My longest overland trip to date launches into Maine, exploring it's natural charms from the logging roads of the North Maine Woods to the rugged coast of Acadia National Park. In the first episode, things get off to a shaky start in Portland, NH. But we (the Jeep and I) eventually hit our stride as we camp by a lake, do some paddling, and push farther north to the threshold of the vast North Maine Woods. August 2023.

20mile is where we check in every time we go up. That first site on the right of the bridge is called Leadbetter due to the name of the Falls there. It's super popular on account of it being the first site after 20mile and it's just a great site. Good views and the area is nice and open. I e stayed there many times but you gotta get there early. Snake Trail was a good one too further up the golden road but the best site there got washed out last year in July or August and it's just not there anymore

@@jimbresnahan it's definitely the most popular. There's some families who kind of stay there religiously too. Big bog is a good spot and Long Pond.

You should research Flagstaff Lake. It is manmade and there is a submerged town under the water surface due to a dam being built.

We say you at flagstaff lake! we rolled in that night in our Landcruiser but as you know that place was full. I wished we would have found your videos earlier we would have loved to say hi! anyway enjoying your content and maybe if you come back.

Probably can’t leave an extra fob in the Jeep with the JL platform. That’s how I travel in the jku, but it’s lower tech.

nice video. Where do you store your Rotopax? I saw that you filled one up but don't recall seeing them mounted externally.

Hi Richard. Instead of rear windows, I got recessed panels on the camper top that fit rotopax. I keep one on the passenger side. Plan to add the driver’s side this summer.

@@jimbresnahan thanks. Have u experienced any gas smell in your jeep? I ask because I’m trying to get my jeep ready for my summer overland trip and due to delays I haven’t been able to kit it out as I was planning. So I was thinking of securing them inside my jeep for now. I’ll be able to mount externally for future trips though.

No smells due to them being mounted externally. Not worth carrying them inside, there's usually a gas station somewhere in range if you plan it out.

how do you access your roof tent? inside the cab? also do you have a walk around video of your rig? I looked but did not see one, might have missed it though

Yes, hatch inside the Jeep. I need to do an official walk-around but in the Maine videos there's some detail.

@@jimbresnahan After watching all of them i saw it. Interesting setup. I live in Mass, and was looking for overlanding areas somewhat near me. I dont have a vehicle yet more just researching everything. Looking at a jeep gladiator myself.

Nice-a Gladiator would be an awesome platform. Download the iOverlander app to find boondocking sites. You aren’t far from tons of good stuff in the ADKs, White Mts, and Maine.

@@jimbresnahan nice. ive heard of onx offroad, ive seen it for my backpacking trails too. good to have another source. I normally do backpacking in the White Mtns so the trails are pretty well documented.
