Nice build Nathan. Jeremy"s got a superior design there. I also deviated from his build. I used hitch receiver tubing. it doesn't have a seam inside but it still needs the corner cutting trick cause it's a loose fit. I mounted my motor on the end with a face plate. Changing the plans like you simplified the build for me.

Agreed, Jeremy's design is awesome. I thought about a faceplate mount but wasn't sure I could get it cut and mounted perfectly. The base allows for just a little adjustment. Thanks for the comments

Nice build, I like the small foot print it has. Like you I only have a very small workshop. Just purchased a used treadmill motor and electronics to start my build. Thanks

Nathan, Great video - you said at one point you you weren't going to bore us with things you were doing. I for one am not bored at all. Thanks for sharing how you altered Jermey's plans. I like your way better than using all that flat bar he used. Have you found that the 1 hp motor has been enough given that Jeremy said at least 2 and maybe 3 hp. Enjoyed your video. Looking forward to the next one.

David, The 1HP work good for my small shop. If I was building something for a commercial application or using it everyday I would probably go with a 3 HP. I may upgrade it in the future but for now it works great.

Hey Nathan, I like how you used a platen instead of going from the original plan. Was it difficult to make that adjustment?
@spbuilds
@spbuilds 4 года назад
No, it was really easy. I think it made the build a lot less complicated. At least for me.

Where did you get the engine control card, you can write the connection type, features. 1 phase input 3 phase output?

Is the motor you used single phase or three phase 220?

Mike, I’m curious to know why you ask, being a motor/electrical geek. 3P is hard to come by in residential service here in the U. S. , unfortunately for us machine heads. I suppose it’s a 240VAC 1P since he bought it new.

You built a Jeremy Schmidt grinder, cool project. Why did you not built it to the plan, ie the belt sits over the right tube/box section? Yours sits to the side. I think your grinder is great but you might lose some advantages of the original design...
@spbuilds
@spbuilds 5 лет назад
Part of it was I didn't build the platen like Jeremy did. Another reason is for future platen designs. I can use the same arm and attach them. I think the only thing I gave up was a little bit of compactness. Thank for watching

The hinging mechanism is based on Jeremy Schmidts design. The rest is just me designing around the hinge.
