Electric jacks are the bomb! We have a Lance 881 max and love it. When we get to our site the first thing we do is put the jacks down for stability. You should look into a lance 981 max. The floor pan is a game changer. It is a 4 season camper with a slide. Bigger tanks. Ac, the list goes on……. More head room when in bed, the bathroom is in the middle. Not when you first walk in…..we love love our max camper ❤

I enjoyed your Colorado and Idaho adventures. You asked for suggestions. The timing might be wrong but you have the perfect rig to explore the inside passage up in Alaska. Since all travel in an rv is by ferry, your current rig is the cheapest way to do that. Before you upgrade to something larger, investigate numerous day time travel to new cities or islands and stay 3 days to a week at each. Temps don't require AC and you'll never need to use your jacks to unload your camper. The ferry offers the best way to see marine life (much better than a cruise). If this sounds interesting, board the ferry system at Prince Rupert and go north from there.

Just remove your vent fan and install an ac unit. Your camper should be pre wired for it. Wires are under that outlet cover next to the vent fan.

You can rent a camper van in Iceland and do the loop. It is a excellent adventure for your first trip over seas. You can do the same in England, Ireland and Scotland!

We had an 07 Lance 835 on a 06 Ram 2500. We also wanted a bigger camper. We went with a 2015 Ram 3500 and a 2018 Eagle Cap 811. It's the best decision we've ever made! The 811 has a slide, and they make the biggest bathroom in the industry. We've also done many upgrades including, 2 )1oo amp hour batteries, a side awning, 2) 200 watt solar panels a AC soft start and next up grade is a victron 3000 watt inverter. The truck camper is awesome and loved the old one, which we called the sport model, and were now in to the " Luxury liner ". We LOVE IT!

2 years?! Wow! Boy does time fly! It has been a huge pleasure not only watching your channel grow, but watching the two of you grow into your roll as full time YTers! I think you are heading in the right direction with your thoughts on your channel for the next year. As for international travel…my personal opinion is only do it here and there. Your channel is about living full time in a truck camper. I used to follow a couple, about your age, who lived full time in a class , motorhome. I thoroughly enjoyed their videos, just as I do yours. However, they turned their channel into 100% international travel and I have yet to watch a single one of their videos…I followed them because the life style they led (just like yours) is the life style I hope to live one day. So, to be selfish, from my side, don’t change your business model too much. Anyways, looking forward to what the next two years has to offer for the 3 of you! Excited to continue on the journey with you! Btw might want to look into the Arctic Fox 865…aluminum framing, larger tanks, solids built 4 season camper and would offer you more room than your Lance. I’m no truck weight expert, but think you have enough truck to handle it, but might need to do a couple of suspension mods. As always, stay safe out there…..

One additional suggestion ~ recommendation. If you'd be interested in a canoeing ~ camping trip to spend a little time away from the truck camper, check out the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota! Outfitters can provide all the gear, etc. that you'd need, and it's 1 million acres of pristine wilderness, and an area you will never forget. There's tons of wildlife and it's a great experience. Do a web search and you'll find a lot of great information on it!

A hole saw with minor cuts will solve your problem with that manual jacks by using cordless drill to crank it up and down

We have enjoyed watching you tackle the challenges of the full time truck camper lifestyle. We are retiring this coming year and plan to hit the road full time in our truck camper also! We originally bought a Palomino Backpack, very similar to your Lance. We quickly determined the tank capacity was too small! We upgraded to a new-to-us Arctic Fox...four season TC. We were " anti slider's" too! But this one, with a single slide, increased our space as well as storage. And best of all when the slide is fully in we can still access our truck camper! We would greatly love if you would share more details about your locations, campgrounds that you are visiting. We are always wondering where you're at exactly and what's the name of the businesses such as the restaurants or campgrounds that you're patronizing. It would also be helpful for you to include some of the details that you encounter when you're traveling from one location to another. Travel planning, destination choices and how you choose where you're going to camp are details that we would also be interested in hearing about! Are there any specific apps that you use? We look forward to the next year of traveling along with you!

We love watching you guys! I love the style of your videos and the music you use. We're with you on the slides. We bought a used 2004 Lance 1030 after looking at larger models that had slides. It's just heavier and introduces something else that can go wrong. Plus, like you said, when you stop for lunch, you can't just hop into the camper. As for our favorite thing--it's the A/C. We're in the southeast, so it's a must and as we look for something new that's a non-negotiable item to include. If you need some adventurous ideas, something fun we did last year was to use our camper as a home base for the night while we backpacked to a tent site for the night on the Appalachian Trail. (We're weekend campers.)

Agreed long form videos are the way to go. If there were any shorts, I assume it would be Barkley. (always welcome).. or maybe an occasional outtake / interesting teaser to an upcoming video.

A few more thoughts. Slideouts? Rv repair technicians hate them. They are notorious for leaking air and water as they age. More weight, expense, and maintenance. Electric jacks? No way. My Northstar Adventurer 8.5 Hardside Camper has the standard hapijack jacks. I put a bit in a portable electric drill. On high speed I can lower the jack plate to the ground in 7 seconds! Slow electric jack motors can't match this. Is your roof on your Lance camper metal? Hot and cold temperatures will cause the metal to expand and contract around the roof vents. Roof seals around these vents need to be checked for water intrusion. The Northstar Adventurer 8.5 has a EPDM rubber roof. Hardly any expansion and contraction around the roof vents. The Northstar Adventurer 8.5 Truck Camper is no longer in production. The new Northstar Wind Bandit has the same layout and floorplan. Finally. The Navajo Mechanics here at the Dodge Dealership in Farmington New Mexico say that the Cummins engine in my 1998 2500 Dodge truck is a million mile engine. A Navajo Lady overhauls the Diesel engines at the dealership! Wow. Aloha.

I loved the Mackinaw Island video. Some of my favorites are travel days and errands. Would love to see you visit more places. Historic sites or some film locations or monumental places like Mount Rushmore or the Grand Canyon. Quartzite to the truck camper rally would be cool also. Maybe some campfire cooking. I also watch Larry at Work Less Enjoy Life More and KennyofAllTrades and love their campfire recipes.

Lance 1191 2015 has a slide, my 2nd fave is a Arctic Fox 1140 dry bath. My fav is a Host Yukon 11.6.

I always love your videos because it does show me what a few days are like at a destination! I personally like more cooking involved. Maybe outdoor cooking? Always like the bathroom reviews! Great job on another successful year fulltime living on the road♡

There are so many used arctic fox campers out there with beautiful floor plans. They’re all season too. We have a Wolf Creek and it looks like yours on the inside and we wish we had the slide bigger model 990. We’ve met so many arctic fox owners and they can get in and out of their units even with the slides in, very few issues too. Something to think about. Love your travels. We travel with our little dog Finn and we’ve named our camper the Flying Finn 😅

AN Arctic Fox model 865 may be a non-slide camper that you may want to look at. It's a little heavy though!

Good video. I agree with what some people think camping is it’s different to every person. We really like to go out with our truck camper and there has been times we spent the night at a campground with it. It’s been great both ways. I’d like to see you guys become members of the GPAA. And go hit every gold claim that they have in all 50 states that would be awesome to see in my opinion.

I know you mentioned Michigan was one of your favorite destinations, and with springtime and warmer weather right around the corner, I'd love to see you travel to State and National Parks in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Having traveled, camped and fished in some of these states, I think you would have a great time exploring the diverse landscapes of the West and Midwest and your followers could suggest some great camping areas and destinations. I own a 2018 wood frame Northstar adventurer 8.5 Truck Camper. Dry weight is 1940 pounds. It is mounted on a 1998 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins Diesel with a 5 Speed manual transmission. From Farmington New Mexico to Cortez Colorado it got 19 MPG at highway speeds. 20-22 MPG when the camper is off the truck. A wood frame truck camper is a lot warmer than a hollow frame Aluminum camper. When camping near Gunnison Colorado at 10,000 feet elevation, the morning temperature inside this camper is 5-7 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. That is with no heater running at night. It would be warmer than that if 2 people were inside the camper. Aluminum frame campers can't match this. Air conditioning units weigh about 100 pounds and come with a $1300 price tag. Something to think about. This camper is only 7 feet wide. Less sway when your going or stopping. Storms when camping? In the late 1970's, a bad storm came through the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. I saw it rain 48 inches of rain in 72 hours. Human graves were washed out into the ocean. Aloha!

The Host Camper is made with Aluminum Structure... not sure who else makes aluminum frame campers but I know others exists. I purchased a brand new late 2021 Yukon and a year later had water leaks coming in from all three slides. And in 2023 found water leaks coming in through the top back corner. Also, the Host Camper is not 4 season... during winter the floor gets really cold and you will also feel the cold draft coming in through the slides. Some sections on the over-cab don't seem to be well insulated especially at the front. Also, when getting into the shower you will feel like you are floating... meaning, the shower floor does not feel sturdy and firm when you step into it so you will notice the shower floor flexing. And another thing to keep in mind is that the Host Camper is HEAVY so you will need a Hefty Truck... so definitely not nimble when traveling. Surely my camper is a Covid-Truck-Camper but even with all these issues, I have come to love my camper because of the amount of space and storage inside and out. Also, my HOst came pre-installed with plenty of battery & solar so that is a definite plus. Do I recommend a Host Camper for you?... NOPE! If I could do it all over again I would get a custom Capri Camper based in Texas.

The electric jacks are awesome! Since we aren’t full timing in our Lance camper, we take it on and off a lot. I think Carol’s favorite piece of gear is a pop up shower tent when she wants to utilize the outdoor shower. It’s great because we’re not filling our gray tank. Safe travels!

After moving from a 29ft camper+truck to a motorhome we missed a lot our external kitchen so our current favorite gear is a small fishing table with sink and our 12V/110V cooler/freezer. Together with the coleman grill it is the perfect set up . Have had campers with slides for 8 years and didn't really have problems with them that was not solved under warranty. I would say, based on our experience, that maintenance is not a reason to give them a pass but a truck camper with slides may get you over your payload....

I think you guys should head north you would love it and Connor you won’t have to worry about the heat. I am like you always hot and I spent 15 years living in Plano TX. I am glade to be in the mountains. Can’t wait to see the new camper 😜

I just HAD to comment on the BORING comment in this video. Never bored here!! I enjoy all your videos and watch them over and over. I watched everything back to the cargo trailer. Barkley is very adorable. He can really make me smile lol. Connor, you give us tons of useful information. I'm a fan of your old-fashioned chivalry towards Amelia. And Amelia, you inspire me to show my happier side every day. You both are such a pleasure all the time. I especially love watching the driving and traveling, the scenic shots on your hikes, and the drone shots of the overall areas are amazing! My husband and I get lots of ideas and tips to use on our camping trips.

Lance. We have a 2004, 1121 Lance with Electric Jacks. GREAT!!! Especially at 79 yrs young.

Aluminum frame is adding weight. All truck campers with aluminum frame still have wood in the core to run screws in and be secure. It does protect some from water and make a stronger connection, but not the siding composite, only the wood inside the aluminum. Just sayin!

We enjoy you guys every week. We still like watching even though we have to wait another week for the surprise😮😂! No shorts!

A thought, change your existing solar panel to a 3 or 400 watt panel

I think incorporating more adventures such as sailing, water skiing, fishing, and I really like seeing cooking in the YT channels I follow. You two should consider maybe starting a cook book? You two are awesome! Love you guys! And Barkley is a bit irresistible 😍

Another note, we recently made the switch from truck camper to cargo trailer conversion. For our short weekend trips it was just too much work to load/unload. Also gave us some more room for the kiddos.

Regardless of the situation, I am determined to avoid having a slide-out. According to everyone I've spoken with who has them, slides inevitably develop leaks.

Do what you love, that's what makes a good video. Rain, snow, wind videos always seem to perform the best for all creators. Don't take advice from crazy unknown people like us in the internet! 😂

If you went with diesel, you would easily eat up your 400lb margin for GVWR, so gas was a good choice. Otherwise you would be in dually territory weight wise.

You should check out the new Lance truck campers, they come with an a/c unit, they have an aluminum frame and they are four season rated. Also they are much taller on the inside than other makes.

I live in Scotland far north if you doing international try the Highlands and islands they are absolutely beautiful

Look for an old Lance 1191 2015, or a 1172. You would need a upgraded truck. If you can afford more look at Eagle Cap, Adventurer or you may find a good deal with Host. I am looking for a good Yukon 11.6 Host deal or Cascade 10.5 model.

I love watching your videos. I want to travel in the next year and a half if possible. I have a travel-trailer and I'm really looking at a truck camper. I was wondering if it would be easier or harder for a solo camper and the cat. Thank you for all the beautiful places you show. I live in ohio and I can't wait to see the west.

A little late to the game here. Regarding slideouts, we have a lance 2285 travel trailer which we love, but seeing you all setting up and tearing down quickly prompted us to look for a travel trailer without a slideout. Besides the fact that when we stop just for a night it's not real convenient, a slideout is one more thing that can cause issues. We're looking forward to being able to zip in and out with less work.

Check out the Palomino 2901. We used to travel full time but now have a house in Colorado and travel part time. Just bought a 2901 and love it! If you have questions, let us know. We have been doing this since 2018 now and have learned a few things by now. 😂

Many of us enjoy off-grid camping. However, we don't know which national parks have nearby camping without making reservations way in advance. Maybe you could come up with a little regional circuit of known parks that you didn't require a reservation. Then share roughly were you stayed.

Just a heads up! I had a Lance camper a while back, and the heater started making noise. I was able to get to the fan and oiled it up. No more noise, for over a year till I sold it. Probably still ok. Easy fix, and only took about 15 mins.!

Moving slower you should consider a trailer so you can drop and the drive…you have been isolated by winter camping so now you will start to meet more people and see more active opportunities…. Also you have not had any running water so I look forward to camp cooking now that you have water….

I like your vids, just go to different places, show us where to go to eat, what the local things to see that is popular. You tend to stay in a campground and hike with Barkley all the time. It is good, just not all the time. Do a campground review, eat in a local town etc.

Hey guys, love your channel. I am contemplating going on the road traveling full time. I have a 1 ton dodge dually with a 1993 Lance camper that weighs about 3,400 pounds empty. My truck is plenty big and capable of hauling 5,000 pounds. My question is this……after all of your travels…..would you weather have s big heavy truck camper with all of the amenities? Or would it be better to keep it light so you don’t limit where you can travel? Thanks guys. Be safe. ✌️

If you are taking questions for future Q&A, #1 Have you been denied at an RV park because you are in a truck camper, or ever had to keep the truck connected for RV park rule? #2 why not buy the motors for your jacks, your rig seems to already have the power ports for them. #3 Unless you really need to suspend your Starlink service, why are you still paying 150/month you can do 120 and just move your address as you move. #4 have you considered DNA testing for the dog, you are asked what kind of dog he is frequently. I bet the audience would fund the test. LOL.
