I set up two Echo Studio's from my Apple Mac Mini, First I connected Analogue to digital convertor with 3.5 aux input and a optical output to my Mac ( you can run a cable from the headphone socket on the Mac but I used a USB dac because the sound is better ) I then ran a Toslink cable from the convertor to an optical splitter box with two optical outputs then run the two special Toslink cables to the Echo Studios, This way I dont have to rely on using a firestick in the living room as We only use the Mac as a media centre, The whole thing works really well and sounds absolutley awesome, On the subject of Subwoofers at one stage I did buy an Echo Sub but it was a living Nightmare so I sent it back to Amazon, I think the Echo Sub looks awesome but is totally useless, Ive managed to install a 3.5 Aux on one of the studios and I connect a Hama Subwoofer via an Aux cable, Ive Beat Amazon at thier stupid games and dont have to rely on thier other products or Bluetooth and also both speakers work with anything, Theres no background noise or hiss, It all sounds complex but I found it easy, I worked it out myself and why did I bother when I couldve just bought a different system and use an Echo Input you may ask 'TO BEAT AMAZON thats why' , Anyways awesome videos thanks for sharing Bud.

Finally did this comparison. For me , 2 Echo Studios through the Amazon ecosystem (4K Firestick) gives a much more immersive "cinema" effect with very good sound quality for movies and TV compared to the Edifier system. On the other hand, for music the Edifier setup is superior with more clarity. At the moment, the whole spatial audio format is not well developed , reminds me of the "quadraphonic" sound idea in the 1970s. Some spatial audio tracks sound great but for most, I will take traditional stereo version any day. Verdict: Buy both , one for movies, the other for music and enjoy.🙂

I wish you had tested 2 Studios paired with the Echo sub for a more apples to apples comparison. I would love to hear that :o)

Right off the jump, this is a mismatched comparison, because the Edifier system has it's own dedicated sub. If you want all things being equal, you should through the Amazon Echo Sub in with the Studios, and then compare it to the Edifier. My money is on the Amazon system.

I can install an auxiliary 3.5 output on these so you can plug in an Active Subwoofer, I've done it to mine I use a Hama Subwoofer but any active sub will work, It works like a dream.

It's definitely not a sound bar annihilator, so I have both the edifier and 1 echo studio, and when it comes to movies or TV shows the echo studio definitely sound better, idk if it has to do with the optical cable from the edifier but movies and dialogue doesn't sound so good, but via Bluetooth for music it sounds amazing, and kills the echo studio, so there ya go.

I'm persuaded. I'm buying my first speaker system for my Samsung TV, so hopefully they will beat the onboard speakers. Small room, so I hope the woofer isn't too wolf like.

while I agree those speakers beat the echos and most soundbars they kinda look fugly and awkward to fit around a TV :/

Add an Echo Sub to Echo studio then redo the test...I am sure Echo Sub will win. You cant compare speakers without a subwoofer.

To make this a fair comparison you need to add the echo sub to these then compare surely. I just can't see how 150w system Can beat 2 echos at 340w each and a 100w echo sub it makes no sense.

that Edifer Sub sounds terrible no quality deep bass just overblown distorted bass.

Surely though a soundbar with Dolby Digital and DTS is better for sound separation for sub and speakers than the Edifier for tv as Edifier cant do those profiles
