HELLOOO FRIENDS! Hope you love the video - my hair is SO BOUNCY today :) the next video is a vlog all about how I refresh and style my curls so watch out for that! Let me know what you're going to try in 2020 xx love to you all xx
As a first-time mother, this year my New Year's resolution was to talk kindly about my body. My daughter is an infant now, but I never want her to speak about her body the way I speak about mine. I want her to be able to love her body for all the things that can do for her, and not reduce it's worth to its size.
I prefer doing things on my own, whether it's having a meal at a cafe, going to the cinema or walking around charity shops. I find it more pleasurable this way.
I am loving my greys! I am growing some greys now and the hairdresser insisted I dyed them! She said :it’s a shame because they age you! She made me feel so bad ...but in a way that reassured me in my convictions, apart from not going back to that hairdresser...ageing and getting greys it’s part of life and if no one dyed them ( specially women) people would think they are normal and part of our natural progress...I am not getting older I am getting wiser! Grey power!
I’m with you on this one sistah!! I have salt and pepper hair that, with time, is becoming more salt than pepper. I quit dying it over a year ago... I am not really lovin’ my greys just yet, but I am determined to accept them as part of who I am. All those strong hair dye chemicals so close to the biggest pores on our body simply cannot be good for us, nor can it be good for the environment when it is rinsed off and washed down the drain. Gray Power!
And also men don't normally dye them why should we? They don't shave legs, armpits, bikini line, they can grow their moustache and they are beautiful! They greyer the sexier for men...this world is wrong and we need to start showing the world we can be as sexy and interesting as them whith grays and without!! George Clooney, Richard Gere can do it so do we!! Grey Power sisters!!
Great video 👍 I appreciate you and your authenticity. I am trying to smile and say some loving to myself when I look in the mirror. I have a bad habit of frowning and scrutinizing myself when I look in the mirror. I do practice gratitude and I try to keep my complaining to a minimum. I lovey diversified feed 😃 I do learn so much, and the positivity is contagious. I turned 60 on January 22 this year. I have a 5 miles most days goal 😃 I gave up my car a year ago for my health and financial health. Diabetes is nipping at my heals. I want to have zero prescriptions. I want to eat WFPB and walk. I dislike the gym. I am practicing letting my loved ones know how much they matter to me out loud 💕 And last but not least I love my healthy relationship with sleep 💤💤
Going to the cinema on my own is one of my favorite activities tbh! I love movies, especially the theater experience, so I probably go the movies alone twice a month. I really value that time to just sit in a dark room, not think about my phone or priorities or even any one else around me, and just enjoy the story unfolding before me. I can really get on a soap box about how great going to the cinema alone is lol. But anyway, great video! I like how manageable all of these ideas seemed
This video is so amazing. I was feeling like I was spiralling a little bit because I've already failed on all my resolutions and feel a little out of control. It's easy to let negative thoughts take over when you are ordering food, consuming etc and doing things out of line with your values. This video helped slow my mind down and I feel better to get back on track. Thank you!
I have been walking an hour a day for the last 8 years or so. I try to integrate this into my daily life and do almost everything by foot (going to and from work and going for errands, meetings with friends and family, going to the gym etc). It's a really nice way to stay fit and also a flow habit for me
If you want a healthy dessert, I got one! A hand full of mangos, a hand full or less of strawberries, a third of a lemon squeezed. You can use frozen or fresh fruits, but then use ice instead of water and the other way around. Just put enough water for the fruits to mix, but mix till it’s a thick sorbet texture. Also I LOVE Zumba and yoga classes, it actually makes me want to workout rather than dread the treadmill.
This week has been particularly difficult for me with my anxiety at its peak. And this video has really helped me, I'm gonna start doing a few things from this list tomorrow onwards. It's like I know what I have to do to calm down and feel better, but I always seem to be needing a little push, and today it was your video, so THANK YOU for making a positive impact!! 💞💞
I’ve been doing yoga daily since covid started. There are so many possible videos to practice with on RU-vid. I have never had any trouble eating alone, but not comfortable with movies alone.
Hands up about the cinema! It is dark and during the movie experience you cannot communicate anyways. So defo single cinema visits are the best date-with-oneself ideas. And on a discount day, it is possible to squeeze in even 2 screenings :)
Positive self talk and gratefulness are probably the biggest parts I need to work on. Been really bad at putting myself down lately and just being quickly frustrated and annoyed. It's so funny how bad you can make yourself feel but you would never talk to a friend like that. Really need to turn up the self love there :)
I walk everyday in my city, no matter the weather (because I can't afford public transportation) and it makes me go outside and it helps a lot physically and mentally. Also, I get the opportunity to listen to my favourite podcasts and I love that 😍
I am a strong leader in my school and my community. I teach a high school Leadership Course and also a Peer Tutoring Course. I educate others about “personal growth”, “self-confidence/self-awareness”, and “reaching one’s full potential”... but when I go home and look in the mirror I see a person who needs to practice what they preach more consistently. This video was the message (with great specifics) that I REALLY needed to hear. Thank-you Immy... impeccable timing on this one. PS - may I suggest that to your list of gratitudes and affirmations that you add your unique ability to inspire others. You’ve totally got it gurl!!
@@SustainablyVegan I cannot describe how amazing this comment makes me feel!! Fifty teenagers are about to pass through my classroom this afternoon... lucky them... they are gonna see me at my best! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness same! I teach a leadership course at my University and sometimes I don't give myself the same nurturing or encouragement that I give my students. Trying to get better at that and push myself 🙈
@@sydneyrigsby462 Well, we certainly are two peas in a pod! It’s so strange how one can be full of positivity, encouragement, and support for others, yet we can be so hard on ourselves. Thanks Sydney for contributing this comment, nice to hear your perspective. So... moving forward... let’s start our day off tomorrow with compliments and kindness for ourselves. We’ll be two peas in the “self-love pod”, are you in? Also, this pod is welcoming to all others who want a fresh start for themselves tomorrow.
Another great video and comprehensive list! Enjoying the simple things, self reflection, less shopping, mental and physical fitness, gratitude and relationships. By the way, you really do have beautiful, amazing hair;) Have a great day!
I love what you said about loving your hair. My hair is almost opposite yours (blonde, pin straight, past my butt) and everyone always tells me how much they love it but for a long time now, I've wished it was curly! I love curls and bounce and volume in hair and because mine is so long it has absolutely none. So I've been trying to remind myself that I also have beautiful hair, and I've started loving it like everyone else does too!
These are such positive advices/changes one could do. I got to know your channel cuz of the vegan milk n ended up watching lots of useful videos you've got (all of them i've been founding useful actually). Cheers from Argentina.
I started walking a little bit more and reading a lot because I saw you started the book challenge and I thought 'hey! This is cool.'. But now I read more than one a week because I found some really nice books. ❤️😂📚
It saddens me that so many women hate their bodies😥 Enough! Time for positive affirmations all around. Just start to say it until you feel it. Over write the bad programming xxx love your vids xxx
I went to the cinema by myself for the first time a couple of years ago, and now I love it! I get to eat a large portion of nachos all by myself, I get both armrests to myself, and I can ugly cry without being judged - it's great!!
This is for other people, but I used to work as a barista yeaaaars ago and let me tell you, we don't care if you are alone and most people don't either! This was before it was more socially acceptable to be alone in cafe's but even then it's not a big deal. We just check up and see if you need anything else if it's been a while. It's basically a silent agreement in solidarity that you're probably there to work/study/self care with some drinks and a meal so it's no big deal to us or the people around you.
I love going out to eat and go to the cinema by myself. I love your videos! I have a recommendation. I use subtitles when I watch something and sometimes you have things on the screen where those subtitles are. Most youtubers I find do. I've not seen other people talk about those who need subtitles. I would really appreciate it if you could just move the typed words up a little. Thank you so much for all your hard work into these videos. They are very inspiring to me.
Meal prepping your veg might help you when you CBA.I know I have real trouble motivating myself to cook when it's just for me but it's very important and I am trying to grow personally. I dont call it resolutions or hold myself accountable in a negative manner but intentions - not so much I will as i will try - so not setting yourself up to fail. PS your hair is lovely (saw you at Maddy's event) Good luck with the doing things alone - you have to do this especially if you are like me and normally alone. I have done some scary things like travelling transatlantically alone but I am glad I had the experience. Brilliant goals and I help they truly enrich your life xx
This was a good one Immy, I know you mentioned weekly goals, however also looking back on what you accomplished and or learnt can be positive too. Best wishes x
I started going alone to the cinema after Lady in the water (yeah I'm old), my bff kept making kind of dirty comments throughout the movie and I was like "this is the last time I watch a non action movie with this guy"... With concerts I normally go alone cause my friends and I have very different taste in music. Also as you get older people get their own friends and life so it just becomes harder to plan stuff together... so yeah get used to going alone and don't miss out on things you wanna do because you don't have company available.
Most of these things aren't new ideas to me, but it was really nice to see all these "strategies" together, be reminded of things I started but didn't kept doing and I'll definitely pick up on these things again :) So yeah thanks for this!
I love to watch your videos. they always calm me, put me in the right head space and inspire me to get up and be better. I always want to be better but sometimes I lack motivation, which I get from you sometimes. thank you so much for that! much love, keep doing all the great things you're doing, you're making a difference
My disability makes it really difficult to be healthy and reduce waste, so one of my main goals this year is to hopefully learn to manage my time a little bit better which will enable me to stop reaching for premade food that's typically packaged in plastic. (This is not an excuse to hound other disabled people to use less plastic, everyone is different and not everyone can prepare their own food. For example, some people can't hold knives safely because their hands shake too much or they have seizures, so buying vegetables that are already chopped can make eating healthy accessible for them.) Also It seems to be the case that a lot of people who have curly hair want straight hair and a lot of people who have straight hair want curly hair?
Have you been to the Cinema by yourself? I do by myself when I'm the only person who wants to see that specific film📼🎥 - it's a great start to doing more alone outings, everyone is in the dark and watching a screen so no one should notice that your by yourself 💃
I love sitting alone in coffee houses and read! :) Thank you for this video! I really needed to hear something inspirational today and this was just the right video to watch! And your curls are exceptionally nice today, even though they are always nice!
Hi Immy! I just want you to know that you look so happy and that you are shinning so much rn!!! 2020 is being good to you i guess :) also, i just want to send you ALL the love. I am going through a rough time and watching your videos ALWAYS helps me! I wish i could meet you personally, you seem such an amazing friend and person to be around with
With regard to your walking challenge, would using audiobooks help with your reading challenge? I know walking is a wonderful time for immersing ourselves in nature or for reflection, but as you are having to walk for 4 hours a day(!) audiobooks for some of that time (hour or half hour) could maybe really help meet your ‘reading’ needs. Good luck with your challenges - love and best wishes :)
Oh, I loved these small changes! I've been able to add a bunch of loving, earth friendly (and self friendly!) actions per day, but there's still a bunch that you mentioned I'll add in. Thank you so much for the inspiration! (BTW, check out the 6 Minute Diary - it's the BEST for being able to add in 3 things to be grateful for each day, affirmations - plus things you want to do to make the day great and also actions to take to make the next day better. I've used a journal for so many years and this one is my favorite. I also use it to add my to-do lists, daily goals and record special moments.). HUGS!
My youtube at home is not signed in to my account...and its been amazing at all the video suggestions that have arrived that I would never have been aware of otherwise....I also listen to a lot of audiobooks for free from my local library that allows me to expand my reading palate...GREAT VIDEO 💜
This was such a GREAT video and list of suggestions 💓 I am my happiest when I’m singing but I NEVER thought of that as my “flow state”... 🤯 game changer for real! Thank you for this one dear 👍🏾
Good list. Also, even though I love my own hair, I have a bit of hair envy for yours, I think it's about how animated it is whenever you speak. Just gorgeous!
Yes you do have amazing hair, also love your boots are they vegan as I am looking for boots like those. I have started pottery classes and love being creative and chatting with new friends. Will drink more water. I will also try the cinema alone while my partner does his new hobby of metal detecting. Just been to the loft and found a ski jacket and a biker jacket I will never wear again and haven't worn in 10 years. So eBay here I come and that will pay for a few cinema days. Am looking for new people to hear from as I am minimalist, zero waste etc but just started reading re water and soil issues and population etc. Omg just found out about the book flow, will listen on Audio book. This us one of your best posts Emmy. Thank you darling. Xx
Loved this Immy, I will definitely be trying some of these out. I would also love a video on your top Podcasts/Books/Influencers to follow :) and reasons why etc.
I just want to say that that your ideas have been inspiring for me. I have read some books you've recommended and started a journal a wee while back , which is basically a thought journal. 2020 has a nice ring to it, apart from Brexit I'm feeling pretty positive. Maybe speed up your walking just a little to reduce the time ..just a thought. 🕺
Hey!! What I am lately doing to reduce my waste are home-made milk (with ingredients that I buy in bulk,) and home-made nut butters that I have learned how to make thanks to sustainably vegan! Look for some videos guys, it's incredibly easy and saves money :)
I think your description box (is that what it is called - god I feel old...) is the same as the one for your 20 sustainable ways to make a huge impact in 2020. (Although the topics go really well together ;)
Oh yeah, may I mention how beautiful your hair is 😃 I so happy you choose to acknowledge it 😃 I love listening to audiobooks from my state library App. Listening to 11/22/63 by Stephen King currently.
