The Honda Navi was just released earlier this year, but I’m already seeing TONS of them hitting the used market. So what’s the deal- why are SO many Navi owners getting rid of their bikes? Do they regret their purchase? Should I regret MINE?!
Personally, I think it all comes down to being informed. So today I’m giving you the top things I LOVE about my 2022 Honda Navi and the top things I HATE about the new bike. Then I’ll tell you whether or not all of these Honda Navi problems have given me buyer’s remorse.
If you have a Navi yourself, let me know what your top pros and cons are in the comments!

Why would you WANT to ride around where people have settled to camp? It's wrong to ride around people, including small children and sleeping babies, that are casually walking and going about their business. @@armaniirani4720 As a surgical-trauma nurse, PLEASE do not make your first bike an 1100. I have seen soooo many patients who got a 900+ bike as their first one, and laid it down on top of them, lost skin, a few legs, or worse, because they weren't ready to handle something so big right out of the gate. It's a much better idea - depending on your physical size - to get something between 300-600 cc, or even go the used market and get an older 250 cc, cause most people do drop the bike at some point, or have minor accidents, and you wouldn't want to do that to a 10k+ bike.

I was hooked on the mini moto scene, and looked heavily into the Navi as my first bike, I went to the dealership, the salesman had the 23 Navi and the 24 Grom side by side. I picked the Grom over the Navi the biggest deciding factor I already had a 2016 Honda metropolitan scooter, I didn't want another bike that's basically like my moped, if I was to take the msf to get my endorsement, I'll need to learn to shift anyways (i passed!). The pros to the Grom has a bigger fuel tank to me it's a plus, the quicker acceleration, the digital dash (also the white light on the dash telling you when to shift), the negatives, it takes a bit finessing to shift into Neutral, lack of storage, and maybe the price, it's double that of the Navi. The Navi, the pros, storage, similar top speed to the Grom, you don't have to shift, the Negatives, not as quick accelerating as the Grom, the bike feels cheaply made compared to the Grom i.e. you can tell looking at the plastic panels, the basic gauge compared to grom's digital one, etc and it felt like a moped all dressed up in motorcycle clothes, and the out the door price of the Navi depending where you live can be almost as msrp or more to a new Grom, my 24 Blue Rasperry Grom's otd price was $3900, not bad at all!

Got one in Toronto at MSRP for teenage son. Perfect starter bike. For many, the price is attractive for a new Honda with warranty, Honda service network etc. If this is your budget and you know the bike's limitations, the value is amazing. As for the old tech, had to be or it would be too close in price to Grom or competition. Some benefits are low maintenance (anyone ever need to service their drum brakes?) Proven engine that Honda has made millions of over many years. Oil and air filter are only regular service. Sure it's carbed but no computer chips; perfect SHTF machine. Also great for the teen to wrench on. He already liked tinkering with small engines like lawn mowers etc so carbed engines are what he already knows. Everything is serviceable by it's owner and parts are easily obtainable. Service manuals easily found online (since it was made/sold in India for years). These could run for decades if cared for. Since manufacturing has been moved to Mexico, I was also happy to purchase a bike that was at least made on this continent and not overseas.

As a uni student in a different country, rather than spending $200 per month on public transport I could use this to get around. My total commute would be 30 mins instead of 2 hours. No problems with parking and I can go to the gym, do grocery shopping easily and also explore the city. Convenience and safety is important, speed and pickup not so much. Back around fall of 2021 I found out about the Navi. I used to ride around on an old beat up Honda ct-70/Trail 70 sometimes as a kid. That thing was a a ton of fun. I'm not as knowledgeable with bikes as I am with cars and didn't even know they still made something street legal that size. I typically don't see anything that small except conventional scooters here in Southeast Michigan. Looking into the Navi, I found out about the Grom. I ended up putting a deposit on the Grom before Christmas and got it the day before the following Easter. It was like $4400 after fees/plates/tax. I chose the Grom over the Navi due to being a manual transmission, bigger fuel injected engine, disc brakes, modern electrics/dash/gauges, and overall better build quality/look. The gas mileage is better too. I get between 125-155 mpg which has been better than expected and worth it with these crazy gas prices! The front suspension on the Grom isn't great either. One thing I've noticed though- Dogs really *HATE* it!🤣

Navis would be great at the MSRP. The problem is, in this market ALL motorcycles are going to have the dealers passing on shipping/setup fees, in addition to whatever OEM markups exist across all the dealerships. There are always deals to be had, but it depends on a specific dealer getting offloaded with way more bikes than there's a market for in their area.

As for intake and exhaust…that can quickly be 10-25% of what you paid for the bike, and endless weekends of tinkering to get carbs jetted just right to match the intake and exhaust…that would be very low on my list. well for one inflation alone almost makes up for the price difference since it was available in india in like 2016 but the reason it stopped selling in india and was discontinued was because of government regulations. the bike is still made in mexico then imported to the u.s so the cost of import is also added in to the price. the bike has also seen some minor upgrades since its debut in india such as a fuel gauge. "Along with a new BS-IV compliant motor, the Navi gets cosmetic updates like body coloured headlamp cover, mirrors, a rear grab rail and tubeless tyres. The single side mounted rear shock absorber is also painted red. Another important update is the new instrument console that gets a fuel gauge." considering all of that the price increase makes perfect sense.

Here’s my thoughts on the Navi. I have just over 3k miles now and it runs gud no complaints on that except for the brakes. The real problem is the gas mileage it comes in half the mpg of the grom and pcx and if u look at only this in money the extra money in gas kills this thing within a yr the wasted money would have paid for a pcx or a grom. So imo do not buy this machine and let it die like India did because it’s not worth having unless u only drive 100 miles a year

problem is its only got a 1 gallon tank so even if it got a good 80mpg that still doesnt get you very far. according to google the navi is estimated to get a bit over 70mpg so either google is lying or you are more upset over the capacity not the mpg. sure the grom does get double which is insane but as far as motorcycles go 70+ mpg is plenty respectable. you are absolutely right though, if you are averaging 10k miles per year on the bike then yea the gas savings from the grom would be the difference in price between the navi and the grom.

The Navi has a 0.9 gallon tank and a mpg of 132.6 so not bad other than it having a carburetor 👍 best to use unleaded Ethanol for the bike it has some protection against the engine sputtering also I bought a new carburetor which is why I said a 132.5 mpg difference also major speed difference I can get a top speed of 62 mph switched the throttle and the best thing I found out is that you have to fill it up higher than the average of 0.756 I filled it up to 0.923 and major difference also I changed the brakes to hydraulic and made the speedometer LED and added front suspension also the heavier you are the slower the acceleration is so if you wanna hit 62 mph be 165-175 lbs and you’ll get that difference with the government tax and fees plus the bike and all the mods it costed me $3,347 so this can be a nice little moped/scooter if you put the work in.

@@brando3009 the only ebike that i know of that can really compete with the navi in terms of speed is the onyx rcr, and it costs more than double what the navi does. plus, there's the issue of legality. i am leaning towards the navi.

Nice review bro! I'm about to buy one tomorrow....now, I weigh 270....whats the max weight it can hold? Will it make it way slower? Thanks!
