The city leaders have yet to explain to us why the teens were at that very location with no warning next to a ballerina studio or next to an art function. These kids saw lawlessness after it got out of hand. The big crowd gathered around by means of social media, which quite frankly didn't exist via cell phone use a tool in the hand way back when. The lawmakers are grown men/ women who are clearly not tech savvy about computers, hense the call on the the law enforcement to " act" which is the same as "teachers" should raise the kids for an easy way out. The adult news casters are clueless and vague except one who talked about the frequent posting via cell phone just to get it viral . I've / we've seen this movie before this wasn't a thing way back and so the adults...us are lagging way behind folks yap no more programming VCR's for us adults by teens now folks .🤡
My ancestors lived in the neighborhoods of Chicago, since the 1800's, that were majority white and are now black. When the blacks moved in some of my older family members refused to leave, but eventually they got fed up with the bad behavior and left. They were some of the last whites to leave. It's sad what has happened to those parts of Chicago. The black neighborhoods may get better someday but not in our lifetime. It's a culture problem. A culture of glorifying crime and turning a blind eye to it.
Unfortunately they blame the lack of resources in their neighborhood but that reason is because they destroy the majority of it & have a lack of respect and accountability in their culture. You won't find that in the Latino communities.
Obviously, all this is a huge business for some corporations bcz between 30% and 40% of all these kids ending in criminal system and prison for years keeping fire on 🔥 and taxpayers paying more and more every year

I am scared for my sister who attends a school at Chicago right now. This garbage with fights and stuff on the South side seriously needs to stop. It is very disheartening and makes me angry that people don’t do anything to stop it.

Parents wouldn't dare. The schools would find out and be furious at them. I live in a small town and used to get papers from my child's school with "discipline advice." Advice like, "When your child screams and yells cruel things to you as a parent, (even, "I hate you") "It's just a phase." Don't respond to it." So you're darn right about that last statement. If it was as simple as that, there would be all races of kids out there. This is a black problem. A broken angry culture that isn't interested in cooperation, just taking and destroying. A lot of police where I'm from just kinda drive around. They ignore some crimes. Obviously if violence is involved they have sense of urgency, but otherwise they just kinda stay outa the way. They dont wanna get sued if they arrest someone. I don't blame them at all. Just collect your checks.
I know where my teens are too. After school they have basketball, soccer, dancing, and swimming Monday - Saturday. Their activities change every season and they have jobs every summer.

This isn't just happening in Chicago. In Philadelphia teens did the same thing, jumping on Police cars, destroying property. The mall put a ban in effect from 2pm so that children without an adult are not allowed in. Someone is organizing this. They know kids won't be arrested and if they are, they won't have a harsh punish. I truly believe its a ploy to either over whelm Police resources or bring them to a point where something happens and people scream Police brutality just to march and riot. Someone's agenda playing out.

I am a black woman and a mother of three grown children. Obviously we have a generation of parents that don't give a damn about what their children do. The behavior that is on display is absolutely ridiculous and as a classic example of parents being friends instead of parents. I teach school and I see this type of behavior starting in kindergarten. When parents are informed about the behavior in the classroom they blame everybody but themselves and it's a shame. I am sure there are black and brown teenagers that do not participate in this nonsense but it only takes a few to put a bad reflection on the ones that are doing the right thing. I hate to sound harsh but I think they should release teargas and that would help disperse the crowds.
What I don't understand is why aren't curfews being enforced for those under age 24, especially in problem areas. If they are not working a job or going to school, they shouldn't be out past 7p.m.

Kids are terrible and it starts with parents today. They let their kids stay home from school. And when a teacher tried to discipline students the parents go to the school and complain. My nephew curses at his mom and is very disrespectful. Her oldest daughter is in state prison.

I was a teenager not too long ago. On Friday nights, after I've finished my homework, I can invite a friend over to watch a movie or play video games. My mom would make us food and my dad would be in the garage working on his car. There are times when my dad would force me to help him with the car. My point is, when there is a proper family structure at home, the probability of the kids becoming law-abiding citizens is much greater.
My parents were like yours which led to me retiring from the Navy after 23 years, graduating college, and being a current federal employee and small business owner.
