It took 20 years, but the AI finally learned to not throw whole armies into castles like the Somme was running out of fashion. Progress!

we all have a green ai in our personal lives - that nonchalant person who's utterly disinterested in what's happening around them, just want to focus on their own life without a care of anything else while everyone else is running around and fighting each other for success in life

Here is what really impressed me about the updated AI: -The AI strategies include various rushes -Sheep scouting -Lures deer with scout - Will walk through holes in your wall to raid your town -go around your castle -Kite archers in groups What really took me off-guard.. is that the AI will send a villager to repair mangonels. I had to double-check that I wasn't fighting a human opponent While the updated AI still got some of the original AI's flaws (like still never walling and spastic against trushes)I never in my wildest dreams would have predicted such a vastly improved AI.

I kind of want to see a 1v1 of AIs each with a human "ally" that can only use the commands to try and direct the AI to victory.

I've been playing around with the new A.I. and old. I enjoyed making random challenges for it. Like 1V7 but every time one of the 7 takes out a completed castle I torpedo that player. Or try to sabotage it by ordering its units around in a 1v1.

My favourite strategy of the new AI is the strategic sheep patrol. And I loll'd so hard when the frank AI stone walled his own lumberjacks. Whatever AI lacks in finer logic, it more than surpasses with multi-tasking and macro-management.

Imagine trying to destroy a stone building with volley of arrows.

Yet again, I'm watching someone watching a computer play against another computer...

Spirit, could you try out the new AI commands by doing a 2v2 where the human players are only allowed to feed and command?

I tested 6 vs 2 extensively with the HD AI and they always beat the original CD AI on pure land maps. It's different with water though where they tend to lose sometimes. The HD AI does especially well with ranged units, because they just send units into the general direction of the enemy and the range helps attacking actual targets.

I feel like if the Franks had actually shown up the old AI may have stood a chance, those early eagles looked pretty dicey for a second but without any support they couldn't keep the pressure on

Liked because you put the intro song back in, even though it should be longer.

The handling of walls by both old and new AI is weird. The old AI never linked their walls together - they'd leave all kinds of awkward no-man's lands between their allies. The new AI still gets super hung up about encountering walls. It sometimes seems to mass archers against a fortified wall... that they can just walk around.

Super satisfying commentating aswell, you have a relaxing voice, do some more videos like this :P

Finally the intro :D ... I hope that it'll become longer as more games are played and more highlights get clipped. I'm glad about the supremacy villager, the demo-ship, the goth gameplan and the lightsabers (which last too little though). I still need a couple insane onager headshots and some nice micro (and a horse-moonwalk if possible). I'd also love some broken-Steppelancers and respawning Konniks clips.

Love these videos we need you to play a game with you against a number of extreme new ai.

Watched the 1v7 now this. I think it would be amazing with one where you did a 1v7 and 2v6 but where all the ai was the same exact nations/factions so that we can really see the difference in the ai. That way they have the same units stats and available buildings+ bonuses. What do you guys think? :)

I seem to remember having an easy time with the AI in my first campaign in HD against the Huns. Until I got to mission 4... the first mission where the AI gets to go imperial. At which point, the AI started churning out wave after wave of paladins and crossbows. The HD AIs and later seem to get particularly vicious once they hit Imperial Age.

If the new AI is very aggressive with its scout, does it mean the AI scouting is aggressive or the top ELO players' scouting is aggressive? As well as going under the TC too much.

I mean i don't really play AoE, but for some reason i find it really fun when we see how computers solve issues :o Really interesting despite me not really knowing any tactics myself :D Keep it up! I'm subscribed!

id like to see tons of these, 1 old and 1 new as a team, 2 new 1 old against 1 new all else old, and even just doing it again but picking the civilizations and making interesting comps, i really like these ai battles.

You did a video on the best civ pairings based on team bonuses. I'd love to see a similar one with optimal civ combinations for 4v4 games.

Came here cause AoE2 Definitive Edition videos were recommended to me, staying here for the diversity of content in relation to AoE2 (despite me only being familiar with AoE3). Also i would love to see more AI battles! These really fascinate me for some reason.

I done this myself with a ludicrous map. The battle raged on for ages as they all advanced to imperial age and all had relatively large armies. I'll try and get some time to replay it and upload it :)

In the future AI will be unbeatable. Imagine being able to micromanage infantry, arches, cavalry and siege at the same time,, where the humans players are focusing on one army.

This series must continue. Nothing better than watching new upgraded bots fighting old bots and destroying them 👀
