Today, I'm tackling a challenge we've all faced: getting our drawings just right. Ever noticed how sometimes the smallest details can make a huge difference in your artwork? Well, I'm about to share a couple of powerful tools that will help you nail those details every time: understanding proportions and utilizing landmarks. Whether you're new to drawing or looking to refine your skills, this tutorial will be a big help (I hope!)

HUMM, what will I measure today. I am loving this series, you have no idea how helpful it has been and I'm not afraid to try to draw anymore.

Another life changing video. Why is that? It's totally reachable today! If I look at the drawing feeds that have shown up since I began watching you....I see a whole lot of doom and gloom! "Draw these shapes", You're doing this wrong" (click bait), "Drawing Mistakes" (disapproving coy look from content creator) !!! Thanks to you...I'm drawing TODAY! If you don't care that you went back over a line....then neither the hell do I!!! lol!!! I make dots! I can do discreet and not so discreet little helpful dots to fix my tubby cup perspective. It was my other fear, that perspective thing. But now I have an easy to follow plan! How did you know? chuckle!! Bless your heart ! :)

If ever there was a lightbulb moment! Funny how something so obvious when it’s pointed out to you can make such a difference. Love this series and your demeanour on camera. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. This lesson was a great review, to watch you go through this process. I had pulled out a shoe to draw the other day, as a personal symbol, so this was especially appreciated. I found the tip on perspective helpful- that this process of measuring, comparing, landmarks, with careful observation, can help you achieve perspective drawing, without all the technical drawing issues of perspective. Blessings everyone.

This video really blew up my mind!!! I was thinking the same thing - OMG, what’s wrong with my drawings, I follow the lines , it becomes pretty good, but something is wrong - I suck at proportions 🙈I thought I would never understand and learn this thing 😅

I assume while measuring it is important to keep the same distance between pen and eye as well as pen and object? Not that easy 😅 Thank you so much for this lesson, I love this tutorial.

I wondered why some artists held the pencil up in front of their face.

Danny, I am not an artist, but I am interested in the editorial/political cartoon arena. I like the way art is combined with commentary in this genre to convey a message. Any advice on how to get started?

@@SketchBookSkool huh I looked it up. It is a tool also called Scale Dividers. Saw some sets of 5 brass dividers. Look sort of like a compass. There are videos of how to use them. Apparently it's a drafting tool. They have different sizes and shapes

@@recoveringsoul755 yes they come in handy. I usually buy a plastic one for cheap. It helps me get the proportions correct on my vintage car drawings/paintings. It also helps you transfer the image to a canvas if needed. You can enlarge or reduce your reference photo.
