flyhound97 apparently you’ve never been to a cubs game because if we’re down in the bottom of the 9th we will cheer loud even for a walk, let alone a hit or a homer
Not drowning out the commentary/crowd noise with horrible music is the best decision ever made in the history of sports montage videos. Thank you, MLBHighlights2012.
Great call, but I prefer the TV quote of ‘Winners and still world champions,’ because it is VERY hard to repeat as champs on baseball - no team has done so since 2000.
He is and will always be my favorite player. I had season tickets the year that he got hit on the last game of the season and the twins were in last place that year, but it was still great having season tickets because I went specifically to see Kirby Pucket play!! And he was true to the twins and could have went to Chicago for more money but didn't. Kirby will always be Minnesota baseball. And what a clutch player just like that game six home run in this list and so many great catches over the years made at the wall. And the combination with Kent Herbek made those 20 years something special or almost 20 years whatever it was...
Before you comment asking why something was omitted, make sure you know the definition of the following terms: "walk-off," "home run," and "postseason."
And now we understand why police officers now ring the stadium near the ends of these crucial games. Chambliss was basically in fear of his safety starting at second base, and had literally to fight through a mob to touch home plate. Humans in large groups are as unpredictable as any other animal.
Gibson's HR will always be my favorite. Watching him hobble around the bases with that crazy fist pumping always make me tear up a little. What a hit that was!
Gman6755 weak overrated hr shouldn't be on list Carter and Mazerokski 10 times better won the ws not only the game imagine if Gibson he won the ws then we would be talking but game 1 weak remember Big Mac hit a gw hr in game 2 dame ws barely any credit bs
It was totally a miraculous moment when he walked up to the plate or should I say hobbled up to the plate, knowing that he couldn't run for a single if he needed to, they brought him into hit a home run and he did it. That's as good as babe Ruth's called shot in my book it was the most legendary home run that I ever witnessed
Joe Carter's HR in 1993 doesn't get the respect it truly deserves. Only twice has it happened in World Series history to end a series with a walk off HR. If it was Jeter it would be considered the best HR of all time. No disrespect to Jeets but that's just the way it is.
I absolutely agree with this. It was the most meaningful and impactful home run ever hit. As the commenter above says, the only come from behind WS ending home run ever. That's insane there are like what 118 world series played as of 2020?
I agree 100% that made it back to back w.s champ that kinda rare then lose shot for 3 when let's have strike when both Canada team are best and ozzie tiny smith nlcs of all the players to hit it out kurt G overrated game one as well and sick of Jeter overatedness
I am a Yankees fan, and I don't like the Jays...but man ...that Carter HR gives me the chills! I get excited just watching it!! It literally is every kids baseball fantasy come true!! I give total respect to Joe Carter for hitting that and for celebrating like he did!!!
@@grafeebabee yeah with all the drama about celebration now no one mentions his celebration for being bad for baseball. Probably cause if the weight of it and he legit has the biggest smile and jumps so high. Wish to see more of it
Great compilation. This is how a sports compilation video should be made - the game and commentary are far superior to any shitty techno/rap garbage that could be dubbed over.
the crowd erupting, the feel of the ball hitting the sweet part of the bat, the jog around the bases and your team waiting for you at home plate. at any level of baseball its an amazing feeling i wish everyone could have
He threw a few punches, kicked a few people in the bread basket, gave a few stone cold steve austin stunners, stabbed a couple people and then made it to home!!
When the field got overrun by the mob, Chamblis ran to the Yankee dug out, as you can see. Later Chamblis took off his jersey and put on a jacket to blend in with the crowd with the intention of touching home plate. He was escorted by two cops and maybe an umpire. When he got out there the plate was already dug up and taken by fans. So he touched his foot where the plate was. Interesting story..I don't think it mattered at that point lol.
He didn't..they had to bring him out later after everything had calmed down to officially touch home plate.. he ran straight into the dugout and clubhouse after the HR because the fans were mobbing him..
Jack is the only reason Joe has a job. And Joe needs to come up with something else to say besides "Back at the wall..." every time someone hits a home run.
The Giants win the pennant call is forever my favorite! A Mets fan born in 85 and every time I hear that call I feel as if I was alive when it happened.
Megladon65 Yes, I understand the sudden death aspect, and that home teams usually only bat 8 times when they win. But good teams should be able to win on the road too.
Oh that Joe Carter homerun-I was watching that night and I was out of my chair jumping around by myself it was so exciting. Joe won us our second World Series that night. The year before that, Joe happened to be playing first base that night and made the final out that won us our first World Series. The fans of Toronto always love Joe Carter.
Great video, GREAT! I have to admit as a Giants fan, one of the most emotional moments in sports history, was watching Kirk Gibson limp up there at 3 balls and 2 strikes, and win it for the Dodgers against the mighty Eck. Cant help but to get teary eyed when you see him pump his arm. Other emotional moments MJ comes back, the Beard strikes out Nelson Cruz in 2010, and Romo strikes out Miggy in 2012. Never have I released a louder scream of joy in my life, than those two moments. Hope everyone gets to experience that in some way.
And perhaps just a little bit after you wrote this, Giants fans got another magical year in 2014, not to mention Travis Ishikawa's amazing Bobby Thomson moment to send the Giants to the World Series. I also think of KB's double pump a lot - it's a great moment even if it's a stinkin' Dodger ;)
As a Sox fan, seeing Aaron Boone's home run in the 12th inning of Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS was just horrible to watch again. But seeing Ortiz's two makes up for it :)
As fan of A's I hate seeing Detroit's Maglio Ordonez 3 run shot 4 game sweep 06 cause past postseason that lead up to this ALCS cause see 2001 blew 2-0 NYY series L 2002 blew 2-0 NYY series L 2003 blew 2-1 Min series L 2004 blew 2-0 boston series L Finally 2006 beat first round over twin and get hit over head by tigers 4 game sweep 06 ALCS also they did not get call on hr interference call clearly bad call everyone saw reaching over but umps Just a Miserable series as bad as 81 ALCS NYY series sweep I still liked M.O great player underrated career
How did this not close with the Gibson walk-off homer in 1988?!? The dude was hitting with TWO bad legs!! Greatest walk-off ever!! . . . and it is stuck in the middle of this video! . . . Other than that . . . well done!
I don't think it was created in order from best to worst or worst to best. It's just randomly thrown together. Besides, it's not like any baseball fan over 10 years old hasn't seen it 20 times or more.
+Ryan Loughlin not all but a lot. Common sense tells you who did! Griffey Jr, nah. Bonds, McGwire, Jose?? Please, you have to be a moron not to have noticed!!!
Oh man the legend of Jim Leyritz... send that dude away to the Caribbean for the whole summer and bring him back in October and he'll hit you a game winning home run each game!!
Man that Kent walk off homer gave me chills! I was a senior in HS, and I went insane when Kent hit that bomb! Even though the Cards got the best of us, it's still a great memory.
+Zac Ripple EXACTLY....Back when you actually had to drive the ball in a real sized park, MAZ's shot was over 420 feet and that was to leftcenter field, a mammoth shot, on a monumental series, that epitomized what real baseball is like....
My only defense of maz's homerun has to be is, as a kid in the backyard wiffle ball bat, before you tossed the ball up to yourself to hit, did you whisper to yourself, "world series, bottom of the ninth, game six" OR did you say, "world series, bottom of the ninth, Game seven"?? I rest my case. It's the best homerun ever
Brother the first three clips...Wow First...Carters walk off I remember seeing that and as a little kid thinking man this is like a movie ending for him just so awesome to see it and be able to say I remember exactly where I was at when I saw that ...Then Kirby man I grew up a Braves fan and remember thinking we’re going to win this series but I liked Kirby so much I couldn’t help but to just smile be happy for him and tip my hat Then my Rangers My God this almost brings tears to me every time I hear Buck say we will see you tomorrow night a heartbreaker of many heartbreaks but probably the one that hurts the most for so many reasons...Nice video put together Thank You 🙏🏼😊
cubeydoo i think he as referring to joe's verbatim copy of his dad's great call that they played back-to-back on the video ("we'll see you tomorrow night").jack called kirby puckett's game winner and joe called john freise's. same exact words but jack's was awesome and joe's was awful. that kid must've been adopted.
TheJMSESQ irishwhip03 Joe's call was prompted by Tim McCarver referencing his dad's call, not sixty seconds before Freese hit his home run, making it all the more appropriate, as well as respectful to Jack. I'm tired of the Joe bashing.
@John D Didn't know you had the magical ability to stop hundreds of fans running onto the field at once. Did you work at Shea Stadium during The Beatles concert too?
Or Lenny Dykstra's walk off in Game 3 of the 1986 NLCS. Or Robin Ventura's "Grand Slam Single." If you're going to make a video of walk offs those two need to be there as well.
I remember hating the Yankees getting to go to yet another World Series but being so happy for Aaron Boone. I had the chance to meet him many times in Cincinnati and he is the ultimate good guy and so fan friendly.
Two bad legs and a stomach virus. Presumed unable to play at all, he watched from the clubhouse as the game went into the 9th, his team down, he phoned Tommy Lasorda and demanded to pinch hit. It was the only plate appearance he had the entire series because of his injuries. It lit the fire that led to the Dodgers taking it all. Truly a heroic moment in sports. I agree with you. Best post-season homer in history.
Gibson's homer is certainly in the top 3, given his physical condition, the pitcher, the situation, etc. But it's hard to beat Bobby Thomson's Shot Heard Round the World in '51, and while that one's slightly before my time, my favorite was Maz in the 1960 Series. The first Game 7 walk off winner. Heard it on the bus coming home from school on my little transistor, and cherish the memory.
Robin Ventura walk off Grand Slam vs the Braves in the 1999 NLCS?? He never touched home plate and it was ruled a single but he did hit a HR.. Len Dykstra off Dave Smith Game 3 1986 NLCS??
It's a knuckleball, a pitch that doesn't rotate/spin. As a result, it's hard to predict where it's going to go. Aaron Boone was VERY fortunate that this particular pitch landed right where he wanted it to be.
InterventionAddict Wakefield himself will tell you that, when a knuckleball doesn't work, the result is usually a disaster. Case and point: this one =)
It seems like these Walk off shots in the post season always create such pandemonium and such a surreal atmosphere just because of the sheer magnitude of these games. Definitely something I would love too have the chance too experience one day ✊
More disrespect for my Mets. We only have two postseason walk-offs in our history - by Todd Pratt and Robin Ventura - and they couldn't put even one of them on this video? Wow.
Time to add Edwin Encarnacion in there! His bottom-11, 3 run shot is the first winner-take-all walk-off home run since Aaron Boone in Yankee Stadium in 2003! The WIld Card game is technically the postseason...
Without question the best ............. Russ Hodge's call of Bobby Thompson's dagger vs. the Bums in 51' Never gets old and always brings a tear to my eyes.
