to read it again and again and to get it into my mind. Again many thanks for your commitment.

Sandra you are just fantastic. Your instruction is so valuable and so well explained. My humble suggestion would be to do these in context of a song. Such an example might be Misty in Eb. Take the C7, F9, B7 to Eb maj7 and apply it in the substitution thoughts in this type of video. 🤔 as a hobby level player, I've been looking for a good guidance / book on chord substitution / suggestions without it being an encyclopedia of theory & chords without context.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman
@GuitarversumSandraSherman 2 года назад
Great idea! I was planning a video on substitutions. It's a little hard to put it in to a song context in such a short time, though.
