I've had the new Motorola Edge 2022 for 2 weeks already, and here are my thoughts. This is not a full review, that comes later 🙂. #motorolaedge #edge2022 #review #2weeks
Exactly. I never cared for the "premium feel". I always considered the function and the phone's capabilities at the top. I always put a case on mine anyways. I've seen way too many people with their glass backed phones break when dropped compared to ones with plastic backed phones.
I think the glass back was just a "premium" esk material they could use to also allow wireless charging. So it was really just used to make a phone seem more premium. In addition to the fragility of the glass it also adds unnecessary weight that some complain about...
Agreed, I hate the glass backs, it makes zero sense and makes it feel more fragile than anything. Besides, 99% of the time I have a case on it that covers the back.
Are u talking about a different phone? The guy on this video said MOTO EDGE (not the Plus) has 128GB with no option to add an SD Card. Is this the phone where u can increase to 10 RAM?
Any effective insights about turning OFF system update notifications ? We can turn off system auto-update, at least in developper options, but the notification comes EVERY 24hrs !!! So if you have a way.... I want no sys update. Thank you for your great work !
I just bought the Moto edge 2022 today. 2-28-2023. Free phone with second line. $70. A month Unlimited Plan for 2 phones. I paid $92. One time fee. My main Phone is Poco x3 gt, of which I paid $265. Last year. Both are Great Phones.
Hey Eric great great video. Thanks for the video not many on this phone.. how do you het the set up you have on your home screen. The google serach bar at the bottom
Do not buy this phone if you want to snap a quick photo or video--it feels like it takes 10 seconds to load the camera/video and by the time it's ready to snap the moment is gone.
I just bought it because my Samsung A53 is just way too slow. That processor is total garbage. The A53 is excellent in everything except processor. Plus I hate Samsung's bloatware.
@@pt_trainer9244 can you notice the less ram? And is the camera really that bad? I ordered one on Amazon for $139 brand new lol, I had a galaxy s23 ultra and cracked the screen and didn’t feel like paying $300+ dollars to repair it. So I changed carriers to cricket and got a brand new iPhone 12 for $140 after taxes. I miss my android so i thought I would order this phone and use it at work/home/hotspot. Also because my iPhone 12 battery sucks lol.
@@pt_trainer9244 what variant do you have? 6/128 or 8/256 gb? And is the camera really that bad? Also I have galaxy s23 ultra but I cracked the screen and didn’t want to pay $300+ to fix it. So I changed carriers to cricket and got an iPhone 12 for $89 about $160 after activation fees and taxes. But I realized I missed my android, so I thought this phone would be a good compromise. I’ll probably just use it on WiFi/hotspot, and another reason I bought it is because my iPhone 12 battery is pretty bad. I was going to trade in my iPhone in 6 months after it’s unlocked and get the iPhone 16 pro max, but since I bought the Motorola edge I’ll probably just use this iPhone until the 17 comes out. So in the end I saved myself more money and I get to use both operating systems. Sorry for typing a lot, one more question. Does it still feel snappy after downloading all your apps?
Im always looking for phones with comparatively shitty cameras because it usually means that the company spent their money somewhere else that I care about. I've settled that i have the weirdo opinion to not have a burning need to take professional photographer quality pictures of my cute dog or myself twice a day. Anyway I ordered this from amazon for $250 and I'm pretty excited for it since I care about good display snappyness and good speakers and good battery. I also love moto gesture to turn on the light. It's baffling this isn't just standard on modern phones. I actually use that literally everyday.
@@Odom0407 I really like it. It definitely feels like a premium phone compared to my Moto power 2020. The OLED display is gorgeous. I Did have one thing where when I first got the phone the battery had like a 30 minute charge at 50% and I was worried that the battery was bad. But after charging it to full it's now got the expected battery time. Setting up the fingerprint was a real big pain. For some reason the program kept glitching out but after like 20 tries I finally managed to set up fingerprint unlock. Speakers sound great and the 120hz display is buttery smooth. Cultist simulator is the only game I Play on the phone and the chip handles it easily where my old phone did not like that game.
😂😂😂😂 you'll be surprised that consumers won't buy a phone unless the camera is good. But the flip side is why do we use the phones the most for to make phone calls right? text messages when did that not be important when it comes to Smartphones😆😆
Yeah as you was pointing I seen the flashes on the camera it was almost like you was taking a picture with another phone and it has the flash flickering
I was considering getting this on T-Mobile since it’s “free”. Which isn’t completely accurate as you have to pay taxes and it takes 2 months for the bill credits to kick in. Still, this looks like a great phone for price. I do think Motorola should’ve charged $399 unlocked for this phone. My opinion is glass is too overrated. I’d rather see a frosted plastic back for durability. Glad to see an in display fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Cameras are usually the weak point of Motorola phones. It is cool this device will get 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. Overall this seems like a good value if you didn’t want to spend a lot.
Thanks for the video. One suggestion? I thought I was having audio problems on my computer because of the silence in the first 10-ish seconds. So I'd put some audio there, or if there is some audio, make it MUCH louder. 🙂
The Motorola edge plus 2022 is on sale for $499 right now on the their website, I found it on Black Friday at best buy, open box basically new for $450, I had to get it for the price, and it's basically what I miss on my pixel 7 pro with the fast charging at 68watts, and ready 4 desktop mode and stylus support.
Amazon has it for $312 rt now. However, no charging brick included? That's too bad. You can buy a new One Plus 9 for around the same price. Guess I'll need to make a decision. ✌️
The front facing video is yikes. Luckily I am used to filming myself with the back camera for YT videos. I'm loving the Motorola Edge as well. I'm upgrading from an LG V35, so the Edge 2022 is a huge step up. Oh, and the speakers are amazing!
@@vvvios me personally, I would say so. For what you get, it's a great value. My only gripes are the lack of water resistance like there was on the LG V35, and sometimes the Edge goes in and out of charging in the initial stages (for me it happens twice after plugging into the charging port, then it stops). Other than that, it's been a solid phone for a year and half.
@@dmp3231966 I must have a dud then cuz I hate this phone SO MUCH!! It's extremely difficult to use. It jumps pages so easily and I lose all my typing, it buffers constantly, it goes blank and doesn't pull the page up, I'll type and send a edit to a comment but my phone still only shows the unedited one. It's weight is off balance so it's bottom heavy and impossible to hold. I can't believe how much I hate this phone and I'm so disappointed in it. I researched for weeks.
This is a great phone. Got it for free at T-Mobile. I use it as a secondary phone for my House and I been using it a lot. It's light and can do pretty much anything. If you're in a Budget I'd definitely recommend it. Battery takes long to charge and photos that I send to my s22 ultra via Whatsapp look sorta bad.
Why doesn't any phone reviewer ever talk about or show the KEYBOARD? The keyboard is the most important feature on the phone for we use it every single time we turn the phone on. But nobody ever shows it. Nobody ever talks about it. I just do not understand for the typing is very different on different keyboards. The two phonr got rid of immediately after purchase was due to bad keyboards that didn't work properly. Does this have a DEDICATED NUMBER ROW that you do not have to press shift in order to use numbers? How is the autocorrect? does it work correctly without putting in words that don't exist and changing correctly spelled words? Thank you .
Man I really hope you get the opportunity to get your hands on a Moto edge 2023 because I'm telling you at the price point it's at right now for 349.99 everything that has to offer it's truly unbeatable when it comes to these budget phones that are priced around the range of the edge 2023 if it goes back up to the original MSRP which is 599 definitely not worth it at best this phone should range close to 450.00
Watched a few videos cant figure this out, does it have the chop motion to turn on the flashlight and twist to open the camera features like other phones of theirs form the past?
Started reading the comments first, I can finally say I'm proud to use boost mobile. For being a long-time customer The edge Plus is available as an upgrade for 250 😁😁
@@playerroku4412the stores try to rip people off that are eligible for that price. One tried to charge me 249 and i made him aware that i knew the upgrade price. He said the cheapest would be $200 since i had to have a new sim card (lie)
To me personally I'd say the screen is a bit small. I couldn't get the fingerprint sensor setup to work after trying about 10 or 15 times each time saying it failed after giving a bunch of fingerprints. The face unlocked didn't work if I was wearing something on my head but then after updating to Android 13 it did work when I was wearing something on my head so maybe I'll try the fingerprint sensor again. But for me I'd say it feels a bit small I would much rather prefer the size of the Motorola edge 2021 with a 6.8 insurance display. That's just for me coming from using a 6.7-in display for about 3 years. Oh and also the self-free camera is damn blurry It's a lot blurier than the one on my old Motorola one 5G Ace 2021, Even this one is supposed to be twice as many megapixels for that camera. I mean how does that make sense
Just be sure to go into notifications and turn off all except E-mail and messages, all others are set by default to send notifications. it'll drive you nuts if you don't!
I wish so much that there was a quick, easy way to disable all notifications except for necessary ones (phone calls, voicemail, text messages, etc.) Android notification spam is absolutely horrid. iPhone does it miles better by asking you "do you wish to receive push notifications" the first time you launch every single app, so by choosing "no" each time, I get zero spam. It blows my mind how most people's phones are genuinely advertising spam devices due to those insane constant push notifications. It's like having an email inbox packed with constant spam.
@@vvvios Android code is Open Source and Google makes it income on Android by pushing advertising, that is why you have to turn notifications off one by one, the majority of User lack simple Tech Knowledge and 95% of users get pushed notifications that collect data and Goggle makes money on android. If they put an easy solution to it they would lose revenues, don't ever expect it to change as long as Android is a free OS.
I've had it for a month. I was hoping it could be a daily driver for when I retire my LG V60, but it's not for me. The battery life wasn't great for my use. I had connectivity issues. I hate the UI. Simply hate the UI. The camera shutter lag is god awful. Takes forever to snap a pic. If it's a motion shot forget about it. The action is over by the time this thing takes the pic. I found the chipset to be fairly slow. I was very disappointed by this. That's just my experience with it.
I had it for a week and the camera opened up just as fast as my Stylus 2021. The speed as far as apps was quick so none of that was the problem for me. I returned it because Ready For did not work as advertised. The wireless connection to my PC was useless, it only connected wirelessly to my Roku Streambar one time(each time after it would time out) and wired with a USB C to HDMI dongle did not work at all after trying two differerent dongles and I'm not about to spend another $60 for the official Ready For dock.
I couldn't pass up the deal, I have and iphone 14pro max, but with boost mobile my plan there is only $25.00, so I couldn't give up my boost mobile account, so now I have 2 phones
I'm having a hard time. At T-Mobile it's $499. I'm looking at this or the Pixel 7. But I also want good battery life and I hear and have read the Pixel 7 isn't great at battery life. Just torn.
I wanted to like the phone. But it always disconnects from data all the time. Never holds it for more then 2 hours. Display is Amazing but not having data sucks. Went back to my s21 plus
That's what I was afraid of with the media Tek chipset. I had s LG velvet and that thing would never stay connected it drove me crazy couldn't make calls or even texts
@@dodgedeath1635can you expand on your comment please and tell me a bit about this chip set that disconnects from data. Is this a big problem? Or It is glitch on some phones? Should phones with this chip be avoided? Thanks so much. Appreciate any info .
The 256gb uses mediatek whereas the 512gb uses the far superior Snapdragon Gen 1. My 512 is so fast and efficient. Very good phone. I have no idea what the 256gb version feels like but on paper its significantly lacking.
Not really. My last phone was a moto g power 2020 which had significantly lower specs compared to the 2022 edge with mediatek 1050 chipset.. and that phone was still very fast for normal everyday needs. I honestly couldn't find anything that ran 'slowly' and the edge has a faster processor and almost triple the ram. It's far from 'lacking' especially at $250
@@Hatemode_NJ Was 256Gb on the Moto Edge Plus? My new Moto Edge 2022 only comes with 128Gb & 8Gb RAM. There's no SD slot. That's the only thing I don't like about this phone.
@@wakeywakey8603 I don't have the plus. Just the edge 2022 but mine has 256gbs and 8gb ram. I thought the 128gb only came with 6gb ram but I could be wrong. I also wish it had a headphone jack, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. One thing I love about moto phones is they almost always have good speakers. I didn't think it mattered in the past, but now that both my phones have had dual good sounding speakers it would be hard to go back to one
@@SICERIKTECH its nice, but I'll have to admit that sometimes it lags a bit (when doing certain tasks), and photo taking is meh, takes a bit to take a photo (delay between pressing the photo button and it actually taking the picture), but overall it's a good phone.
You didn't get that phone for free. You had to add a line which costs money so how the hell is that for free?? This phone's not worth the money. I sent mine back.
I strongly dislike the Motorola edge 2021 to me I think that was the worst iteration of this series I didn't like it so much I just gave it to my nephew who needed a phone he didn't complain about it but yeah I did not like the experience Bill quality and everything else to me was just a mess performance
