I wasn’t even 9 years old yet. I was in third grade, and my mom was in a really tough spot just a couple months into what would be a very long recovery from a bad car accident. This team provided lots of joy when I was dealing with hard things in my life. 2012 was pretty much the first time I remember actually paying attention to sports really, and as a KU fan, this run was pretty much at the forefront of what would end up being a passion for sports throughout my life.
That hit the feels man! I felt this… this was the first season I remember watching as a Kentucky fan and yea the rest is history…. Hope that recent Kansas title made you proud bro! Want my cats to get back there soon.
@@isaiahevans4930 They will. No doubt. You’re back to the most wins in history. But where you really kick our butts is having twice the Championships we do. Kentucky is #1 but my Jayhawks are #2 in College basketball history. Take care.
The irony here is that Craft tried to catch everyone off guard with the quick free throw, but in the end it was OSU and CBS who were caught off guard! OSU was still arguing the call and CBS was still showing a replay while the game kept going!
As a Kansas fan, I can't rewatch any of our Final Four losses. Still haven't rewatched the 2003 Title game vs. Syracuse, and the 2012 title game I rewatched parts of the second half where we came back a little, but not the whole game. Ohio State has such great sports. Obviously in Football, but I have loved watching your hoops and my Hawks competing with you guys. I remember one time I think you knocked us out of the Maui Invitational. I didn't think we would win this game, I had just moved to Dallas the year this game happened, and really didn't think we would win this game. We were lucky to.
You should have, because you are smart, and know it may be another 20-25 seasons before Ohio state gets back to the final four…..12 years later and we haven’t been back, and it’s not been real close for over a decade we haven’t even made the second weekend. So tears were in order 😢
History is fun. You can admit it. I attribute it also to our inherent desire to feel powerful, with the power in this instance coming from looking back on this game and thinking “Man, they really didn’t know what they were talking about”, or “Man, they had no idea what would happen. But I do, because I’m from the future. Mwahahahaha”.
That 2012 Kansaa Jayhawks team will be remembered by the lessons it lived..There is effort in hard work, No deficit is too large to overcome, THANKS FOR THE RIDE THIS YEAR GUYS AGAIN!! 2012 TEAM NEVER SAID DIE!!!
I admit, I'm a lot more proud of this KU team than I was the 2008 team. The 2008 was expected to win it all, and they did exactly that. The 2012 team was not expected to do anything at all, and they made it all the way to the natl. championship game, and played with more heart, and resiliency than I ever seen any team play in college basketball that year.
Josh Jackson is better than Andrew Wiggins. His ceiling is lower, but he's more confident, more aggressive, and better at defense. Wiggsin will likely be the better pro, but Jackson is the better college Freshman.
He had an amazing game today against Texas Tech. Season and career high 31 points, including the game winner. He had an amazing game today, but this team has GOT to learn how to get free throws in close games. They just have to for the love of god. Continuing, you are right Ready. Jackson is better. I think he's a better shooter than Wiggins, he's definitely a much better defender. He has some of the quickest hands I've ever seen. Overall, between Wiggins and Jackson, Jackson is no doubt the better freshmen. I've seen it in person. Wiggins was never as aggressive as Jackson is.
Be grateful that these games are even up. I did upload the National Championship game, but after I did it was immediately taken down by RU-vid. There's nothing I can do about that.
Hated to see it end the way it did for Ohio State as a Kansas fan, but it could have ended with Withey's shot on the phantom travel call or Tyshawn's steal if he didn't throw it away. Great game Rock Chalk
Ohio State was so much better this season. I was blown away when they lost. I didnt think they would win it all but they had a better resumé than Kansas in just about every aspect. I dont think theyd lose if this was played 5 more times
Watching this now just a few weeks after KU won the 2022 title. Man! HOW did this team get to the final game? They had NOBODY that could score consistently. In this game and in the title game against Kentucky, Robinson was pretty much held in check leaving them with few other options. They couldn't shoot from the outside at all. But they still got to within one game of the National Championship. Tough, gritty and played great defense.
2012 Final Four teams in regards to 2014 nonconference games Kentucky vs. Kansas (Champions Classic - Indianapolis, IN) Louisville vs. Ohio State (ACC-Big Ten Challenge - Louisville, KY) Louisville vs. Kentucky (Battle of the Bluegrass, Louisville, KY)
Hey!! first off this channel is amazing lol. can't believe I hadn't found it till now! Thanks so much for uploading the games! Secondly, I was wondering how you get the games? I'm not too computer savvy, but i've been trying to find a dvd of kansas' 2012 tourney run to give my dad as a present and it doesn't seem to exist?!? Searched and searched and can't find anything but the championship game. Would really appreciate any information or advice you can offer!! Thank you so much! :) -Alex
OOoo I remember that game, I had money on KU to win that one and when I clicked it on at halftime I was pissed lol but dam that had a HEART POUNDING finish if u were either a KU fan, Mizz fan or a gambler on 1 of the teams
I agree. History has a funny way of repeating itself!!! Luckily, Kentucky won that game. :) Crazy that Cal & Self are 1-1 against each other in a title game..
Kansas can struggle when they play against physical teams like Texas. Other teams like Pittsburgh and Wisconsin are stylistically similar in that regard as well.
ha! yes yes yes!!! My brother was driving across Kansas and coming to my house at the time of the mizzou game. he walked into my house with 10 seconds left and was wondering why i was laughing so hard. i told him "Mizzou's losing to Norfolk Fucking State!" He just rolled on the floor laughing with me.
I remember after Kansas beat Ohio State earlier that season, most of the analysts were talking along the lines of "Ohio State is still the better team, Kansas only won because Sullinger wasn't playing". There was even one analyst who said the Buckeyes deserved to move up from number 2 to number 1 in the following rankings. Because yeah, everyone should move up when they lose, that makes total sense. Not the biggest Kansas fan, but I'm glad the Jayhawks got to show who the better team really was in this game.
Every single one of the tournament games were a heart attack for KU fans! The team had one hell of a ride on a "down year." I'll take those kind of down years any time.
lol - same. I remembered my Hawks won, and I remembered we only took the lead in the very late stages of the game. But I thought we were way more behind at halftime. I am watching all sorts of videos because I've already watched replays of this NCAA tournament too many times! I can't believe we overcame that Carolina onslaught!
I had some mid level seats and they provided each seat with a final four cushion made of foam material. I remember everyone throwing them down on the lower level after lol
Ohio State is always a tough out in the NCAA's - they have lost by 2, 3, 2, and 2 in their last four tournaments. I actually thought their 2011 team was a lot better than the 2012 team but the 2012 team was the one that got to the Final Four.
I think one reason why Michigan got to the title game (aside from talent and heart) was history repeating coincidentally (Pitino vs. Beilein - 2005 West Region Elite 8). The same reason (aside from just talent) could be said why Kansas got to the title game against Kentucky (2008 title game).
Hey Michigan, leave it took you guys since 94 to get to a Sweet 16, Ku makes it every year..KU blew it plain and simple..Burke misses lucky hail Mary..Ku goes to Elite 8
Now that Bill Self and John Calipari faced off in the tournament four years after Kansas/Memphis, both will probably take a backseat in terms of spotlight. Both teams will be top 12 by March, but they likely won't be of the level they were this year (especially Kansas)
It is odd with Self and Calipari, when one is successful the other isn't nearly as much! Cal lost to a 15 seed in the tourney this year, and Kansas won it all!
Well I guess my comment doesn't make that much sense because in Self has coached in 3 title games. 2 were against Calipari. 1 loss/1 win. And now against Hubert Davis as his first year of being the head coach of UNC. 2 wins/1 loss.
@@twoquickii1330 A lot has happened since. Kansas and North Carolina have sort of been like everybody else while Kentucky and Duke are media sensations year in and year out. To some extent, the dominance that Calipari had at that time, has loosened.
This was a really good game, but way too many game changing calls went Kansas' way. I think because of T-Rob's story he got a bunch of better calls to make him look better than Sullinger.
carsonc29 I'm a huge Ohio State fan and congrats to Kansas from winning this game but in my humble opinion Ohio state had much more Talent and I mean no disrespect to you
