Quick update it was what I suspected, right out of the weep hole for the water pump. 140,000 miles, 2004 Dodge Stratus, it never overheated b/c I kept it topped off, mostly with just water, but now the weather is cold, so it could freeze.
Too difficult of a job than I care to tackle, I've gotten my $'s worth out of it IMO.
Too bad b/c it still looks And runs great, shucks.
Take care

Did you have to remove the gas of the AC compressor?
@leeisenberg
@leeisenberg 5 месяцев назад
No, just the bolts that hold the compressor, just to inspect the coolant leak.

You're very welcome friend. It's a truly Lame design imo. Let me guess, how many miles, about 150,00ish er so? My church friend has a 2005 like mine & I think her's has about 155,000ish I think, hope her's will keep going a little longer. We know it will now b/c she was burning oil back in the hot summer, so we've topped it off w/ thicker, 10w40 & 20w50, & a can of Engine Restorer. Least she won't have to worry 1/2 as much about it this winter. - take care

I Feel you Brother... In my 45+ years of being a Auto and Diesel mechanic. The Chrysler 2.7L V6 is one of The Worst P.O.S. engine Ever Designed.

No man it was the water pump, dripping out of the weep hole. Kept topping off the radiator for over a year, then 1 day it turned into a gusher, so I sold it.

Exactly,I have customers with that water pump going bad, I give them the estimate on the labor and they just said thank you but I will junk it and buy another car it's sad

Yeah I know, it's just a DUMB design, period. But it's Not exclusive to Chrysler stuff, there's others similar like Chevy & Honda. I finally sold mine to a mechanic w/ more patience than I have, he fixed it in no time. Want to guess how much $ I sold it to him for?...

@@leeisenberg if it had a flawless body $3,000. My thing is sometimes labor jobs on vehicles can cost more than what the car is worth.

Yeah I know, too often labor costs more than something is worth. Got $600 for my 'Strat'. I was ready to get rid of it, got my $'s worth, drove it for 15 years. Body was pretty solid, silver paint. I had 1 accident in it, so the hood was scratched, 1 beat up fender & bumper. Had about 13?,000 something miles. Got a 06' VW Jetta w/ the 1.9L tdi turbo diesel, 6speed dct/dsg, get almost double the mpg & make some of my own poor man's diesel fuel now. Has just over 200,000, but they're SUPPOSED to last, time will tell.

Keep up the great videos. Dumps antifreeze into oil.

Thanks. Yeah it wasn't doing that on mine yet, just leaking out of the weep hole. Then 1 day the slow leak turned into a real Gusher. So I sold it for a whopping $600 rather than do that royal pain of a job.

Yes, it helped. my friend Chrysler has the same issue this job is like 5-6 hrs labor

Sold it last year; $600 to a poor sap. I'm sure he had sum real 'fun' doing that water pump; NOT.

Youre not gonna like me. But it's really not hard to change the water pump. I have no experience and I did it with the timing chain in a couple of hours. Sure help me that I had my dad's tools and a canopy up over the hood. But it was fun. I'll take that engine right off your hands if I could. 2.7 running strong. Ain't nothing flawed in it just a good engine. With good gas miles. Just need to put the work in

Yeah, sure, &, my name is Elvis too. 2 hours huh?... Can u Prove that, in court?... I watched videos how to do it, & just some of the videos alone were 45 minutes long. And u did it all by yourself & all alone in just 2 hours?... Sure... Don't quit your day job buddy buddy. You can't take that engine off my hands b/c I sold the whole car for a whopping $600, glad to give to someone else that would use it, I got my $'s worth out of it. Ain't nothing flawed in it just a good engine? Yeah sure, good engine w/ good PLASTIC parts like the Dumb coolant bleeder housing made of all plastic, I put the 3rd 1 on it. W/ good gas miles?... I estimate 25-29 mpg out of mine, what kind of mpg is your's getting? I moved up in the world, got an 06' Jetta w/ 1.9L tdi turbo diesel. It gets high 30's to low 40's mpg, almost 2X the 2.7's mpg. Unless u know how to tune it, I highly doubt your 2.7 is getting any better than mine did, & I had a vacuum gauge I could keep an eye on it. How many miles on your 2.7? My VW has over 200,000 on it & runs fine, still gets good mpg & I haven't even tuned it up yet.

2 hrs huh? If you really did it in that time frame. You should have made a video on it. Maybe you could have helped some people out. And you Babbling about it being a good engine... Give it a few year's kid.Then come talk to me. I know engines, and that 2.7 V6 is a P.O.S. kid.

@@victorlozano2486 hello. I didn't see these replies til now. First things first. You are wrong I didn't say I got it done it 2 hours. And this is also my first engine I worked on so it was fun and didn't seem hard to me. There's a perfectly good tutorial video on RU-vid to chang3 the the tijing chainwatch it. If anyone's smart it's easy to find it on RU-vid just type it in. And to the other comment I think you are trying to call me a liar which is okay i didnt believe i could do it too. Thats why im very happy to let yall know my story. Obviously I'm driving a easy paid off car with good miles to the gallon without worrying about buying anything. Maybe yall got to soft working on easy jobs. But it was a no brainer for me to do the timing chain. The only hard part was the sun beating down on me so I got a canopy to help. Also it helps I'm very talented at things but yes it still is and was easy ,just got to do your homework and have fun.

Your a stronger man then myself. Even if it was a 2 hour job (more like 5-8) took my months waiting on parts, cuz everything you take off breaks everything is interface the same job on this car would be 5 hours minimum on any other engine it would take 20 minutes. Just crazy how dumb the design is in my opinion you must rip off 10 pieces to get to one just dumbbbb they have been sued for faulty designs, there famous for overheating being 2 heavy and having low torque output, and massive power draw they also gunk up in like 30-60 k miles… hard to find these beyond 100k mine came with 26k and has been A NIGHTMARE

I’ve had mine for months and haven’t even started it, it came with a dead water pump… and it kinda seems like I either installed mine wrong or installed a faulty one
