WELCOME TO YUMMY
TODAY'S RECIPE IS 2 Ingredients Crunchy Sesame Bar | Sesame Seed Candy | Yummy
INGREDIENTS:
Sesame seeds 1 cup
Roast for 2-3 mins low flame
Let it cool down
Baking paper
Grease butter
Keep aside
Sugar 2/3 cup
Caramelised the sugar
Turn golden brown
Low the flame
Roasted sesame seeds
Mix well
Pour into greased paper
Cut while hot
Let it cool down
NOTE: 1 CUP = 250 ML

As a kid growing up in Kenya, shop keepers would sell sesame brittle. When purchased, it came in small cone-shaped pieces wrapped in newspaper. I’m 60 now, and recently discovered that people from India like the sweet and call it “Chikki”. It is typically sold in Indian grocery stores. Awesome! 😊

In many eastern asian countries they make similar desserts too. Many times it’s a mix of honey and sugar then either sesame seeds, or peanuts, or even both for a variety of textures. Changing the ratio of sugar to honey changes the “bite”, more honey more chewy, more sugar more hard. I like all of them!

Indian Chikki is usually made with jaggery , an unrefined brown cane sugar and besides the popular sesame seeds , crushed or halved peanuts are also used . Other kinds of nuts are used as well . Thanks for sharing this recipe with caramelised sugar !❤

Tried this and it was amazing. So much crunchy and flavourful. I just couldn't flatten it because by that time it had already become hard. So I just smacked it with the rolling pin lol.
