@@RifetOkic Why would I check out a list that has the same 5 games on it? I for one find it refreshing that those aren't on the list. It's not a top 20, it's just 20 games.
Terminator and Robocop is pure Gold. The Thump sound Robocop makes when walking and the original soundtrack and all that makes is sooooo gooood. Pure nostalgia.
I absolutely loved Still Wakes the Deep. I do like cinematic games like that. Plus the major horror element and the awesome writing, with the voice acting, kept me engaged the entire time. Lets not forget the visuals. They were impressive to say the least.
As a 3d artist, I was really impressed with the visual side of the game - totally AAA level. But what fascinated me the most in the end was the sound design and the voice acting: The awesome accents, the emotion in the voices, the rain and the sea, the desperate monster cries in the distance - top notch.
Gameranx is King of the gaming channels, AA is one of my life-long favorite genres, and i know Falcon is a big fan of them as well, knows his stuff. So, when i see an alert for a Gameranx video about AA games, i instantly knew Falcon would be at the helm and i instantly got excited
Evil West was a blast! Like old days, there are minions, then there are bosses, no open world, and a beautiful leveling system. Graphics was great too, with a too over the top story. Just like ol'days.
I loved it. It doesn't force an open world. The point of the game is focused action not shoehorned exploration. And the story is fine. Its campy. Its supposed to be silly. I don't get why everyone says the story is bad. Its not RDR2. Its a action game harkening back to the early to mid 2000s.
The problem with this game is a serious bug in the save system, PC or console, that sends the player hours back after coming back to the game even if the game said that it saved seconds were the player is It's a matter of luck this happening or not. Happened to me so I dropped the game.
Neither do I, if being honest. I realized in the last decade that I usually just play modern Square Enix stuff and that lasts me for years (so, one upfront cost of $70 stretched over three or four years. Not bad. And actually, a few of those games were purchased used or months after release, so were much cheaper than that). Maybe I might throw in an indie game or two during that time but I usually meander back to the JRPG when the new mechanics of whatever I'm playing become too much of a headache to want to learn after a long day of work 😅. Or, my gaming motion sickness kicks in when I've panned the camera one too many times (still happens in the JRPG's, too, but a good story can helpnstave it off). So, gaming channels have been my doorway into what is happening beyond my little niche and the best channels have compelling hosts and this one is certainly becoming one of my favorites 😊.
I don't really play much anymore myself but I still love watching videos about them and still love learning about new ones and things going on in the industry. I've enjoyed them my whole life. Even back in the 80s and 90s when it wasn't cool to like video games, even for kids.
I'm some-way through Trepang2. Difficult game for me but I'm enjoying it. I completed High on Life, too, and that one was a little buggy for me in places, but I also liked it. You have to like Rick and Morty humour, though, haha.
The AA market is what AAA should be. The budget gives them more opportunities with more staff and developers but flexible enough to do more abstract and unique genre changes.
Such a great list and video! Idk why but this list made me so excited about trying fun new games again. These days I see and hear so much about a game before it launches. I miss going to a friends house and seeing a game I've never heard about before and wanting to play it. Some of the games in this list gave me that feeling back. Thank you Gameranx!
I bought American Arcadia two days ago after watching this. Really good and especially considering I'm a Tarkov main and now not played Tarkov for 2 days!
Honestly thought this was just gonna be a generic list of 20 games we've all either played or heard off. Really appreciate yall highlighting some lesser known titles we might be on the fence on purchasing
Same. I'm good but I'm not "beat the game not on easy" good. Kuroki usually hobbles me on her first stage, but I've mastered the second part. Then I can't quite beat the 4th boss yet. Working on it. She's a glass cannon though. I'm focusing on the arenas.
I played Evil West. ROBOCOP, A plagues tale all from this list and they all was 100 percent outstanding. Going to pick up a couple from the list that I forgot about thanks Falcon!
I was incredibly surprised by "Still Wakes The Deep". Superb voice acting and great atmosphere. Yeah, it's linear sort-of walking sim (kinda), but I enjoyed every minute of it.
I strongly suggest Gameranx that please make this video a yearly bi-yearly thing. Like someone should find out the best AA titles out there and show it to people like us.
I love how everyone in Gameranx explains they want to show off but won't reveal massive spoilers for the story for those that want to play it. Big love for that man.
I consider The Talos Principle 2 "AAA" game because I love that game so much. I love New Jerusalem, I love exploring different worlds, and I love the puzzles in the game. Thank you for bringing that up. I wish it were #1 though, but that's just me.
There’s something special about the Plague Tale series. They quickly became two of my favourite games ever when I played them recently. Amazing story and world, great, well-written characters I really grew to care about. I was crying so much towards the end of Requiem.
What i love about your channel is you always put time stamps.. you don't waste time. You value yours subscribers choice. We love that.. just wanted to remind u. We love this
Still Wakes the Deep (easy a MUST PLAY!) and Robocop: Rogue City are one of the biggest surprises recently - fantastic UE5 graphics, great atmosphere and overall a very nice experience. Definitely recommended!
Gameranx does more to the gaming community than they know, it keeps us people who does not ready any gaming blogs or report to be always up to date. Plus the fact that they introduce alot of games I haven't heard of
Remnant 2 is probably in my top 3 games of this console generation. Gunfire games actually listen to their fan base and the dlc are only 10 dollars and add hours upon hours to the game. One of the best studios making games today
Falcon, I am happy to see Asterigos listed! I really feel a lot of people slept on this one and am glad to see it get some love! Also, shame that Unicorn Overlord isn't on PC.
Tayon really impressed me last year with RoboCop. So I went ahead and checked out their earlier Terminator game and it also just oozes atmosphere and respect for that franchise. Gameplay is a little bit rougher but if you're a fan, I highly recommend it. Especially on a sale price
There's a lot of game info channels i watch but gameranx are the ones who post interesting videos daily. If it was just 2 or 3 good videos but, it's not and that's worth a subscribe.
Two Point Hospital is another spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. Highly recommend. Once you finish the main campaign, there's DLC to be had and other challenges.
2:20 One thing I’d say about Still Wakes The Deep: if you’re Scottish, particularly west or central belt, you’ll appreciate the genuine Scots accents and genuine Scottish terms that you won’t here in many, if any, other games It adds to the Emerson to hear the characters calling each other cnts, fuds and neds It’s a really good story and it’s very accurate for the time it’s set - offshore North Sea The only accent missing to complete the immersion is Doric but some Scots struggle with the Aberdonian tongue, let alone letting it loose on Yanks and Sassanachs “Fits that?” “Chuckin” “Fit? Lucks like juck” “Naw, it’s nae juck. Chuckin”
Love Crab Souls. Light hearted, fun, and challenging enough. I like how you receive a unique spell ability that's dependent on what shell you're wearing lol.
After seeing it on many lists about the most underrated games I finally gave Mad Max a try. I wasn't expecting to be very interested - the world seemed kind of bleak and repetitive, but the gameplay was surprisingly fun and very satisfying. I've now put about 80 hours into it and really recommend it to anyone looking for a good open-world game.
If you like Metroidvania that are brutal but have great mechanics (Sekiro parries in a Metroidvania!) and deep lore, 9 Sols is an unmissable choice. Favorite non-AAA of the year so far.
Stray, Evil West, Sakuna, Remnant, Ghostrunner, Plague Tale, Sifu definetly had no regrets playing through ps+ and later bought the disc. Another Crab was cute, charming and brutal crabs-like, my 2nd fave after Lies of P. Have to mention Kena cuz it was amazing.
I don't know how to calculate the number of A's a developer has, but let me tell you, I will never regret buying this game. It's still getting big updates that add hours of gameplay, on TOP of the multi-hundred-hour gameplay the game already has. Best bang for my buck since Minecraft.
In my case there are so many great AAA titles -- and I have limited time between kids + work -- I just can't justify checking out the AA and below world. I know I'm probably missing out, but the AAA world provides all the gaming I could ever need.
As a fan of 80's action movies, Rogue City is one of the best licensed games ever. It wasn't aiming for anything revolutionary but it didn't need too. It just needed to do the Robocop IP justice and it did so in spades. Still yet to play their Terminator game but yeah, Rogue City was definitely top of the GOTY list.
Its more indie, but everyone should play SANABI. First game i can remember, let alone an indie action platformer, that made me cry. Especially given the subject matter really hitting home from personal experience - even tho its futuristic Korean setting lol. Also, another awesome South Korean game!!!
Absolutely loved Evil West, total surprise with such a random and fun game compared to what comes out constantly. Personally enjoyed the story line a lot, but I also love FPS with stories. Buy and play it if you want to have a fun and unique experience!
It’s been a handful of years but gonna give a shout to Greedfall and 2 is still aiming to hit early access this year. It had that Spiders jank especially at launch but the RPG of it all was really fun to play, almost evoking some BioWare vibes
Ah yeah that number 1 game got hands for sure In all seriousness though, thanks for the high praise! Super glad to hear you (and so many others!) have enjoyed our kung-fu journey.
