I have a record player and 2 kids. I hate to clean because I feel like I am the only one doing it. So now I make my kids take turns to pick out a record I tell them they are all going to help and once the music stops we’re done. And it’s amazing how much we all can get done in 15min.

I recently got a record player as well and became suddenly aware of how much DUST is everywhere in my apartment. Now I’m obsessed with cleaning daily so no dust gets into the turntable and my precious records 😂

Since moving into our retirement house, which meant downsizing, I don’t have room in our two bathrooms to store the cleaning supplies……I solved this problem by making myself a cleaning cart. I bought a cheap, plastic, rolling cart that I put ALL my cleaning supplies on. That way I can roll my little cart to whatever room I’m cleaning and then store my cart in a coat closet when I’m finished. Cleaning supplies no longer take up valuable real estate in my bathroom cabinets or under my sink in the kitchen. 😎

I try to clean one thing when I go into a room. Something that takes 15 seconds or less. In the bathroom -clean the toilet bowl, wipe the rim and under the seat, or wipe the mirror and sink faucet. In the kitchen wipe the counters with a small microfiber cloth soaked with some alcohol I keep in a lidded jar or wash the window on the back door. The little things add up and keep the rooms presentable.

I thought I was the only one that cleaned the bathroom sinks with bare hands & hand soap! Haha I also use a towel to clean the bathroom before laundry day. I also clean the showers while I'm in it. One thing I never thought to do was 1,2,3 myself! Good one. Also, keeping cleaning supplies in each room. Brilliant 👏 But I do keep clean sheets in each room in a plastic shoe storage container in each closet instead of a central linen closet. Thanks for the "work smarter not harder" tips!

To add to your shower hack. Fill dishwand with soap and vinegar. Keep in the shower use it to clean shower while you are in there.

If you do decide to clean the shower while you’re in it, use a natural cleaner such as vinegar, water, and dish soap mix. Heating up chemicals while you’re physically in the shower with them, can be quite dangerous to ingest.

...and, your skin absorbs whatever you put on it so, don't use harsh chemicals without gloves.

I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I have to say that you could have been my daughter! I’m 68 years old and after I retired I started cleaning homes. I’ve seen all the homes you described. Your advice is spot on and practical. I use most of the tips you suggested. The one thing I do is after showering I take the towel I’ve used and wipe down the entire shower/tub with it. It saves so much time and energy from having to scrub it. And yes, I clean mine while showering. Call it lazy if you will but practical is what I call it. You’re great. Keep up the good work 😊

Yes! Switching my family to body wash instead of bar soap has made a HUGE difference in shower/tub cleaning...it also helps our drains run better because soap scum isn't building up in them. I also clean the sink(s) while I'm washing my hands, I've been doing it for a few years. I dry dust the bathrooms a few times a week (with hand towels as I switch out dirty to clean ones), too which makes it easier to wet clean surfaces. I have a "roomba" style vacuum that we run once or twice a day and I have a cordless stick vacuum to get the areas the robot misses. Shoes off at the door is also a habit we use, but it's mostly because our cats get under our feet and we're less likely to step on them hard if we can feel them under "naked" feet. But not dragging outside dirt inside is a definite bonus!

I would love to be on board with this, because soap scum is not pretty, but neither is the plastic packaging waste that comes with liquid soap. I have to vote paper-wrapped or wrapper-free bar soap.

Ahhh so true! I have so many things in my life that I am trying to figure out the trade offs. I even switched from dishwasher pods to liquid detergent (because of the microplastics) but then there's the large plastic bottle! @@kayo5291

I have specific laundry days too, it keeps the process going, not too much at once. I hang most of our clothes on the spare bathroom shower rack, no wrinkles, dries fast and ready to just hang up. I will load clothes the night before, and when i get up and start the wash. While I’m waking up and drinking coffee a daily task has started. We also take our shoes off, people thought us odd, but it does keep the house clean. Especially the carpet on the stairs, we’re behind other countries where most of the people take off their shoes.

Love these! A great one I do now is, if I just wiped down the counters, I use the same wet wash cloth to spot mop anything on the kitchen (or other nearby) floor. I've started calling these things "light cleaning", as it's not such a big deal in my mind, and I don't put things off until I can "perfectly" deep clean it later. Better for me is a little done regularly. I can still deep clean, but when I do it will be less work for all the light cleaning I did first. I'm looking forward to trying several of these ideas you shared! Thanks, Taryn!

I have exfoliating cotton facial rounds that I use to wash my face in the before bed and first thing. I switch between the master bath and hall bath, and when I'm done with my face I flip the round over and use the other side to wipe down the faucet, counter and sink.

😅Use dishwasher cleaner to soak oven racks, vases and pitchers with films, odors. I use severall dishwasher pods in hot water in the tub, add oven racks and baking sheets, leave overnight...wipe, rinse, done.

These are very Smart tips. I myself use many of them im my home. ..But..probably about 15 years ago i got rid of my microvawe. I decided i want a healthy family and better,helthier food. First IT was difficult, because IT was a habbit .Many people these days dont take in consideration that even if u preper very healthy food and stick IT under the waves..u kill actually all nutritions, vitamins and good stuff that's inside. Washer: soap to the normal line then top with white vinegar to the max line, then a good splash in the softener spot. Clothes are fresh and it keep the washer cleaner. Every load. The clothes are so freakin soft once the buildup eventually gets stripped from the fabrics. The vinegar will accomplish this over time or you can strip them in the tub with hot water and vinegar. Highly recommend: strip your towels, you'll see.

Thanks for ideas to make cleaning quicker. Please don't use used bath towels to wipe surfaces down though, they harbor bacteria from skin cells and make up.

The 123 habit is great if you don't want to get up and get going!😂 I agree soap leaves a scum but you should use soap on occasion, too, to feel cleaner.

So many great tips!I’m glad you said no to drain cleaners. I haven’t used them but was thinking of trying them. I sometimes clean the shower while I’m in it too, but what I always do at the end of my shower is use cold water only and rinse everything down, I haven’t seen any mold since. Another tip to go with your oven rack cleaning is put them in a heavy plastic bag like for yard waste, and spray with a foamy cleaner, leave several hours.

Shoes off at the door has never worked for us because the guys wear lace up boots for work and are always in and out (plus we have big dogs and a doggy door, so moot point for our home, lol.) BUT, if you have kids that are always running in and out, that's a great rule to minimize that. If they have take their shoes off and put them back on each time, they will likely just opt to stay in or out. I need to find one of those microwave dish covers! I use sanitizing wipes for the toilet, but spritz the sink and counters with a vinegar mix and wipe it down with the used hand towel each day. Great tips, thanks!

Put a bench or chair where they can sit and remove shoes. Have indoor and outdoor shoes. I buy a pair of sneakers one size too large so they slip on for walking dog. They are extremely cheap and very comfortable.

I use Tide Powder w/Dawn to clean my oven racks. My kitchen sink is big enough to hold them so I just fill it up with HOT water, Tide powder, and a little dawn and soak them until the water is cool enough to remove the drain. Works like a charm. I break apart my cardboard boxes and add those to the bottom of my trash can. Sometimes I'll add a few drops of essential oil. When they need to be changed, I just throw them in my compost pile. Works great. I love my cordless vacuum. I vacuum EVERY day and it's so much easier with a cordless vacuum. Another great tip that I've gotten in the habit of doing is never leaving a room empty-handed.

I used to do my laundry everyday and it became a bit overwhelming as it was hard getting clothes dry so now I stick to two days a week, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. I find I'm keeping on top of my laundry routine a lot better. Thank you for your great cleaning tips

Good tips! An addendum to cleaning the shower while you're in it: avoid slippery cleaners due to the risk of falling. Breaking a bone will not speed up your cleaning. Microfiber and a squeegee work great.

I use a squeegee then a microfiber cloth to wipe down my shower that has white subway tile. I do a heavy duty clean every couple of weeks but wiping it down after every shower prevents mineral build up and I can use any kind of soap

I did almost all of it. But I got to the point I was so tired 😩 of cleaning instead of relaxing under the shower or cleaning instead of being present whilr talking to someone. Now I clean every evening for 15 minutes and 1-2 hours every weekend. The key is: 1. a good microfiber cloth, 2. a cleaning robot, 3. everything has "a home" and everyone puts things back or throws it if its garbage 4. get rid of things that are not being used any more 😊

Keep a nail brush by sink and use it to clean sink. Easily removes soap scum,shines faucet. Use small straw cleaning brush to clean hair from drain

We have the same vacuum obsession ha. I keep my corded shark vacuum upstairs and pull it out once a week for a full very good vacuum day. Otherwise I use my cordless on a daily basis…so much easier.

So many great tips here 🌸 Allow me to add one: If you have young children, BEGIN NOW. Begin including them in various cleaning and tidying routines, even if you’re only giving them a baby wipe to clean with. Do not wait til those toddlers go down for a nap and then do the cleaning. Make cleaning a part of your time with them. I say, “ begin now” because tomorrow will be TOO LATE! There is a window of opportunity in which toddlers want to help their parents. If you make the mistake I did, and do not take advantage of that, you will have kids who expect you to do EVERYTHING for the rest of your life. You become nothing but a domestic servant/teller machine to them. Teach them now that keeping the house presentable is everyone’s responsibility. I hope I’ve helped someone with this 🍀

For your stove the BEST thing to use is Oven cleaner spray EASYOFF it’s magical. Suggest to warm oven to like 100• then turn off and spray EASYOFF and let it sit half hour and the wire off .. rinse and done!!!!!

I do not want to use a " bathroom towel " thats been u s e d ...to wipe down my bathroom.... Ewwww. No. I keep certain ckeaning towels, and a roll of paper towels in the bathroom, as well as the cleaning supplies. I've used my dishwasher for so many things, not just the dishes... even my kids.. using the dishwasher for certain toys when they were small children. ( plastics, etc). Of course, 80 to 90 % of dirt comes in from outdoors...but there are people that HAVE to wear shoes indoors , for foot support. Health issues. Etc. So I think thst is a Personal thing. ..I dont ask people to take off thier shoes. If they choose to,fine. But its not " required ".

I wear slippers indoors all day, they have a really supportive sole , but they are only worn in the house and I put them on when I come home :)

Hab schon mal meine Duschkabine und die Fliesen vor dem Duschen eingesprüht. Aber es hat mir nicht gefallen,die Dämpfe vom Putzmittel sind nicht gesund. Lieber das Putzen vom Duschen trennen!

The Splatter Protector is a Godsend. It prevents all kinds of mess going around the Microwave. Also there's Dawn Liquid and Cleaning Vinegar that does alot for taps and faucets.

I really can't use a towel I use on my body to clean a bathroom , that's a no no , I keep a cleaning cloth in the bathroom for that purpose , it's the same for wiping down counters in the kitchen . Vinegar in the laundry is also great for pet fur , it removes the static and also disinfects laundry .

Yes! I love using vinegar in the laundry. I also like to use it on new clothes because I heard it helps get rid of some of the chemicals left over from the manufacturing process!

@@elizabethwilson4589 I generally put a cup of vinegar with my detergent in the wash , there is no smell . If you have a scent sensitivity , you can use vinegar as a pre-rinse , then do a complete laundry cycle with detergent

Higher tolerance of grossness. It doesn’t hit their trigger point to do something about it.i lived with male roommates who didn’t know that bathrooms are not self cleaning,lol. Thankfully I had my own bathroom!

I use a pillowcase to clean the blades of our ceiling fans. Slip it on each blade and pull to wipe off the dust and all the debris stay inside the pillowcase. Also, I wear 2 old socks like gloves and dust the house that way. Spin the socks around to use the upper top when the bottom parts are done.

Shoes off when entering a house is a custom in Canada, unless the host invites you to continue wearing them inside. I always forget it’s not a thing in other countries.
