So here's my second tutorial: It's all about the tongue :-)!!! Hopefully you will practise these exercises and become totally tongue aware, so we can move to the cheeks next week! Good luck and more importantly, HAVE FUN! Love and light
Hi dear Lloyd, How wonderful you want to pick up this amazing instrument! I hope you will enjoy my tutorials and succeed to pick up all these powerful and healing techniques. And yes it is truly healing for your breathing. ❤️☀️🎶
Very helpful and enjoyable. Though I've practised a little over 16 mths I didn't feel I was progressing well, but playing along with you I realize that my tongue cheeks throat and diaphragm had all benefited from the practice. I find your pedagogy is allowing me to play sounds quite easily that I didn't know I was capable of. It's great to learn from various players but I think Mama might be moving to the top of my most valued instructor list. Very glad to have stumbled across your channel.
I just bought my first didge. And your videos have been extremely helpful. Just 2 videos in and I can see the change. I intend to stick to my practice and follow your tutorials. Deep gratitude 🙏🏼
As I'm learning throat singing, I can overtone sing, so this blends amazing in and actually helps it further. Amazing video. I'm looking forward to having a lesson with you
What a talent you have for teaching! Thanks so much for your lessons. Youve inspired a 69 year old South African living in Switzerland; dusted off an old didge I bought decades ago.
Hoi Lies.
Hey Lies, great channel. It was lovely to meet you and Bart. You made 3 new fans today. All the best on your concert in Serta today and your session work next week.I have subscribed so that I can keep an eye on your travels. All the best, Dave and the boys
You are a great teacher. I'm a drum mama who also loves to play didg but have not had such great lessons either in person or on You Tube as you present here. I'll definitely tell any one who wants to play ridge well to come to your channel.
Only two parts down, but I’ve learned so much already, thanks so much! I never knew you could even practise playing without a didge - all of a sudden doing the dishes or wiping the floor is fun. Of course after practice I have to wipe again… ;-)
I like the way you teach. This is the first time I have seen a video that starts from scratch. I found it very easy to follow your instructions. Thank you.
Zin in! :)
Hey Lees Thanks so much for airing your instruction, it is very helpful. I’ve watched a few other onRU-vid. Yours is fun adept broken down to easily understood. I started on the side which I could make a reasonable drone also got the cb going. Made a few dog sounds. But I’m going to start from The basics with you . So chur 🤙🏾
Sygyt didgeridooing harmonics. Genius. And both separate equal enjoyable good to get target by you 🥰🥳 so much surprises packet in such little time. Very efficiënt 2. 😱🙏😍
Very entertaining and informative video! I was aware of how one uses their tongue to create certain tonalities, but your video clearly demonstrates this technique. For want of a better term, the German "growling 'R' " sounds seems to fit in quite well. As an aside, I personally have difficulty prouncing the "R" sound in English, as it sounds like the letter "Ah". Lol. Pronouncing the Russian word "Здравствуйте" (zdravstvuyte) - "Hello" was a complete tongue-twister for me as well . Obviously a good exercise for utilising this tongue technique! Thanks ever so much for creating and posting this remarkable video! Cheers! 🍻
Hi Didge Mama, I followed your two firt lessons, they are very clear, interesting and helpful ! Thank you for this, and for your lovely high energy :)))
Hey Didge Mama! 😊 Thank you for giving us this unique opportunity! Very happy to learn from a Pro like you 🙏 Personally never succeeded in circular breathing. Probably the reason why I finally quit playing, besides some other different life circumstances. And now... I grabbed my Mallee Didge again! Years ago you sold it to me. Haha 😁
Total beginner; I don't even have a didgeridoo yet... You just taught me more than any other video to date (I've probably watched clise to 100). Practicing with just my mouth, and I'm getting harmonic throat singing with the lip vibration. And it actually sounds kind of cool, haha. Thank you so much for the video!
@@DidgeMama I actually just returned from doing that, although it's 1.3m in length. Now I have to learn to get a proper seal around my mouth - no matter what I lose it around the corners. I think I will be needing the beeswax. Also keeping the lips vibrating while my mouth is against the tube is surprisingly challenging. Should I need a very firm pressure, or a lighter contact? Thank you very much for the encouragement, I will stick with it 😊
Awesome. I learned how to throat sing and overtone sing at the beginning of the year and the end of the year i decided to start learning didgeridoo. Lots of musical growth this year!
Oh great! And with learning throat singing, you developed already muscles and awareness for the didgeridoo!!! Have fun learning this fantastic instrument ❤️🎶🤩
@@DidgeMama yeah I noticed it has helped with playing the didgeridoo as well as the jaw harp. It's just a nice feeling of connectivity . Even though some of these instruments and techniques come from different parts of the world, they're still linked. Thanks for being a link in that chain 👍
thanks so much for these videos. I've been playing a homemade PVC pipe didge for a couple of months and am going to work through them. Very helpful! I followed this one up to the R bit. Are you actually vocalizing the R sound or is it just the toungue movement? Love the sound it makes but can't get anywhere near it atm. I found the bit about harmonics interesting. I can hear them when playing the didge, but my husband can't...
My pleasure, I’m not vocalizing so it’s just a tongue move. And yes, harmonics not everybody hears them. You have to sort of train your ears to hear them, so it’s very possible you’re doing it but your husband just hasn’t got trained ears. Keep going and enjoy. Sending love and light ☀️🎶❤️
Liefs❤️☀️🎶
Thank you very much 🙏❤️🙏!What would you like? A eucalyptus didgeridoo? A yidaki? A great playing one, good sounding? Do you like low or high, bassey or more clear? I made a video of different didgeridoos. Maybe have a look to that one and let me know. ❤️☀️🎶
Hey Lies, first i want to thank you for responding. Second, have a nice day. Third, the questions: when your tongue goes in/out does it scrapes your pallet? Far out does it touch your teeth? Far in is it like the tip of your tongue touches the bottom of your mouth. You know where the tongue is connected to the mouth? Thank you very much Lies, your help is priceless 💜
Hi there dear Yeti, Thank you and thanks for your question! The sides of my tongue touches the sides of my pallet and top molars but the middle tongue doesn’t touch but is very close to it. In front of your mouth the tongue doesn’t touch your front teeth, but again super close to doing so. And to the back as far as you can pull in into your throat. I hope this is clear. ❤️🎶☀️
Hi DM, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. When you are doing the tik a ta tik a ta tik a ta where are you breathing in? Probably to late but can you put your long fringe up. When you turn and play your hair covers your throat. Thanks again
Hi dear Luis, Yes but articulation is a bit to general. Because that would also apply to harmonics. So wanted to be more specific for that technique. ❤️☀️🎶
Hi Sonia, I’m glad you found my tutorials. The R in the back of the throat, you have to put the tongue in the position where you say NG. And then push air through it. Good luck!!!
Great video Didgemama, I am hungry for more. Have to wait a whole week. Do you have vids about your Australian aborigine adventures cause its kind of my dream to be there once.. not very likely too happen soon these covid days. Tot volgende week
Raymond Czapiga maybe, is possible. But the nice thing is if you incorporate your jaw dropping during vocalizations, you don’t need a bigger mouthpiece.
I received my first didge a couple days ago and I had NO idea what was involved in play. I am a sound practitioner and will be leading sound meditations by June. Were you doing all those practices in one breath? I'm struggling to get a consistent breath. Will this come with practice and strengthening the core/diaphragm? I guess what I'm asking is, do I need to be focusing on circular breathing before following these tutorials? maybe I just need to see about lessons🤣
Hi dear Heather, so wonderful you got your first didge! Yes these exercises you start without Circulair Breathing, these tutorials are set up to help you get circular breathing. So practice from number 1 and then go to the second video and at one point you will come to the video of cb. Good luck and have fun!❤️🎶☀️
I just found your videos! I have been trying to learn this for like 3 years to no avail. :-( I am just not getting the circular breathing thing. I can get sound. It is the breathing that is the problem. My didgeridoo is just a cheap like pvc material but I can get a sound on it. I can't seem to do this breathing thing though.
Hi nice you found my channel. See how far you go with my tutorials. If you get stuck, let me know. We then can set up an online lesson. Good luck and have fun ❤️☀️🎶
I am curious if you have ever been guided to do astral travel while someone else played or you led others in astral travel while you played. I see astral travel as something normal that everyone does when they sleep. I would imagine that it would be great for one person to play for 20 or 30 minutes while other people lucid dreams and travels with their minds eye and spirit.
Hi dear Mark, Your dizziness comes from breathing too much. Try not to breath to your chest, only belly out as in-breath. Good luck and have fun. ❤️☀️🎶
Daft question, but when I'm playing through the didge, should be mouth be open or closed? I seem to be getting much better sounds just blowing through pursed, vibrating lips but with my front teeth closed. Plus, when I move my tongue, it sounds right, and I can control the note like you do. But I assumed - maybe wrongly! - that I should have my mouth open when blowing? Any ideas? Thank you!
Not sure if I understood correctly, but when I play my molars are almost together. But every shape of lips and face is different, so if it sounds good it should be good. You can always send me a sound file or video of your playing (didgemama@gmail.com) and then I can tell you if what you are doing is correct. Thanks for your question. ❤️☀️🎶
I find getting a decent drone sound a bit tricky. I can get a deep low sound and vary the sound a bit, but run out of breath. I have watched your first three videos and keep trying different things, although I think really I am stuck on lesson one. Love your lessons, but not sure I am getting it right!! Will keep going, but I think it is going to take me a long time.
Hi Christopher, thanks for reaching out to me. Maybe I can help you on a zoom lesson? So we can look at it together. Let me know if you would like that idea. Sending love and light
@@christophersanders5300 we can do a free 15min try out lesson. Or you can book me for an hour to an hour and a half for €60. So we can get you really started. Let me know what you would like. I’m pretty busy the next couple of weeks, but might have a bit of time, here or there. ❤️🎶☀️
@@DidgeMama Dear Lies, thank you very much for your offer. I am a bit busy myself and will be all over the place until November. I will contact again when I get back from these commitments and then arrange something with you. Xxx.
