20 Forgotten Pop Punk classics you need to know

Long before the All Time Low guys were telling Maria to count them in and Neck Deep were getting through long, lonely Decembers, there was a pop punk renaissance of the early 2000s. These four chord anthems of heartache, teen angst and lip rings are relics most likely found on scratched up CD-Rs underneath the driver's seat of your first car and instantly make you reminisce holding hands under the High School bleachers and romantically sharing ear buds in the back of English class. These are the forgotten songs that made you pogo dance in your room, doodle anarchy symbols in the margins of your notebooks and asked the eternal question "What's the Dillio?"
Maybe these pop punk staples made it into heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist, maybe you'll immediately remember all of the lyrics and start singing along, or hell, maybe you weren't even born when these came out. Regardless, these are 20 songs that lived in the space between Blink-mania and the phenomenon of All Time Low and contain some of the absolute best choruses you'll ever hear in your life.

That's why I said those songs specifically. Those guys are far from Punk, but they've produced POP Punk songs in the past that I bet a lot of fans of the genre would like to hear. Think before responding next time.

Scsigs McFly haven't produced any pop punk songs. Busted have a couple that are slightly on the edge of pop punk. I gave you an example of the most pop punk song that Busted have done. 5 Colours isn't even slightly pop punk at all 😂. Learn to read before responding next time.

DildosForChristmas McFly' 3rd & 4th albums are literally at least HALF Pop Punk. Not only that, but they rerecorded '5 Colours in Her Hair' in that style. Busted also have several songs on their first 2 albums that fall into the genre. Learn to check your shit before doubling down.

Just look up the soundtracks on Burnout 3: Takedown. You'll have a blast if you're looking for pop punk music. :)

Awesome list! I loved Gob, Fenix TX, Useless ID, Mest, Zebrahead, SR-71 and Midtown. You could've added No Use for a Name, Over It, Lucky 7, The Starting Line, Goldfinger, Allister and MxPx as well

MxPx is less forgotten. As is Goldfinger, and the Starting Line. I mean Travis Barker drummed for Goldfinger's last album, plenty of people know them along with "Superman".

Oh HELL No. Ashley Parker Angel, the pretty boy from cheesy Pop Boy Band O-Town, had a so-called Pop Punk song?!?!?! Dia from Meg and Dia ended up competing on the 1st season of The Voice. She was the runner-up for those who don't remember. Hey, hold up!! "The Boys Of Summer" from the Ataris is much more of a classic than "Teenage Riot"!!!!

Album Analysis Not surprising about Ashely, lol Cassadee Pope from Hey Monday was also on The Voice, then became a country singer.

VoidX, I don't blame ya. Emo is a hard genre to really define. I know MCR is part of the Emo Trinity (I personally think it's stupid that people tried to make it the Emo Quartet by adding TØP, since nowhere does it say they're Emo), but that's like mostly Pop Punk bands. Fall Out Boy I would say is kinda like MCR as Take This To Your Grave had some Emo elements in it. But they're primarily a Pop Punk band throughout their career. And Panic! At The Disco? Really? They experimented too much to be called Emo. Most people site those three as the bands who helped them get through rough times in their life and that's fine. I'm glad they do that. But that hardly qualifies them as really Emo. Linkin Park helped a lot of people get through rough times and they aren't Emo. Meanwhile, bands like Jimmy Eat World, Thursday, Dashboard Confessional, Pg.99, etc., whom tons of people agree are Emo, don't get the amount of love as those other three do. Not saying that MCR, FOB, nor P!ATD don't deserve love. All the fans they got throughout their careers are well deserved. But there are other Emo bands that get swept under the rug whenever those three are mentioned (thanks a lot Tumblr).

Album Analysis It’s not too hard to define if you can relate to the lyrics. For example, I have severe depression, and if you listen to Off With Their Heads (specifically, Clear the Air), you can feel the singers internal pain from their tone and lyrics. I wouldn’t consider Fall Out Boy is an “emo” band...that’s just idiotic, lol. You’re referring to poser individuals who don’t even listen to the music and are very immature. Panic is not “emo”, either...never thought it was. Actually, I don’t even like that band because it’s not emo, lol it’s basically what you said. It has a lot of light hearted sounds and it more of a “pop” band, imo. Linkin Park could be considered “emo” for Hybrid Theory. But yea, what these bands are going through, are essentially “phases” of either being experimental, or going through a depressed stage in their life. The bands you’ve listed are, I would say, definitely “emo”, Lol Tumblr, I would never use that app...
