From en.xcaretexperiencias.com/tul...
Tulum is one of the most important archaeological zones in the state of Quintana Roo, since it is the only site that faces the Caribbean Sea. In ancient times it had the name of Zamá that means dawn, its current name, Tulum, means "enclosure or wall". For the Mayans, this city was the main center of sea and land commerce in the area. Nowadays, it captivates everyone who visits it. This Mayan city was built on a cliff from which you can see the turquoise tones of the Caribbean Sea in all its splendor.
It has more than 60 restored temples, El Castillo is the main building of the archaeological zone of Tulum, which is the most photographed site in the Riviera Maya, due to its peculiar location on the cliff. The Mayan city is surrounded by walls, each one symbolizing one of the elements: earth, water, air and fire. The reef in front of the coast forms the fourth wall and which made Tulum practically inaccessible.

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by and watching my latest video. What tips do you have about visiting ruins in Mexico?

These are so useful, I will re watch this video if we get to Tulum. Avoiding Sundays is a great tip, it’s nice that locals get in for free but good to know to avoid crowds. Oh no the mosquitoes love me, maybe we won’t visit after all 😅

This is actually very helpful to watch because we're actually going to Tulum in 3 days! Thanks for the awesome tips, Sarah! We can't wait for Tulum, especially for the archaeological zones!

Great video guys, very informative - I love how you didn't miss out any details, things like water and sun protection seem obvious but they're so easy to forget! 😊 It looks so beautiful there... at this point in our winter season we've forgotten what lush, green grass looks like (everything is white here). 🇨🇦😊

I agree - if people can't follow that simple rule it could ruin the opportunity for others to visit in future.

I have added Tulum to my wanderlust list and now saving this video for all essential tips. I mostly have an allergy to sunrays and so it is a great tip to carry hats. Buying tickets from reputable source is also big advice as sometimes people get duped to many local fraud agents.

Great tips Sara! Especially about bringing water. Things like that can be so easy to forget and somewhat dangerous if you do. Good to know that you can swim as well. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Happy to share! Yes water was so essential there. We could have drank much more than we brought too, so we were rationing it 😅

Great tips here. Good to know specifically about the entrance. Dealt with something similar in Cairo with the Giza Pyramids. A very beautiful place. Love the ruins. Sigh people and Instagram photos are ridiculous. Loved the video.

Hey Sara this video is full of great tips! I like that your tour was guided, but also allowed you to explore on your own. The water tip is soo important 💦 especially on a hot day. I would have expected there to be water available. Oooh and the swimsuit tip is great too! I would sure be interested in spending some time on the beach.

We actually didn't have to pay for parking, but we had a good walk in, which got us nice & sweaty before even entering Tulum, lol! We did not know you can use the ticket to get into another ecological site the same day. Breathable clothes, so key!! We couldn't swim when we were there; they were doing some construction. We had our guide in Guatemala, and WOW, did that enhance our experiences there--learning so much!

Great tips, and some are so useful for a lot of other excursions (I often forget sunscreen and a hat 😅) All the tips are well planned out and grouped 😊 Also, it’s really cool that locals can access the ruins for free on Sundays and good for tourists to keep in mind 👍

Don't rent at DK Tulum La Veleta especially from Sol/Andrea. La Veleta is surrounded by garbage, potholes, and constant construction from 8 until 6 except on Sundays. Your video is great!

Did you consider an app lead walking tour? We are heading down there in a couple weeks and I'm not sure about hiring a guide (which also supports the locals) or just using an app. Wondering if anyone has tried using an app.

Hello! Thank you a most informative video!! I am taking a group of 10 there in 2 weeks. I wondered about food purchases at the vendors. Do you know if they take pesos or credit card?? It's a company trip and I need to pay for everyone's food. Trying to find out all I can and be prepared.

Thanks!! Many of the shops do take credit cards, but the small vendors take cash US or pesos.

@@TheAverageTourist Thank you! I think I am going to pull out pesos at the resort and just give everyone a per diem. I am thinking 300 pesos (15 USD) should be enough to eat something per person.
