Here a quick summery of everything that has been said in this video: 1. Call Sheet - a list where everyone is listed who has to come to set this day, when they wrap, the weather and all the informations needed for personal/set related that day 2. Sides - excerpts of the script you are shooting that day 3. Walkie Check - Checking if the walkie is working correctly 4. Good Check “Name” - responding to the Walkie Check, meaning that everything works 5. Go for “Name” - answering a call which was for me 6. “Your Name” for “Name of the person you want to reach” - making a call for a person you want to reach over the Walkie 7. Hot Brick - a full charged Walkie battery 8. Cold Brick - an empty Walkie battery 9. Copy/Copy that/Copy you - you FULLY understood what somebody told you/ explained/asked you 10. What’s your 20? - someone is asking where you are currently on set. 11. Anyone has a 20 on “name”? - someone asking if anyone has eyes on “name” 12. 10-1 - I am going to pee 13. 10-2 - I am going to take a “shit” 14. Going off Walkie - taking off my walkie/ turning it off 15. Surveillance - ear-peace for the walkie 16. 86 that/it - cancel that/ scratch that command 17. That’s lunch - you braking for lunch 18. Last man - is called when every cast and crew member is through the lunch line (last man 12:30pm - meaning you got to be back in at 1pm) 19. Back in - going back to work (ending lunch break) 20. Points / Hot Points - something you call out if you carry something heavy before going through doorways or around corners to let the person behind it know that somebody is coming through 21. Clear the frame - get out of the shot 22. On the day - Time when you actually shooting the shot 23. Abby Singer / Abby - second to last shot of the day 24. Martini - last shot of the day 25. Hot Set - the set is ready for shooting and must stay exactly as is

A few months ago, I was really disappointed and discouraged as I couldn't able to do short films because of the reasons I thought matter. But then I have watched a video in which Ryan explained: "no excuses anymore, the only thing stopping you is your drive and passion to create". It has changed my perception of filmmaking. Thank you, Film Riot. Thank you, Ryan and Josh. Thanks a million for these videos which enable us to learn more film stuff.

I don’t get the point of these terms. Like, why come up with a code when you could just say you’re gong to the bathroom or just ask for a new battery? Seems more like a way to mess with a new crew member.

I feel many of these that are listed depend on dialect and ways of speaking. These terms sound more like the military than a film set. Also, I'm surprised you guys didn't go over the major ones, like speed, striking, killing (sometimes phrased, "kill the baby" if working with a baby light), pickup, and more.

Not Gary: Gary what's your 20? Gary: 10-1 is way faster than Not Gary: Hey Gary, where are you? Gary: I'm in the bathroom, peeing. When you're waiting for two other people to stop talking while you need something or have another question, it slows things down, especially when there are 80 people. It's also faster to call out things like clear frame because then everyone knows to look and check to make sure they're not blocking the frame, versus you having to figure out which dude in the black shirt is blocking the view from video village so you can ask him to move.

20 Film Terms You Should Know Before Stepping On Set 1. Call Sheet -- The Bible of all Filmmakers. This is the universal sheet which holds the info to: a. Locations b. Call times c. Personal call times d. Lunch e. Weather f. Parking g. Scenes 2. Sides -- The portion of the script your working that day 3. Walkie Check -- Make sure your Walkie's working and on the correct channel while saying a. You say, "Walkie Check." b. A team member will reply, saying, "Good check, " 4. Go for -- When someone wants to tell you something, they'll say into their walkie: a. "Go for " b. You'll reply, "go for " 5. Hot Brick (which means charged battery) -- When your walkie has low battery, you say: a. "I need a hot brick" b. A PA will then bring you a hot brick in exchange for your cold brick (dead battery) 6. Copy You -- this means "I understand what you're saying". Don't say this to something you don't understand. If you don't understand, ask fricken' questions 7. What's your 20/Does anyone have a 20 on --- This means what's your position/does anyone have eyes on 8. I'm 10-1 --imma peein' 9. I'm 10-2 -- Imma poopin' 10. Going off walkie -- done for the day 11. 86 that. -- cancel that. 12. That's lunch -- your breakin' for dat lunch 13. Last man -- last cast/crew to go thru the lunch line 14. Back in -- hoppin back to work 15. Points / Hot points -- crew will yell that out when they are carrying gear with edges or corners 16. Clear the frame -- get outta the way of the camera 17. On the day -- when we actually shoot the shot (e.g., let's make sure sue has a lollipop on the day) 18. Abby Singer / Abby -- second to last shot scheduled for the day 19. Martini -- the last shot of the day 20. Hot set -- everything is set up so don't touch ANYTHING! From Remember, its always better to take your own notes so you can remember more. God bless.

Because people call or write you questions that are answered by the Call Sheet ALL the fucking TIME! Everyone just takes a look when he has to start and finish, thats it :D And you know that! 2 things you didn't cover. When calling another person on walking say your name for person you want to talk to "Kyle for Gary". I've heard far too many confusing radio calls "Kyle, can I get a c-stand over here?" "Sure, who's asking, and what's your 20?" Also, if you need to talk to someone about a long winded topic, or a topic that doesn't need to be on the main channel say "Go to 2(or whatever unused channel there is on your set)".

The director would say, during a "hot set", where a house is about to blow up through special effects, something like this - "OK, the pyrotechnics are armed for the house blow-up in the movie scene. This is now a hot set, so except for the stuntman who is going to run towards the house and it blows up in front of him, as for the rest of you, do not encroach the set. The pyro effects there are very dangerous, and we need to do this explosive shot on one try, get it?"
