Hi, thank you for this incredibly clear tutorial. I am preparing to make my first bench cushion and am using your videos as a close reference. I hope you can help me with a question I have. How many yards of fabric do you think I need if my bench measures 31" x 17"? I am using a solid fabric with no prints. The zipper needs to go along the 31" part. How long of a zipper will I need? I would truly appreciate your help as I am a little confused with this part. Thanks so much. Happy Holidays.

Peg this is terrific! Question on the dimensions of the zipper plaque- adding the extra 4 " to each side- what if i only want the zipper to be in the back of the cushion- not have it come around 4's extra on each side- what do I do for the plaque dimensions-?

Hi, Kelley. Thank you so much for writing! It is definitely OK to omit the "wrap-around" on the sides. I had the extra length on the zipper to allow for easier insertion and removal of the cushion insert. The zipper, however, should at least run the length of the boxing back. For instance, if your cushion dimensions are 30" front and back, the sides are 24", and the depth is 4". Cut the boxing pieces for the front and sides, adding your desired seam allowance. Prepare the back, inserting the zipper as directed in the video. Let me know if this answers all your questions. You can write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com with more details and/or photos. I'm here for you. Best wishes, Peg

I am making cushion covers for my rocking chair. I was wondering what fabric you used? I bought Quilting fabric, will that be ok. Your fabric seems more sturdy

Hello, Johna, Thank you for writing. The fabric I used for this project was a home decor cotton, a little heavier than quilting calicos. Don't worry though, your fabric will work just fine. It just may not provide as many years of wear like a home decor fabric would. I hope you'll stay in touch; I'd love to hear more about your cushions. You can send details and photos to my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg www.littlebugslipcovers.com

Dear Sam, Thank you for writing! It's been a while since I have covered bull nose cushions, and there is a bit more of a challenge to sewing them. Since it might be a while before I am able to make my own tutorial, you might want to try a very helpful tutorial made by Sailrite. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E7EUCLHnyQ4.html. Let me know if this is helpful. Sincerely, Peg littlebugslipcovers.com

Peg Baker oh. I am a novice sewer like this patio outdoor cushions will be my next big project but when you said a bullnose a challenge? What do you mean? Kinda nervous on this task that i have assign my self, lol
@PegBakerSlipcovers
@PegBakerSlipcovers 7 лет назад
Dear Sam, The challenge lies in the rounded sides of the cushion. With a square cushion, you have four corners to match up with the boxing evenly. With a bullnose style, the top and bottom of the cushion are cut from one piece and must curve around the rounded side ends. It's a good idea to take an existing cover apart and use it as a pattern. If you don't have one, you can make your own out of remnant fabric. It's always a good idea to practice a new technique before cutting out your good fabric. Let me know if this is helpful! Write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg littlebugslipcovers.com

Thank you very much for your detailed and very helpful video. I have a question about boxing. I am in the process of making a big cushion which measures 18x42x4 inch. The fabric width is 60 inch. My question is should I do boxing by joining 4 pieces of boxing together or can I do one piece for zipper plate attached to another long piece which is 42+18+18+1 =79 inch lengthwise I mean not cut across the width of fabric! Can I do that or should all boxing pieces cut across fabric width? Thanks,

+ohoud joudeh Hello, Ohoud, Thank you for writing. I believe what you are asking is: could you cut these pieces on the length-wise grain as opposed to the cross-wise grain. Yes! You can definitely do that. Be aware, though, that fabric cut on the length-wise grain could stretch in a way that the cross-wise grain does not. Please keep me posted on your outcome. Sincerely, Peg

LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! how do i figure how long the "zipper box" needs to be. is there a formula.. i used the 8" over the length, but my cushions are different measurement. thanks in advance.

@PegBakerSlipcovers 10 лет назад
Happy Lifer Hello, Brent, Thanks for writing! The length of the zipper box can be as long as you deem necessary. Having an extra 3 to 5 inches on each side makes removing and putting back on a little easier. On a large "L" or "T" cushion, you may want to make the zipper box a little longer. It's personal preference actually. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Peg

I use 1/4" or 5/32" thick. These are very close in size and are very easy to work with. Let me know what you decide on. I'd love to hear more about your cushion project. Sincerely, Peg www.littlebugslipcovers. com
