Update on the progress of the 2.8 duramax. The porting is finished and I have completed the valve job. Next is to blend the valve job into the port and have the head decked.
Hey buddy just thought I’d let you know that they are a few more performance part available from Thailand now . Check out MRX Performance they have forged crankshaft bigger valve springs high-performance camshaft and solid lifter conversion They don’t have Pistons or rods yet but I would imagine they will be coming soon for 2.8
Thanks for tuning in! Y'all keep me motivated and hold me accountable. There's not enough info about these motors out there. And my goal is for everyone to learn something.
Should be pretty straight forward. Most likely have to adjust the vane position and injection timing. The process shouldn't be much different than tuning the stock motor.
So Geoff at Colt cams makes cams for these trucks. I can get you pistons. I’m in the process of building 2 of these motors now. Carrillo discontinued the rods, so if want rods and can find some they are worth buying. I may talk to the head guy there again and see if he can do another run of 10 or so. Keep trucking!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one building one of these. Thanks for the heads up on the cams and rods. I'll hang onto mine like gold lol. I'm still working on this build and collecting parts. But I've got other priorities that need to come first. I'll update y'all once I make some more progress. Thanks for watching!
you need tuning software, most popular are EFI Live and HP Tuners, and some way to interface with ECU, so a flash/scan tool for EFI Live and MPVI for HPTuners
That's correct. I typically use EFI Live, but have used both. I've always done my own tuning. Most tunes that you buy are locked. Meaning you can't edit them yourself. You'll need to get in touch with your tuner to make any changes.
