I like running a lint roller over the carpet or even my desk quickly 🤓 Less daunting and physically demanding than vacuuming but makes things look nice and crisp again! ☺️

That’s a great idea! That’s perfect for yarn fuzz! 💯

Another series of great tips. WIPS and recently purchased yarn can get out of hand in a hurry in my yarn room. I finally organized my patterns…3 ring binders divided by category and then I had to make files for the overflow. So much easier to find than just stuffed in a drawer. Thank you, Shannon!

Thanks! And great job on the patterns, that’s awesome you got them organized. I shove stuff in drawers too, but then forget it exists so that’s a great solution! 😃

Thank you for this video Shannon, as someone who is happily (most of the time) neurodivergent, these tips are a really helpful way to feel satisfied that SOME progress is being made. I love organization, but sometimes things in my yarn room get a little out of hand. I strive for a peaceful, clean, and tidy space, without too much clutter, just don’t look at my yarn nest near and on the sofa when I’m working on a project! 😄💕

You’re welcome! You are definitely not alone. I have to make small wins so I don’t get overwhelmed with big projects. It’s funny you used the term nest, I also make a nest. My crochet nest, my editing nest, etc. I thought it was cute someone else thought the same thing as me!

Love all these task ideas! I find that if I keep putting stuff off then I need to write it in my day planner - I always say if it’s not written on there then it doesn’t exist 😂 or I’ll put in my phone calendar on a random day, it pops up and then I just go do it… go figure.
@ShannonTalksYarn

💯 yes! I can’t remember to do things that aren’t written down either! That phone calendar idea is great too!

Wonderful suggestions! I'm definitely guilty of buying yarn or fabric and leaving it laying around. 😂 In my case I think it's a bit more complicated organizing my yarn since I share rooms with a sibling, so my space/storage is very limited. 😢
@ShannonTalksYarn
@ShannonTalksYarn 2 месяца назад
That does make it more difficult! Sharing a space can be tricky. And even more so, if they have totally different hobbies. Hopefully you’ve found some solutions to make it work!

@@ShannonTalksYarn Hey Shannon! 🤣 Yes... Thank you, it's actually hasn't been a bad one, so loving it this time compared to the mad heat we got in summer... Crocheting away at the fireplace, what could be better! Also started a little RU-vid channel a few weeks ago but still trying to find the courage to do a long format video😳🤣 I like your authentic natural approach, think I'm just gonna dive in...I like you also live in a plot or small holding in Pretoria.. So the sticks I guess, have a grown Son... So it's a good time to start something new I think ☺️ thanks for your sweet comment and I hope you're enjoying your side of the world too 😘

This is a great list :) I have implemented a rule with sewing projects in my room that I have to clean up the scraps, threads, notions I pulled out, get the pattern put away, etc before I can start a new project. I definitely still break this rule if im on a time crunch to make several things, but overall this at least gets my main areas usable and I know where all my tools and scissors and whatnot are so I dont have to hunt for them. With crochet and knitting ... its harder lol. I do tend to learn everything out of my project bag once the project is done and put the bag away as well as put the hook back in my case and whatnot, but my stack of printed out patterns gets a little crazy and now I dont know where to keep them lol. I just don't like to throw them away even if I already made them.

Hi Meg! There was a comment on this video, I thought you’d be perfect to answer, it was about keeping all the sewing/quilting stuff organized. I thought you’d probably have better advice than I could offer!

one activity that takes less than a minute is every time you get up to go get water or take a break, grab one thing that isnt where it belongs and put it away or return it to its home on the way to doing the initial task. I like this task because since im getting up anyway i might as well declutter one thing and eventually theres no more clutter

I'm also a sewist and the rubbish from the sewing projects is the biggest hassle I face. I've tried many options for 'bins' and where it will work for my sewing process but the mess ends up infesting my yarn and crochet projects. Its carpeted floor. Any ideas anyone?
