With a short break in the storm action, we got out for a quick video snow tour out on Mammoth Mountain on Thursday 3-10-23.
With a 200-300 inch base above 9000 feet, there are near recorded levels of snow out on the ski area right now.
The base should be going way up over the next week, with 10 feet of additional base snow expected.
Snowman will be back out next week once the Mountain gets a break in the extreme weather that’s taking place.

Snowfall and Base: When I state there are 200-300 inches out on the hill that is based on the Snow Study Site, adding 30% for the top and taking into account areas that are deeper due to avalanches over the season.
Back in 2017, there was an area on the hill that was estimated to be over 40 feet from all the slides that took place.
The Seasonal Snowfall total comes from the only reliable place that is measured and that is the Ski Patrols Snow Study site located at the 9000-foot level. The measuring station is located near chair 11 at Main Lodge.
FYI, Mammoth does not have a measuring station at the top, and the one that is run by UCSB at MC Coy gets affected by wind.
To get an idea of how much has fallen over the top add 30% to the seasonal total that is being reported at the snow study site. I have measured around the hill for years after storms and found this to normally be an accrue formula to follow.
