20. X-ray Emission and Absorption (Intro to Solid-State Chemistry) 

This is probably my favorite lecture so far. It's so cool to have the parents show up. Grossman is super entertaining and educational. Also, this one is full of material I've never learned before. Thanks.

Why does the direct exitation result in distinct lines? Aren''t the atoms in the anode sitting in a metal lattice, so that the electrons have a continuous band of energy levels to get excited to?

The cast iron elbow immersed in liquid nitrogen - I missed what was going on in that demonstration, and how it related to the frying pan. Anyone know?
