Being from the United States, I never viewed our Pharmacies as "Pharmacies". To me these places were more like convenience stores that happened to be a place where you could get your medicines as well (e.g. Walgreens, CVS). Most of the time my visits to these stores arent even for drugs. It wasn't until I moved outside of the US that I realized that other countries have locations that are ONLY pharmacies and it was odd to me becuase I was so used to being able to get anything I needed at the same place where medicines were purchased.

Don't forget that most grocery stores have pharmacies. That and drug stores her in the US started out really as the first convenience stores.

There are still some independent (mom & pop) pharmacies that are not convenience stores. Years ago (pre 70's) almost all pharmacies were strictly for medicines.

Do you believe that the vast majority of Americans are "greedy as hell" too? United States isn't the only one in the "World Series", considering most players aren't even from USA but from all over the world. They're drafted from all parts of the world into the leagues, South Korea and Japan are big ones.
@reggiegimmix9128

apart from Japan Cuba USA canada Sotuh Korea...don't know many other countries with baseball leagues. Is there italian or swedish baseball players in MLB ? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a world series where teams from various countries played each other instead... like World Rugby Championship, Football World Cup, World Snooker, World Darts, World Athletics Championships etc... Most club teams in many sports have players from around the world anyway so MLB world series is more a national tournament not an international tournament...bit strange to call it World when other teams outside USA can't compete. Supposedly it's makes out it's a world tournament only american teams compete in it. Just saying it kinda sounds strange like the English premier league having a world cup competition. Wierd. ;)
@jamout3695
@jamout3695 6 лет назад
You forgot almost all south American countries and much more. Every country has their own sport if they don't play baseball as a sport it's not our problem now is it? They look all over the world for these players and draft the best out of them thus making it a "World Series".
@kimiorahenry179

But their still naming each team after American cities or locations and yall still call it the world series. Kinda weird dont you think? lol.
@markcowan3880
@markcowan3880 6 лет назад
@Jamout .. Yeah I know Baseball is played in many other countries. If there was a tournament played with teams from the other countries it would make more sense but it's not. Do Japanese teams play canadian teams and cuban teams in the World series? It still doesn't make sense to call it the World Series just because people from other countries play in your local city team. No other sport calls it's own tournament a WORLD tournament when it consists of teams from it's own country. Almost every team sport has players of different nationalities playing in their teams. The teams play in regional leagues. There are multiple leagues in each country. Each country has a national team. THe national team is usually represented by the best players of that nationality from multiple teams around the WORLD. A World competition is held. You don't see any other team sport call itself a WORLD tournament just because they might have a couple of players of a different nationality. What happens if one of your world series teams has no other nationalities other than US ... are they still allowed to compete. It's not a criticism of Baseball ( i used to watch american baseball on late night TV and I'm from Scotland) but it's just a weird concept to most other people around the world and a strange quirk of the American Psyche. Isn't that what this video is about.
@allenabel3471

I think it’s funny when people from other countries visit one single mega popular city in the U.S. and think they have a pretty good grasp on what life is like here. Like people will visit New York City and be like “wow America is very crowded and loud.” no, NYC is crowded and loud. I however live 30 mins from the nearest cvs and I’m surrounded by corn fields. 😂 this does not apply to Dani’s video by the way I was talking about other videos I’ve seen.

I don't know if anyone has actually answered you about the temperature system in the US or not. We actually do use the Celcius or Kelvin scale when it relates to non-organic matter, like in inorganic chemistry. We use the Fahrenheit system when discussing ambient temperature because unlike Celcius (which is based on water) and Kelvin (which is based on absolute 0), Farenheight is based on the human body. Anything below 0 can cause frostbite or other cold-related injuries leading to freezing to death, and anything above 100 puts you in danger of heat stroke. So you can quickly judge based on that scale how safe it is to go outside, what clothes to wear for the environment, etc. Our environment varies so much, because we're so huge, that we decided to use the easiest possible scale for that. We're not as interested in whether or not water will freeze as we are with whether or not WE will freeze. It's especially easy for very young children to understand, and especially in the past, we had MASSIVE issues with children dying of heat strokes. We would have a 'heat wave' every summer. We still have them, but they're easier to deal with now that air conditioners and such are a thing. I know that some of my European friends were amazed by that, but I'm not sure what the weather is like in New Zealand and if those types of massive temperature changes are also common. Apparently a lot of places tend to pick an extreme and stick with it, lol.
@wallacesousuke1433

takocos what a lot of rubbish! Here in Brazil we use Celsius to measure ambient temperature and we know clearly when the temperature is safe or leaning on detrimental levels...
@takocos
@takocos 6 лет назад
I'm sure you do. Most places do. That's the most common. It doesn't change the fact that we don't, or that the reason we don't is what I listed above. Those facts don't negate each other.
@miteor
@miteor 6 лет назад
Although your comment is interesting about the origins of the scale being designed to highlight danger points for the human body it is unfortunately nothing more than speculative hearsay, as even a cursory review of Fahrenheit’s work would show...
@takocos
@takocos 6 лет назад
Dude, literally google it. The difference is that the Celcius scale uses the base points of water whereas the Fahrenheit scale uses the human body temperature. It was developed based on human body temperature vs the coldest/hottest weather of the town the dude happened to live in and later refined to the temperatures where it started getting dangerous. It was so much easier to understand that it was used by most of the English-speaking world until the 1960s. That's not... speculation, that's common knowledge. Like... wikipedia/learning how temperatures work in kindergarten on the giant thermometer with Celcius on one side and Fahrenheit on the other fun facts poster. That's why it's not used for chemistry, it's a temperature meant to help things that revolve around the human body temperature. Think of it this way: Fahrenheit is "% of how hot a human being would think it is". 0% = Cold as fuck. You'll totally die. 20%= kinda cold. 50%= It's not hot yet, but it's not so cold that it'll kill you. Maybe take a coat with you if you're wearing short sleeves, but in a sweater you'll be fine. 70% = hell, you could go naked at this point. It's not super hot but don't wear long sleeves. 80%= It's fucking hot. Wear a swimsuit and a shitton of sunscreen. 100% = death from heatstroke.
@theloneranger8725
@theloneranger8725 6 лет назад
Camilla+ I know it gets very hot in Arizona, but your humidity is usually very low, so it still feels more comfortable. Come to Mississippi in August when it's 98 degrees F and 93 percent relative humidity; that's when it can get dangerous. Whatever amount of water you drink, we drink probably six times that much. You can stand still in the shade and sweat rolls off of you in rivulets. It's the high humidity that makes it unbearable, not just the heat. In the South we thank God every day for that miracle called air conditioning.

1. OK orange cheese is colored with annatto seeds. Doing this started in Britain centuries ago. At certain times of the year in England the grass eaten by the cows produced a darker color cheese which was preferred. At other times the cheese was much paler. So some clever English cheese makers started adding coloring so the cheese would be more consistently colored year round. They still dye certain cheeses in the UK. That method came to North America with English emigrants, and somehow the more orange color became associated with cheddar, and that just stuck. Good quality American cheddar, which is mostly made in New York and Vermont, doesn't have any coloring while cheese from Wisconsin usually does. 2. The drinking age. Believe it or not you sort of answered your own question when you mentioned college students drinking. There were, for some unknown reason, a ton of fatal car crashes involving drunken college students in the late 1970s - early 1980s. It seemed to be reaching new heights, plus there were a big number of alcohol related problems on college campuses. Seemed like every time you turned the TV on, there was another tragic story and another and another. Drunk driving had only recently been accepted as a problem, and the group Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD) had gained some political power. Reagan was in the White House. So they got some politicians on their side and proposed raising the drinking age to 21, which is when most young people finish their schooling. People were really aggravated with the tragic stories of alcohol related deaths, etc. back then. The bill was introduced and it passed. And it has apparently been successful. There are much fewer DUIs from young people, and less binge drinking (or any other kind of drinking) on US college campuses. 3. Yeah, the World Series is kind of an arbitrary name. Just for clarity's sake, though, I should point out a Canadian baseball team could also possibly play in the Series.

JamesJ Fisk ~ Thank you for explaining the coloring of cheese. I have wondered about that for a long time. But I do have a question regarding that. Why is the white American cheese harder than the orange American cheese? I am not referring to the cheese in plastic envelopes, but the cheese at the deli counter that's fresh sliced.

From a man's view point we space out. Okay let's say 6 urinals. I guy is taking a piss at the 1 furthest to the right. I walk in I'm going to head furthest to the left. You're NOT going to go stand right next to a guy when the option of space is available. If 5 out of 6 are in use and you're the 6th guy who walks into the mens room then of course you'll take the only empty space because no other options exist. But if you go stand right up next to a guy when it's not nessasary he's going to be like ( man what the hell.. Move over) that's my perspective. Only women have weighed in on this so far

Except it was called the World Series since 1903 back before baseball allowed non -white players. Back then it was all white. Because of an agreement between team owners to only accept white players. This agreement existed until the late 1940's. So even though there are players from every corner of the world today thats not the reason it's called that. One theory is that it was named for the New York World newspaper who sponsored it in the beginning, but that's just a theory.

Fahrenheit allows for weather reporters to give us a range to expect and prepare for throughout a day or week while a scale as vague as Celsius would not be accurate enough to prepare for. I found the graph used to illustrate the range comparison to be highly entertaining though as they lined up both zeros instead of off-setting the Celsius to line up with Fahrenheit's 32. I personally would have landscaped the scale and shrank it. Lining up the 100 with the 212 and the zero to the 32 for a more accurate comparison.

Sure, there are a lot of narcissists and weirdos there, but I've also found it much easier to find "the needle in the haystack," if you will. Maybe it's just been my luck. By contrast, San Diegans were just nasty jerks. The Bay Area (SF, Silicon Valley, SJ, Oakland, Napa) was okay, but weird; people were either really sweet and conversational, or just absolutely nasty and miserable. Ultimately, though, the friendliest folks in California are found in places like Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacramento, Gold Country, Chico, and the "State of Jefferson"--predominantly inland areas. I do ultimately prefer California over Florida, but can appreciate why people, especially on the East Coast, are so fond of Florida.

I live in America, I was born and raised here. The drugs u see on tv are required by law to state all possible side effects or they could be sued. If a doctor gives you the drug there's a 1 in a million chance it actually hurts you. And no one I know uses the lawyers on the bill boards lol... Idk why u can have a gun at 18, but I do believe it's important for Americans to have guns. Just saying that maybe we should wait till there 21, the age to join the military is 18 and the age to drive a car is 16 (Very by state) so age limits r kinda all over :)

Jonah Lostumbo. agree with you. especially the part about guns. I was raised around guns because my family went hunting so therefore I was taught about guns and how to respect them. these dumb asses who want to take guns away are totally stupid. guns don't kill people. people kill people. if someone is going to kill someone else they are going to find a way without a gun. my grandfather shot and killed a man because this man broke in and was getting ready to rape his daughter, my aunt. if my grandfather didn't shoot that man everyone in that house would probably be dead right now because that man had a gun. so thank god that man got shot or my five aunt and uncles, my mom, my grandma, and my grandpa wouldn't be here today. bless you and have a nice day!!

This was fun to watch. One thing I'd like to say as an American is that it really depends on what state you live in. Here in Massachusetts for example, there is no alcohol in pharmacies. Now, there's other stuff in pharmacies that one may not be used to elsewhere, but there's no booze in pharmacies. However, I think you did hit on a lot of stuff that you find in most states. Great job!

Willy et scientia - Well you were calling them overweight as an insult. Yes, many people are overweight in America, but you can't assume that this person is. Even in my experience I have only seen a couple of overweight people. The rest are average or super fit. If you had said "No wonder there's a high number of overweight Americans" rather than "No wonder you are so overweight" then I wouldn't have said anything. You didn't have to assume that because someone is American, they are overweight

Voting is fake the electoral college picks the president and nominees. When one country is involved in everybody's war and bullshit shoving patriotism down the citizens throat is important. While higher learning wasn't originally intended to re classify the citizen oddly enough the debt attached is designed to be unaffordable. @mhlevy
@mhlevy 5 лет назад
I love hearing the views of people from other countries who have visited the US, and much of what you say is quite valid from an outside perspective. Regarding pharmacies, from frontier times, small towns would have a general store, and a pharmacist might set up shop in a corner of the store. Others would set up in small cafes or ice cream shops. As the stores would grow, it would simply make sense for the general store to take over the pharmacy, and today there are very few specialized pharmacies that do nothing else, outside of hospitals, though there are some who sell just a few other products. Regarding flags, one reason is that anyone can become an American, all it takes is the will, and following the rules. My grandfather always said that becoming an American citizen was the proudest day of his life, because it gave his children an opportunity he never had, having been born a Polish Jew in the late 1800s, and later being conscripted into the Czar's army. I too am waiting for a drug commercial to announce the side effect, "may cause you to burst into flames..." Regarding peanut butter, if you're not familiar with Dr. George Washington Carver, do yourself a favor, and read about him. A true American hero, he saved American southern agriculture. College costs. As with most things in the US, the government got involved, screwed things up, got more involved to fix the problem it created, screwed it up more, got even more involved, made it worse. As more and more people in the US decided they needed to go to college, whether or not the students needed to, or were prepared or able, the government wanted to help make their dreams come true. So the government made grants and low interest loans available. As all this new cash was available to anyone who wanted it, colleges were able to increase tuition and fees at unprecedented rates, and this occurred in a circular system. As costs increased, the government made more money available. Once the banks realized that they would be left holding the bag, they got out of making the loans about 8-10 years ago, and the federal government (i.e., the tax payer) took over the federal loan program. To see something really hilarious, check out the chair of the House Finance Committee, Maxine Waters, grilling bank executives over the student loan crisis, and their responsibility for the enormous debt run up. A good lawyer knows to never ask a question to which you don't already know the answer. Apparently, she's not a good lawyer. The key was that nobody bothered asking if there was any value to the degree, or if someone should borrow $100,000 over 6 years to get a degree for which there are no jobs (except to teach in that degree program,) of if one were to find a job, the salary was $25,000 a year. The lack of responsibility of every party was astonishing.

Pharmacies in the US kind of have drastically changed in the last 20-30-ish years, before then they generally were often small locally owned shops with just prescription medicine, over the counter medicine, some common health products and maybe a few related items. However larger national/international stores started majorly expanding around then, which use the pharmacy as the main draw to get customers in the door and have a larger stock of convenience purchase options, often either putting the older locally owned stores out of business due to advantages of being a larger operation or just buying the store of the competition (which if I recall correctly was around the time most of the baby boomer generation pharmacists who owned those shops were getting to retiring age anyway).

Until the late 1970's lawyers were forbidden by the American Bar Association - and some laws in various states - from advertising. Once the Supreme Court overturned those laws, the floodgates opened and the "American Dream" has gone from working your way to a decent life, to suing someone for frivolous claims and winning a jackpot. There are a lot of inflection points where the American character has gone downhill, but this is, by far, one of the biggest. Everyone is terrified of doing anything that might, possibly, in any way possible, open them up to the mere possibility of a lawsuit. When I take over the country, the lawyers are the first up against the wall. ;-)

I feel like Americans are always on the move and since we have shitty public transport, we live in our cars (I'm not really complaining since I usually go on late night drives to nowhere in particular to clear my mind). The drive-thrus support this. I know there's drive-thru wedding chapels in Vegas or something, which is really interesting. We used to have drive-in movie theaters, but those died...shame because I always wanted to go to one on a date with someone. Most libraries in my area have a drive-thru book drop, which is super convenient. This bakery in my town has a drive-thru, which is funny because it's not fast food at all and quite messy to eat in a car. Point is, I just realize how much drive-thrus we have.

I LOVED going to the drive in movies in "the day." I have seen a few that still exist, but nothing like there once was. I remember paying 25 cents for adults and children under 12 got in free. Of course the people seldom checked the trunk of the cars, and there was usually 2 or 3 people hiding in there that got out once the car was parked. And to do that, one had to park in the back row, or the row furthest from the admissions booth. LOL I have seen young men come over the very tall fences around the drive-in movies. They had friends who boosted them over. Security (aka pretty good sized young men who needed to make an extra dollar or so for the night) was sometimes hired to walk around and make sure no one "slipped in."

With 50 states and a load of cities and all we can be quite different in areas around this country. Texas does wear cowboy hats and boots and some other southern states. So we get told that we are a big mixing pot because we have every culture and race in the world here and we are proud of that. So the slow orange ( yellow ) cheese you saw on Nachos is meant for that. But with every food from every country we also experiment and try things together. Were a creative bunch! If you are thinking about becoming a citizen, research all the states and cities that will fit what is right for you. That alone may take you a decade ! But do that for yourself. No one but you knows what is best for you. Were a FREEDOM country as FREE as that can be ! So you have that in all 50 states! So it is interesting to hear what other countries have and then all of you exchange students and travelers get the biggest kick out of spotting what is so different from us to your country. Were spoiled, but this tells us that we are on the right track of how we are as a society and a country. It also is because of Capitalism. That is our secret and that Girl from Russia that has her video, she caught that and moved here to start her company. She said it is the country that is best to start a company, and has all of these ways to aid and help you get started she was so impressed ! It is because of Capitalism. She would tell you! Boy does she speak on her video with such joy and all over the USA ! She said no other country did she find to be this wonderful and helped her get started and all. I wish we had American citizens watch what other people who come here see about us. We offer opportunities no other country can match and you would think that some Americans would wise up and realize how lucky we are to be in this country. It has to at some point, wake these people up. You seem to get it- they do not. It is also humbling to hear how many of you really like or love this country as well. Or at least, want to come back to visit again is high up there on ratings. Here is one idea that you should at least check out - that is if you have any interest in being in the US military for a short time. It is a way to become a US citizen and you get paid and all- this will blow you away what we have for those who want to become an American citizen quickly and cheaper ! Contact your US Embassy and as I said, this offer we have for you NON US citizens will blow your mind ! We will spoil you before your even a citizen ! You pick the branch of service, what you want to do in that service, they train you, you get to pick a school if you want to get an education on something else when you get out. That is not all of it either! No joke - no lie. I know people who have done this- they tell me that they do not know of patriotism from their country and then it hits them when they are serving in the USA. Plus they told me that they did good and what a country we have! Even a FEMALE has all privileges to be whatever she wants in the service, including a fighter pilot and we have some as it is now ! Check out our Military videos on you tube. The fun ones, motivational ones, and you will see allot of stuff ! As I said, learn about our country if you want to be a part of it and I hope I gave you more things to help you out.

Canada has a baseball team the Toronto blue Jay's, and they have played in the World Series so it's not just American teams, you mentioned how at the end of the drug commercials, there is a laundry list of possible side effects, that's to prevent them from being sued from one of the thousands of lawyers whose billboards you saw all over the place . We call them ambulance chasers. We've had drive-through banks here for close to 50 years. as far as the gaps in the stalls of the public bathrooms I think a lot of that has to do with construction cost if you wanted to make the stall completely enclosed that means the door would have to be a lot bigger and that would drive up the cost of construction.

It used to be very uncommon for lawyers to advertise at all, especially on TV. It's only become common in the past 20 years or so. Originally it was only "Saul Goodman" type lawyers who advertised (and you'd only see their TV commercials late at night) -- but now even some "normal" lawyers advertise.

I live in the U.S lmao. I've always wanted to visit another country like Japan or England, but I also feel safe on American soil. A lot of the things we do here may seem weird but every country has their quirks xD Each star on the flag represents a state, but the stars didn't always look like that. In the past, there were less stars and they were arranged in a circle. I haven't gotten that far in Social Studies yet (I'm an 8th grader) but I believe it looked like that soon after the American Colonies seized their independence and the government was born. Just an interesting fact :)

I consider any country with a homicide rate of 5.0 per 100,000 population annually to be safe; the USA meets this criteria. However, Japan's homicide rate is only 1/5 of the USA's. The UK's is only about 1/3 to 2/5 of the USA's, even with increased threats of "Islamofacism." Just sayin'.

Batman101101101101 look up the ATF form 4473. It's not *that* easy to get a gun. There are over 300,000,000 of them here so it's easy in that sense but ever purchase requires a background check done by the local police department to ensure you aren't lying on parts on that form.

I don’t know about the rest of the world, but In America, the places with the strictest guns laws have the most violence. If anyone you attack might have a gun, it makes it less likely that they’ll attack (which is why most guns are concealed).

Brian N Good. That means you think for yourself and are still in possession of healthy survival instincts. Most Americans seem to have lost them. They've been hypnotized and lulled to sleep. Our so called "leaders" have been selling us out and setting us up for a fall for a long time. They have identified everything that makes and keeps us strong and systematically attacked and eroded it: morality and belief in God, patriotism and pride in country, independence and self sufficiency, the family unit, harmony between the sexes, proper and quality education, control over our children and the values they are taught, even our sense of gender roles and sexual identity. We've been significantly weakened on every level I can think of. If I were a military commander tasked with the invasion of a foreign country these are the exact internal conditions that I would consider most favorable to the success of my campaign. I sometimes wonder if that's the overall plan. While our strength has waned China and Russia have grown considerably stronger. And now they seem to be working on convincing us that something has to be done about North Korea. I don't know exactly what's in the cards, but at the very least I'm certain that they will crash the economy at some point in the fairly near future. If you haven't yet become a prepper you should start. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst as the saying goes.

I am a USA born American and you Brits had better stay proud of your country and keep it protected and all. We love you in the USA and we do not want your country to get screwed up ! Make It Safe Again while we here in the USA are trying to Make America Great Again as well. You may not know this but I can guarantee you this, Trump is the best thing that can happen for not just us, but our ALLIES ! He is true American - and he will have our military there for you to kick the butts of what ever moron enemy attacked you. All 53 of our Ally countries are SAFE. I know a true American and Trump is one. We believe in protecting our Allies! It seriously is the American way. The full force of our American Military will rein down on what ever jerk off nut case attacked you. We as REAL Americans would never have it any other way. Thanks for the complement on our FLAG ! The stripes represent the first 13 colonies. The red and white also have a meaning and I forgot it all of a sudden! Be proud of your flag- it was side by side with our flag allot over the years ! Hey Dani, were there for your country as well if you ever need us ! I want to visit England someday also. WW2 you guys were mad at us guys because we came in to get ready for D Day. We teased about you guys driving on the wrong side of the road allot ! Plus the brit guys were jealous that the Brit girls liked the American uniforms. I had Uncles there, they liked what they saw of England. You can become an American citizen if you want, same to you Dani! We love really good people joining with us ! To us, that is an honor and great pride for someone to want to be a US citizen. We do have great pride in our flag, it has loads and loads of deep meaning. The stars have a blue background for night sky, white stars. We only started with 13 stars but the galaxy has grown allot since !!! LOL !!!

Regarding the Baseball World Series - Pro baseball started in the late 1800's. At that time, the US was the only country playing baseball. So when they developed the championship series, someone decided to call it the "World Series" to make it more exciting, since it was only played in the US.
@northerndarklight5305
@northerndarklight5305 6 лет назад
There have been Canadian teams in the World Series - Toronto, and Montreal. However, that title is very old, made up at a time when only Americans played baseball (since we made up the rules), back in the mid-1800's, so consequently only American cities had teams in the official Major Leagues. Now, many countries play baseball, and players from all around the world participate in Major League Baseball, but it is rare when the MLB expands the two leagues with new franchises. Maybe one day.
