Lets see: consumerism, paganism, nationalism, optimistic... yeah the USA is a social experiment where the participants have forgotten they are participants and started living the lies told to them. Very sad but then all nations and cultures are fake. There is only the individual.

Well calling us Europeans is kind of a stretch. You'll get different reactions from us as there are 44 countries and each one of them has it's own cultural bubble. When Europeans visit different European countries, they'll find everytime something weird about it. Even if you visit a bordering country there will always be something extremely weird about it.

And some of those countries have smaller subdivisions with their own culture and languages. The UK for example has Scotland, England and Wales, as well as northern Ireland, added to this you have Welsh, Scottish and Irish Gaelic, and brentish, so you could be in one part of the country seeing signs in English cross a border and bam you got road signs in another language with people who have different habits and customs

Many of us hate ours as well. Commercial broadcast stations are struggling to get by, running insane amounts of repeated ads that make you forget what you were trying to watch. I find that "opinion" to be brainwashing, even the Bhagwan couldn't have dreamed to control that level of dehumanized obedience.

For Euro travelers: The person asking for your ID likely knows you’re old enough, however if they serve alcohol, tobacco, or other age-restricted products without requiring you to show an ID, they could be fired. Local laws impose harsh fines on businesses who sell these products to underage customers, and to enforce them, regulators pose as “secret shoppers”. If one shows up, tries to buy beer or cigarettes, and the clerk or server _doesn’t_ require an ID, the business can be issued a fine on the spot. If a business is in violation multiple times, the owner will lose their licenses to sell age-restricted products, possibly even their entire business license.

Taxes, taxes, taxes. Here, we have people crying that they "have to pay for other people's children's schooling and healthcare and it's not fair," especially when they do not have children. The country is that individualistic. There are public schools here paid for with taxes, but many people do not send children to them because ""their students can get a better education at a private school which I am responsible for, not the government." People do not use their vacation days because they do not want to look "lazy" to their boss. The country rebelled over taxes. Some go as far as to say EVERYTHING should be private, even prisons. @greengoloco6559
@greengoloco6559 6 лет назад
The guns have been available in mail order catalogues since the early 1900's- (it's harder to get now, but there are already so many out there) Trying to claw all of them back in would remove them from the people that would abide by a law that now bans the ownership of such things... and that would leave people that don't follow the law with the few guns left... (the police still have guns, but they are only reactionary... so they'll show up to photograph your murder scene) Now, I'm not saying we're sitting inside our houses with a gun in a shaking hand pointed at the door- but what better deterrent to someone kicking in a door than the thought of getting a shotgun blast to the center of one's chest? An armed society is a polite society. Chicago has a gun ban and at least 10 or so shooting every week. It's almost like criminals don't follow the law, eh? Health care is overpriced and nobody wants to deal with a drunk 17 year old.

@craigchastain7016 6 лет назад
mathijs van der poel I kinda wish the tipping thing was less in the US (and some restaurants are getting rid of tipping) but it also kinda makes sense. You have it all wrong though. Tipping is not mandatory. No one holds one of our millions of American Guns (people have/will surely bring up) and forces you to tip! We do tip less for bad service - I do anyways. If you are my server and are rude or inattentive, the tip starts declining. If you are awesome, I will go as high as 25% (you better be awesome). It's not an excuse to pay less. It's paying for performance, it works best in service type jobs like waiting tables compared to service jobs like Tech Support. It's just like they say in Reservoir Dogs. People can make a livable wage by waiting tables. Especially if they bust their ass and the restaurant has good turnover.

In the US I went into a bar and the barman asked me to leave because I didn't have an ID with me. I was 38. I told him: look at me, do I look a minor to you? Seriously. I mean, seriously. I said "Ok, I will just order a coke" and I still was not allowed IN, I had to go out and that was the only open place in the freaking small town. I was shocked. Another time at the supermarket, I was with my boyfriend. We did a big shopping and he had some beers in it too, he had an ID. We were together at checkout. They didn't want to sell him the beers because I didn't have the ID with me. I was still 38. I couldn't believe it! I said "ok then! I don't know him, this is his shopping! He is going to pay for it anyway!" and they still wouldn't sell him the beers, shop's rules. I had to talk to the manager. It's insulting: we are 2 grown adults, I'm visibly almost 40, the last time I was told I can not buy something was 30 years ago by my mom, what is that? Plus, I don't have an American ID and I don't intend walking around with my Passport, risking being robbed and losing it, then it's a big problem!? And this is the land of the free?

Lee, Beauregard, and Bragg And the south wind blew hard on that ragged old flag On Flanders field in World War one She got a big hole from a Bertha gun She turned blood red in World War Two She hung limp and low a time or two She was in Korea and Vietnam She went where she was sent by Uncle Sam She waved from our ships upon the Briny foam And now they've about quit waving her back here at home In her own good land here she's been abused She's been burned, dishonored, denied, and refused And the government for which she stands Is scandalized throughout the land And she's getting threadbare and wearing thin But she's in good shape for the shape she's in 'Cause she's been through the fire before And I believe she can take a whole lot more So we raise her up every morning We take her down every night We don't let her touch the ground and we fold her up right On second thought, I do like to brag 'Cause I'm mighty proud of that ragged old flag

1 and 2. Agree, we should be like the rest of the world, but it's just very difficult to do a complete 180 change like that nationwide. 3. Yes, they're kinda poopy, but at least we don't have ridiculous taxes. 4. This is a result of government intervention. The more the government gives money to students, the more colleges charge. 5. While it will (hopefully) never have to come to it, we need guns as a sort of insurance policy against invasion and government oppression. Also, it makes for a good deterrent. 6. I don't see what's wrong with being patriotic, being thankful for all of the opportunities that the country has given you. Of course you can have too much patriotism which becomes an ugly thing called ultra-nationalism, but most Americans aren't ultra-nationalists.

But surprise eggs are illegal 8. You don’t use the metric system???1?1?1? 9. There are advertisements for prescription drugs 10. The bread is so sweet 11. You have to pay to apply for college??? 12. @joeallen2354
@joeallen2354 6 лет назад
nienke Have you not seen how fat we are? We need that huge gap so that the toilet seat is comfortably centered under each enormous ads cheek. 2. This annoys the hell out of us as well. 3. This is merely a polite way to open a conversation. Its not intended to be an invitation to actually discuss how you are doing. The social expectation is that the person asked will answer briefly, return the question, and then move on to another topic. Example: Person 1 "how are you?" Person 2 "terrible but I'm surviving. How are you?" Person 1 "Not bad, hey did you did you see the game last night?" 4. Servers make shit wages and depend on tips for income. Its not an ideal system but since a server may only make 4 or 5 dollars per hour we consider it extremely rude not to leave a tip (assuming the server did a good job). 5. We consider our flag a symbol of our people and our heritage rather than a symbol of our government. 6. Why wouldn't Wall-Mart sell guns? Seems like a bad business decision for a general merchandise store to not sell a product for which there is a huge demand. 7. Eggs aren't illegal. 8. We do use the metric system but not exclusively. 9. I can't explain this because our insurance company generally decides what medication we end up getting. 10. We love sugar. Hence one of the reasons were all obese. 11. No big shock there. They slap fees on dann near anything here. 12. Either way is acceptable. 13. Its a garbage disposal and people routinely end up in the ER with mangled fingers from them.

Like 99% of criminals have guns here. We banned the carry of weapons for like 30 years and there was still a lot of violent crime by criminals illegally carrying weapons. As a result we legalized carrying guns with a permit(In most areas) and as a result gun crime dropped since there were less defenseless victims. There are too many guns here for us to simply get rid of(Estimated at over 400 million guns) so that's why we let people carry guns for defense. Also it is in our constitution as well and changing that would probably result in thousands of deaths in civil unrest/civil war.

The suburbs. There are no supermarkets or playgrounds or bars or clubs or anything, just row after row of houses. They have gigantic lawns, every single one of them and all look the same. They also appear to have never been used, there are no picnic tables, no parasols, no children's artworks out of chalk, no flowers. Just a huge patch of grass sitting there, sad and alone. Nobody is sitting in a chair reading a book, there are no children running around playing catch, no movement, no life. What purpose do they even serve? Nobody's using them!

Hey, I have lived in Germany since the last 9 years and I wouldn’t think the German style is the most conservative in dressing. At least in Berlin and East Germany its quite common that young people wearing joggers or sports clothing for going out. I first lived in Munich and people there used to be more casual. But moving to Berlin I was surprised by their very relaxed way of dressing . It reminds me more to the U.S. compared to France or Italy. Yet older people do dress on a more conservative way. I would say in every metrópoli in the world you do find a more alternative way of clothing and therebefore maybe more relaxed but that’s just a common phenomena from massive cities. So I guess I would attribute my comment to that.
