Motocross Action assistant editor Josh Mosiman got the green light from Jody to build his first personal project using the KTM 250SX as the base. From there Josh was able to get a 300cc two stroke kit from KTM, do a ton of testing with WP on suspension, add a custom Pro Circuit exhaust to it, throw on Hinson clutch components, bolt on Luxon triple clamps, and add a host of after market goodies to make it race ready for the Two Stroke World Championships at Glen Helen Raceway. With a bike like this, Josh has no excuses when it comes to how he finishes. I wish KTM would bring back a reason to allow two strokes in the 450 class. Say a Fuel injected SX380 or SX400.

Yea maybe too crisp especially when the carburetor is is going from the pilot circuit to the needle. Pilot sounds lean

@@joshsmith9058 The older KTM 300 twostrokes before the model year 2007 had a much narrower, but also much higher powerband. The factory 300's of this time were dyno messured with around 62 horsepower on factory dynos as quality controll. I'm totally aware of the fact, that KTM has changed the motor characteristics by changing the port shapes and sizes a lot. They trated peak power for rideability and a much smoother powerband. But this well tuned and customised motor surely comes close to the peak power of the older models.

Beautiful although your racing it like a 4-Stroke! I understand that it’s a 300 but you need to think that your on a KTM 150! I raced my 250 like a 125 which I thought I was fastest on although a 250/300 does all the work although great build pure beautiful.

Is that a HAMMERHEAD shift lever? I have 2021 150 sx and hate the stock shift lever, it's too short and shift knob to wide.

Nice build ,would have been nice to see suspension from a shop ,ie Kreft , MX tech ,JBI, just to name a few to showcase what these great technicians produce ,just my 2 cents worth ( no affiliation with any shops)👍👍

WP does have their own shop and technicians that will meet with any factory rider to tune their suspension. MX Tech is a great suspension company also but I think they're better for enduro and cross country suspension tuning.

Nice bike! Anyone know if this pipe and silencer are in stock for a 20 TC250? It may be the same one as this bike.

The pipes are identical because the motors are. But NOBODY HAS THEM. Rocky Mountain has FMF pipes available. I’m debating just snagging one of those. My pro circuit has a bad weld and I wanna get a pipe ASAP.

How do you race a 300 in the 250 class? I thought 125 2-strokes raced with 250 4-strokes.

They probably don't have that rule to race the world 2 stroke championships. That is just the AMA's attempt to stifle the 2 stroke.

It's an open class, I should've clarified that! Last year guys had 300s, 325s, 380s and 500s out there. We had 41 Pros sign up for the open class at Glen Helen last year. Hopefully it's a full gate again!
