The Echo Studio sounds better when you set the tones in the equalizer, it comes pre-set preset with low treble

I use a home cinema setup, 2 studio +sub +fire tv cube. I wanna have dolby atmos and powerful bass at films, etc. It depends on the position of the studios. Your setup is classic 2.1 and the studios are to close to each other and they are also to close to the wall. In my case i placed them 5meters away and 30cm from the wall, sub behind my position.(room 19qm) i have a amazing sound and it feels like cinema sound. In your test setting you should compare only one echo studio for music. Finally 2 studio and one sub are able to create a great powerful surround sound.... If you place them correctly ;) try it and hear the difference. Greetings

yep, classic speakers (in your room) are better expecially in the subwoofer bass range: the bass are more tight, more thumpy and more controlled. The Echo sub bass has a too long trail and are less focused. Maybe tweacking the EQ in the app can do something, but i thing that the whole concept design of the Echo is a thing a part. I mean... the starting design is for one Echo speaker only (without a sub that is basically a "renforcement" add-on) so one Echo (in theory) do everything: soundstage spazialization, bass, mids and highs etc... For a Echo 2.1 system i think that we needs an app with single speaker eq and spazialization on/off and a crossover setting for the sub.

I have one dot plugged into Edifier speakers with no sub in my front room. I just ordered the echo sub to do a hybrid of this. We'll see what happens.

I don't think you can make that judgement until you get both systems in your own room and listen to them yourself... and listen to some viking metal. The spacial capabilities of the studios would work in a much larger area.

Not sure if you had the EQ setup optimally on both systems. Rule of thumb bass bit less than mids, mids bit less than treble. Treble should’ve be clear but in a range where it doesn’t make your ears tired or hurt.

Don't forget for the 500 you are also fetting the ability to have 5.1 and atmos, it won't be perfect but for 500 there's not kuxh on the market that will compete. There not just for music

What could be a next step up after the edifiers? I want to build 2.1 setup around my TV to listen to music. Thinking of small studio monitors + sub, from inexpensive range from Adam or even Presonus. (I’m used to bigger studio monitors from adam and genelec in my studio, just need something cheaper for the tv setup)

Get a set of smart speakers (FENRIS A4 for example) with a RCA subwoofer outlet and buy a seperate 12" active subwoofer.

Hey, thanks for doing that comparison, really impressed with the Edifiers. If you don't mind me asking and sorry if you've mentioned it before, but when testing the Echo Studio, was Stereo Spatial Enhancement switched on or off?

@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thanks for replying so quickly. Sorry to bother you even further, but would it be possible for you to consider comparing them with the Stereo Spatial Enhancement switched off? From what I've heard it can muddy the sound quite a lot.

I didn't find that. For me two sounded better than one. Best to keep them at least 2 metre's apart to get the best stereo separation.

Does the s350 is the sub bluetooth aswell?meaning can all 3 speakers run to a tv?

You can connect all 3 to the TV with an optical cable into the back of the sub from your TV. You'd not be able to connect to your TV through Bluetooth unless your TV is capable of transmitting Bluetooth, which is unlikely.

Ahh you got me then,shame the might of amazon and the massive help from dolby was a waste of time. Maybe they only good for the hd and 3d music who knows.

I'm not saying the echoes are bad, they are decent. it's just the Edifier system is simply amazing in comparison.

It ofcourse depends in what kind of room you place them in etc, but to me the echos sound a bit boomy and shallow hollow muddy. Maybe you need a special equilizer just as bose is using to make their speaker sound good enough cus without the bose sound empty Pricewise i also choose Edifier over both

I bought an Echo sub the other day and linked it to a 4th gen Echo. The bass was almost indiscernible. I turned the sub up full to hear it by voice command, - I don't know if it did anything. Then I turned the echo volume up and the whole thing was ghastly and boomy. So i packed the echo sub back and sent it straight back to Amazon. IMHO it is a complete waste of money. It made everything sound awful. I'm now seeing if there is a way to link a third party sub bass to an Echo Dot and link that in with two Echo 4th gens.

You’re missing the point, the main selling point of the Echo Studios is Dolby Atmos with the FireTV. It’s a surround cinema setup....

I get what you're saying but I found the Dolby Atmos a bit gimmicky. Unless you're right in front of the speakers, it doesn't seem to work very well and even when you are it isn't that good IMO. I'm using the Edifiers as a cinema system and it sounds so much better than the Echo Studios.

UTILITARIAN TV Are you sure you were testing a DD+ 5.1 atmos signal (e-ac3-joc)? They even do DTS and it sounds way better than any other 2.1 setup. Results vary with speaker placement, ie further apart and give them space behind too.

@@nigelhammond3183 Playing Jack Ryan had firestick 4k set to the highest res for the Studio cinema set up. Also checked that Jack Ryan audio output was set to Dolby Atmos.

@@nigelhammond3183 Even tested 3d music through Amazon Music. Edifier set was still better.
