After a month we FINALLY leave Montana and camp for a few days at Rose Lake in Idaho. We hike into the Bitterroot Mountains, before entering Washington State and camping in an incredible forest.
Lots of daily on the road living. To date (4 months) we haven't paid for a place to stay!

I'm enjoying your rv trip videos just as you two are enjoying the journey. However, I look forward to you getting back to the boat as you do.

:) Life is interesting in it's winding ways. This break from the boat has definitely allowed us to take a step back and see the sailing trip in a new light (while also exploring some of the most beautiful places in the US!). I feel so incredibly fortunate to have this time away from sailing. We spent 5 years working on our boat and a few years racing every week...In short by the time we left on the sailing trip from New Orleans we were good and immersed in the sailing world for YEARS! So it was easy to take certain things for granted. The next video will have some beautiful sailing on Commencement Bay with Mt. Rainier in the background!

Fansastico! I'm glad to hear your planning to go back to the boat! You know I got the same vibe visiting the Pacific Northwest - way too many people they are loving that beautiful land to death. I look forward to seeing you all spearfishing again. Cool videos so far your vidology is certainly getting better keep them coming.

Much appreciated! We are currently on the Olympic Peninsula which is MUCH less populated and stunningly beautiful, WOW. Can't wait to show you the underwater world.

Fun to watch you guys cruising around in my neck of the woods! Looking forward to the next vid! Can totally relate with Tate's comment that he's tired of the forest and wants water! I've lived up here for most of my life and though I love the trees and the fact that the NW will always be 'Home,' being on the water is my happiest place. We are blessed to live on our boat in a beautiful bay (Gig Harbor), but we long for the day we get to take Blue to the warm and tropical south!
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 8 лет назад
This area is incredible! Yeah there's only so much forest a person can take. I find them all beautiful and am really enjoying the time on flat land upon which to walk, because there isn't a lot of walking on the boat! Oh wow, you live in Gig Harbor? We are so close. A couple of days again we went sailing on Commencement Bay out of Tacoma with the backdrop of Mt. Rainier, wow what a sight! Hope you make your tropical dreams come true.

Hi guys, love your videos. Thank you so much for giving us a detailed view of your trips. I retire in three years and want to do exactly what you two are doing. I have placed a lot of your trips information on Google maps so that I can retrace some of the areas you've traveled in. Come on now did you try the pot… Come on, fess up. Ha ha
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 8 лет назад
Thank you! You are going to have a blast! Tate went today to scout out places near the Hoh rainforest on the Olympic peninsula in Washington State. The pot...well you just have to wait and see!

Enjoy your videos while your on the road - you guys have done a nice job documenting your trip. I'm a sailor, but I'm not a huge fan of sailing videos in general. There's only so much you can film in the small confines of a boat underway, so most have the same type of footage, which gets old real fast. In any case, best of luck to you both!

It's been fun for Tate and I to go back and watch our videos in a playlist. We get to relive the trip and also see how we can make our videos better, the first ones were...interesting. We have been brainstorming creative ways to show the cruising life. I agree with you...one of the reasons we didn't film a whole lot while we were out there is because it was all so everyday for us and we thought it would bore people to death.

I like how American's call foot hill's Mountain's
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 7 лет назад
+Dale Buckley We actually joke about this all the time. What is an actual mountain? We even looked up various definitions and the world doesn't agree. Dani and I are from a place where a doorstep is a hill. Seriously, we lived in new Orleans below sea level.

Tired of Trees -- time to hit the Desert ..... do the Four Corners and Native American history in the fall before heading back to the boat - super interesting ! !

Hi there, appreciate the kind comment. The mountains up where you are are beautiful and SO fun to ride motorcycles around. We must have ridden Devil's Whip like 25 times, lol. We almost went to the Tail of the Dragon but it was out of the way and Tate has ridden it many times before.

Great to hear you guys are headed back to the boat and will continue the videos! Are you still considering a pacific crossing in the future?
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 8 лет назад
We are excited and refreshed with our time back in the States. We are definitely still planning for a Pacific Crossing Mar-June 2017. The plan right now is to go back to Panama in Oct/Nov then we have about a month of work in the Yard before we splash the boat and hopefully spend a couple of months in the San Blas islands again. Around Feb 2017 we'll start the process of crossing through the canal and preparing for the Pacific crossing! Exciting times.

I'm with Tate. Rather have my boat back. Motor homing in traffic and crowded campgrounds is nothing like the wide open water and cool places in the Bay and Delta. You guys should enjoy the Redwoods.
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 8 лет назад
The RV trip has been fun and I hate to speak negatively of it because it's very special in it's own way but truly there is no equal to the sailing life. I am SOO excited about the Redwoods. That was one place I wanted to visit the most on this trip.

When your at the flying J trop your trash there.. thats what them trash cans are for that they put out.... lol.. do it all the time... take a bag and open the top and be gone trash...
@Sundownersailsagain
@Sundownersailsagain 8 лет назад
We normally do but often the trash cans are full and also the amount of trash we generate will easily fill one of those cans. It's really hit or miss.

I really liked Tate up to the point where he said he felt more Liberal. I know he was joking, but somehow I still made me disdain him.

Yep just a joke, sometimes our comedy us a little dark and sardonic.

It is really easy to touch a nerve with politics but I worked in that field for ten years and grew sarcastic and skeptical about it. You may disdain me now but lets work things out over a beer on a tropical island.
