Mickey Mantle actually holds the record for the longest home run ever hit. 575ft it was listed as 640ft in the Guinness world record but later changed to 575ft
@BurntSkidaddle
@BurntSkidaddle 9 лет назад
Well idk if thats even humanly possible lol. Unless theres like a 50 mph wind blowing out. Cause theres no way Mickey Mantle was stronger than Stanton.
@danielremm4278
@danielremm4278 9 лет назад
It's not all about strength, it's about technique to. Using your hips more, getting the barrel on the ball all the time, using the power from your legs, timing the ball perfectly and not getting too on top of the ball or underneath the ball. Look at Jose Bautista for the blue jays. that guys hit some mammoth shots and he doesn't even weigh 200lbs. 25 to 40 hrs every year consistantly

1) Hardly any of the calls were nearly as good as they should have been. (The Ortiz call is so bland!) The only great one was "Waiter, there's a fly ball in my soup!" (Springer's - 1:20) 2) Stanton is the MAN!

And some of them are outright terrible. Who the HELL is that joker at 3:45 calling Avisail Garcia's shot? I'd have to mute every damn game if that was my team's play-by-play guy.

@Whit_Siever

Michael Bronsky Agreed that that's really the Boston booth. I was gonna say that at this point, a Papi HR is so common at this point the Fenway natives don't even notice at this point, they're so used to it occurring they've forgotten it's value.

Stanton's power is unreal. Look at the one at 3:58... it's not even a big swing. He just gets SO MUCH going through his hips and core. Excited to watch him for years to come.

what I've yet to understand is that with the technology we have today, why don't we ever do more research on homers back in the day that are so called long shots 500 plus foot bombs. I know there supposedly some done but I would like a video evidence and explanation w reliable sources.. also all these homers need to be actual distance traveled and also projected distance traveled..

How does true distance work? I just want to know because some of ESPN's "sciencey calculations" have been very, very upsetting. For example, this year Frazier's 485 foot home run got adjusted to 440 what the heck? Might not have gone 485, but certainly not 440, did you see where that ball landed IN THE UPPER DECK CENTER FIELD? Same with Holliday's 467 foot home run this year. And yet, ESPN somehow adjusted Adam Dunn's shot in 2008 to freakin' 504 feet, that ball didn't even travel as far as Juan Francisco's 2011 shot out of the stadium that somehow got adjusted to 482 feet! ESPN, your calculations are as bogus as your sports writing! Get a life!
@unempoleon
@unempoleon 9 лет назад
They measure trajectory, wind speed, and off bat speed to measure where the ball would have landed had it not hit anything. Which is, had the ball returned safely to ground level.

@AlemBeatboxFan123
@AlemBeatboxFan123 9 лет назад
This is based off of HitTracker's website. HitTracker calculated Jones and Cruz's homers at less than 462 feet, which is the shortest distance homer on this video. Also, Stanton had 7 HR of 450+ feet or more, with 5 of 460+ feet, that's why he's on this list so frequently.
@MightyMattTM
@MightyMattTM 9 лет назад
Look man I'm an Orioles fan too, But Stanton is a beast, because he swings so hard and really gets into them. I wish Chris Davis would actually try hitting the ball hard. When he homers, it look like he's putting in minimal effort and they go soaring. I think in 2013 he hit a ball almost 470 feet in San Fran, but he barely tried. If he really reared up, took his hardest swing and laid into one, I bet he could go +500 feet easily.

@mattgarvey737
@mattgarvey737 9 лет назад
Your distances are way off on these. Springer's 465 foot shot lands about eight feet behind the center field fence and it's 435 to straightaway center. And I saw Matt Holliday absolutely peg the centerfield scoreboard in Milwaukee about twenty feet higher than Ozuna's shot and they said it was 445. He hit it so hard you could hear it on the broadcast and the whole park shut up.
@ThePaperSun
@ThePaperSun 9 лет назад
These aren't "his" distances. They're directly off of the hit tracker website.
@mattgarvey737
@mattgarvey737 9 лет назад
I mean, they're not right though. Look at the Springer homer and tell me that's not a 440 foot shot at most. I don't really trust any of the distances given for homers these days. Last year at the home run derby, Giancarlo Stanton almost hit a ball completely out of the park and ESPN said it was something like 410 feet. Get out of here, the ball landed 8 rows from the top of the stadium!
@ThePaperSun
@ThePaperSun 9 лет назад
Matt Garvey They only use projected distances. The Stanton homer you're talking about was actually 510 feet. I don't know much about the accuracy of it, but it's all relative anyway.
@mattgarvey737
@mattgarvey737 9 лет назад
Projected distances whatever. How far did the ball actually travel is the question. Like the Holliday homer. If it didn't hit the scoreboard it would have gone 500 feet. But it didn't. And with the Stanton homer in the derby, how does it actually travel about 500 feet but the projected distance is far less? Makes no sense.
@jimbo1326
@jimbo1326 9 лет назад
How can George Springer's HR be 465 ft when it wasn't quite dead center, nad dead center is is only 436? It was 440 at best. Which is still amazing, but it's not 465.
