What a great start to 2022, two great vehicles to cast your special attention to them. I like the Gemini as a first one. Funny story , sleeping one night in our caravan heard a really load bang , got out of bed in jocks looking all over the van, outside under it trying to find what the noise was from. Gave up went back to bed. Went to get milk from fridge in the morning to find an exploded soft drink can in the fridge and like you say what a mess😂 I had the Falcon xPak (predecessor to the s Pak) loved that car Looking forward to seeing what you do with these cars 👍

Love the XF! Looks like it just needs a tidy up and you're away. I had an XE four speed with the 3-3 six. Went ok if you had the correct gear selected. The dash on the XF WILL crack without the mat, and the door handles WILL break! Also, rust WILL get it if not checked regularly, particularly around upper doors and where the windshield fits in. Never been interested in Gemini's, but loved old Celicas and Datsuns from the era, even the 120Y. That's a nice, straight example though 😃👍

That Gemini with a 2.6 4ZE1 out of a rodeo! Awesome on boost, swaps right in being from the same engine family with an extra litre of power!

In my gemi wgn I had a 2.6 holden rodeo efi as the first conversion and then got serious in 2002 we shoehorned a VR commodore 3.8 ltr v6. Every drive was like driving in the wet.

If I had the gemi, I'd probably want a mild cam 202. Keen to see more of the xf, I'm in the process of getting one on the road too

Hatchback Torana's had an orange colour like that called 'Mandarin Red'.

I had the same model in a sedan, the gemi is mint! Start with it i love it

Go the Gemini. I bought a 1978 model in 1982 and blew the motor so I put in the bigger 2L twin cam isuzu motor as bolts straight in and wow what a difference

Had a xf injected it went hard 80kmh and light up the tyres also had an ea at the time the missus loved xf .

Wagon for me. Had sedans, Ute's, light trucks and by far my favourite is a wagon.

Gemini first, what a find!

My mate had a Gemini. It went everywhere on surf trips. Sand, gravel were no challenge. Floor got so rusted you could see the road through the floor from inside. Had so much fun in it. I have fond memories of Geminis.

2 very nice Barn finds Boys. I'm a Ford Boy Myself so I would start on the Gemini first. 1- Remove engine and Transmission First replace all Gaskets and seals and exhaust system. 2- detail the engine bay while engine is out 3- remove the seats carpet seatbelts door cards steam clean the roof lining and seatbelts reupholster the seats and door cards and detail the dash (armour all) might as well change all exterior light bulbs. 4- repair rust hole up near the Plenum chamber on passenger side door. 5- then reinstall the interior. 6- push car over to the hoist and raise it up and inspect and replace all worn suspension and Brake parts. 7- lower the car down and install engine. 8- take it over pits with a big smile on your face and watch it pass with flying colours. 9- take it for a cruise around the streets and watch heads spin off on admiring on lookers.

Have to convert the XF back to manual and if you want to something better with the door cards, get Fairmont ones. Not the GHIA ones as they are P/W, just normal Fairmont ones are still wind up. Probably also out the S Pak driving lights back on the front to finish it off

Guys did you see the Gemini they featured on Fullboost? Old mate kept the 4cyl and turboed it. A lot of power. Kept a Gemini trans, diff. It flogs!

Keep the 4 cylinder in the Gemini but as it's an Isuzu engine, you could turbo the bugger...think they had turbo 4s in the Piazzas with a similar engine as the Geminis.

Yeah the boys, just lower the panel van and put an exhaust on it. For some reason that simple weekend build would excite me. And as a fellow 253 owner I hate horse power.

I've owned my '80 TE Gemini Wagon SL, G161Z, 5 spd, factory A/C for 29 years. It was my first car, and I've still got her..lol! She's just a bare shell at the moment waiting for a paint job. I have a fully recond N/A G200 EFI and matching fine spline output 5 speed gearbox to go in it. Engine + gearbox are a direct bolt in. I had to add a bit of extra wiring, bigger fuel lines + high pressure fuel pump for the EFI, but that's all done ready to go. The engine + gearbox were out of an import '81-'82 Isuzu Piazza...anyone remember the Australian Turbo version of these? P.S...I also have a factory sun visor in perfect condition you guys mentioned you might need, but I'm in Perth, so it might be a bit pricey to ship🤣👍🇦🇺

Love the Gem, you'll never find one at that price these days. Toss up between working the stock engine or putting a turbo 2liter Nissan in it. These days if I had the money I'd have one of each.👍👍

Gemini is the best my favourite car is the 2 door wagon I’d absolutely love to get one but hard to find in decent condition and as far as not as exciting of a barn find I’d be as stoked to find that as a gts lol 😂 but I’m weird and I love em can’t wait to see what ya do with it

The motor is a G161 1600cc, I reckon find a 2L out of the same era of Rodeo, or try and find the Twin Cam version of the 2L, maybe from Japan.

This is the stuff of dreams. The ancient Isuzu (1.6L I think they were) engine firing up after eight years. Shame about the seats. XF - Barra Turbski Gemini - I think a Honda K series engine for ease of power and parts Going to enjoy this series for sure.

I had a Gemini as my 1st car. Maybe a 4cyl Starfire engine done up like it was put there by Holden. All stock looking. Factory air filter, motor painted red.

Good old ISUZU g1600 There is also a G1800 and the G200 They responded good to a draw through turbo back in the day ! Soooo easy to work on

In the Gemini 2litre G200W DOHC Isuzu engine will fit perfectly and add a turbo will be a great little cruiser

Leave the gem engine, but efi and/or turbo it, 4ze1 intake and piazza turbo setup. Needs a 5 speed to be a good cruiser if it doesn't already have that option.

Welcome back boys, we missed you! Gotta start with the Gemini. My sister had a sedan in the same colour in about 1986, it was a rocket. When you get to mods, it would be sensational to see it with tubs and an L67 in it.

Commodore v6 conversion for the Gemini.

The Gemini should be first. Maybe a rotary? Very cool cars.

The XF paint the grey tail light surrounds body colour replace the grille with a painted XG one bag it set and Forget. As for the Gemini the common conversion was to replace the G161z 1.6 with a G200z 2.0 out of a Rodeo. Don't know if these engines are still available any more. .

Gemini is the go, not sure if it fate or what but Fullboost latest episode is on a Gemini/s. Looks like original running gear boosted and Halteched could be a good option!

That xf is a barn find sweet rig! Hope you keep it all original and the 4.1 efi donk... love it! Rare car in that condition

I'm from the HOLDEN GEMINI GENERATION ... Fond memories of living on campus uni years for four years. The most attractive girl on campus had a blue four door Gemini. She was the "FARRAH FAWCETT" of campus! ... Before your time guys ... I'm not a car nut but pretty sure they had an Isuzu engine. It's in such great condition I wouldn't go changing the motor. People from that era would want to buy it as it was. Keep up the great work guys.

Gemini. Keep the 1600 add a turbo. Or get a 2 litre rodeo motor and turbo.

G180w or g200w in the Gemini would be cool. Piazza turbo motor is another cool option!

You can put holden rodeo motors in them with all the fuel injection

The XF you have is actually a pretty rare car. It’s a Series 1 that runs on Unleaded. Couple with that the EFI Option and the Manual transmission and you’ll find it difficult to find another running example. Well done!

Buick 3.8 v6, bullet proof and would be spicy in such a small car and if you guys decide to get adventurous add a turbo. Will make enough to be fun without the major spending of internal mods etc.

Who cares which one you start first, guys. Both straight out of my era. Wouldn’t pick either of them for myself personally back then but I dig it. My Dad may he Rest In Peace, reckons the XF Falcon was the best car Australia ever made! He was a taxi driver. 👍 Love it men! Keep up the good work!! Cheers Damo ✌️

Hey Boys, This is a ‘no brainer’ for sure: Nathan’s XF gets first chance!!! (Change back to Manual, as the trans is obviously somewhat ‘poked’ & retrim the interior with Leather/Alacantra, of the same colour.) Sadly Michael’s Gemini is gonna be a much bigger project: Needs bodywork/rust repair & replacement of the whole Drivetrain, Brakes & Interior, so will take much longer. Considering you’ve got other stuff to work on already, that’s why Nathan goes first, in my opinion. Michael, don’t be disappointed; you get to build either a Honda K series, or Rotary Powered ‘little ripper’, (since it’s Japanese anyways & everyone is sick of LS conversions,) that’s gonna ‘rock’..... a real ‘sleeper’. Anyways, that’s my input, so I’m looking forward to seeing your choice. Kia Kaha, Grant from NZ.

The Spac would have had a 5 speed and 3.5 LSD. Wonder if the changed the diff gears to 2.77 when they did the auto conversion.

Would love to see you do a 12A in the gem. Would make for a nice cruiser.

Lot of purists here regarding the gemini and rightfully so, but putting a CA18 or an SR20 motor can be a good swap with the option of a turbo if you wanted all the noises. N/A alone would make the gemmy a fun little car!

Isuzu 4 is a great little engine. Easy to work on and go very well… Gemini first 😃

A 305cu in gm v6 in the Gemini would make it different a tow like a truck
