Hi, yes that can happen but you will be having a cup of tea whan you have taken the engine out thinking, well that was easy.

Hi, my engine is stuck solid, I am unable to rotate it to get to the torque converter. Any suggestions please? I wish I saw this video before embarking on my engine transplant project! Cheers

Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. Let me know which car your working on? The reason I leave the torque converter in the gearbox is to save space when moving the engine forward to get clearance and to save on gearbox fluid leaking from the torque converter. The easiest way if your engine is solid is to remove the engine with the torque converter still attached to the driveplate / flywheel, the torque converter just slides out of the gearbox as you move the engine forward, you may need to tilt the engine when lifting for clearance or remove the radiator. Try and keep the gearbox level with the engine (a jack under the gearbox) when seperating from the gearbox also plug the torque converter as soon as you can to stop anything getting in it.When the engine is out you will be able to dismantle it until you can turn it to remove the torque converter. You will need to fit a new torque converter seal in the gearbox and I would then slide the torque converter back into the gearbox ready for the engine to be fitted. I am guessing but to clear the torque converter you will need about 3 to 5 inches more clearance on forward space. I will keep looking at my messages so if you need any more advise please let me know.

Excellent video. Quick question. I have had a crankshaft position sensor fail on Bank A on my 2004 2.7 diesel S-Type. Looking from the front, radiator end of the engine, which side is Bank A and is the sensor easy to access?
@crystalclearmechanics
@crystalclearmechanics 9 месяцев назад
Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. I assume you mean the camshaft position sensor. Bank A is the left bank looking from the front of the engine. The camshaft position sensor is fitted to Bank B ( right hand head from front of engine ), bolted to the side of the head and the sensor goes through a hole behind the camshaft sprocket to take signals from the reluctor ring fitted behind the sprocket. The EGR valve needs to be moved aside to remove the sensor as the sensor has to be unbolted ( one bolt ) then moved towards the back of the engine to clear the front of the head. If you look at my video ( 2.7 Diesel TD V6 Cylinder Head Removal ) about 37 minutes in you will be able to see the camshaft sensor with the sprocket removed. The crankshaft sensor fits on the same side ( right hand side from front ) at the back of the engine low down. Hope this helps but please let me know if you need anymore information.

Hi, Thank you for watching and for your feedback. The oil pan / sump is different, the Jag runs twin turbos. I would put the 2 engines side by side and see what needs to be changed that's always the best approach. I always hear an engine running and check compressions etc before I consider using it, for the reason that once you start to strip and check an engine internally ( where do you draw the line ) you can end up spending a lot of money. It's best to take them out, swap over what needs to be swapped and put the good engine straight in. Of course there is always a risk but there is with whatever you decide to do. The Jaguar S Type pre DPF regen model 2004- 2005 and some 2006s are the better engine to use with less of a risk involved. You can sell the 2 cats for Approx £180 to a scrap yard, the vehicle shell approx £200 and what other bits you manage to sell on e-bay, at the end of the day you can end up with a very cheap engine, you may know all this but it could be helpful. If I can help further please let me know

@crystalclearmechanics wow thanks for letting me no I will do that I've already brought a doner car 2007 jaguar s type runs and drives great,like u say if I take the engine and sell the other parts it makes the engine much cheaper,I think this has a dpf if its 07 reg 😬.another question we're did u get your engine brackets from as I can't find any thanks again for answering
@crystalclearmechanics
@crystalclearmechanics 8 месяцев назад
Hi, I got the engine brackets from the Jaguar main agents, they were not expensive. There are 3 in total, 2 are the same they bolt to the back of the engine and then a different one bolts to the front.@@flippingcarsrepairs

@crystalclearmechanics

Hi, if you are happy with the engine, how it runs and sounds and you already own it then go with it. It's easy to over think things. An indication ( not definitive )for oil dilution is to check the engine oil level to see if it is over full. @@flippingcarsrepairs
