My brain: dude, your gaming backlog is huge. Like, it's too big. You need to stop getting new stuff. Me: hey, wake up babe, I just added 200 DOOM WADs to one of my retro handhelds! My brain: here we go again...
Not long found your channel. I hope you do more tutorials on the retro devices. Very succinct and to the point. Only critique is I would of liked to of seen a few more examples of the games. But that is not taking anything away from your style. 👌🏽
Yeah, when I look at it now I should have shown at least 5 or 10 different games and pointed people to the full list in the description. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
Is it possible to just do specific ones, rather than the whole list? I already have a bunch of doom wads installed and I really just want to add sunlust, can I do that without deleting the other ones?
You should be able to do this by just moving over the shortcut file, The Wad and the Img for the specific one you want. Just make sure that the folder you are putting them in matches the folder you are taking them from the collection.
I just wanted to thank you for this guide but have a few questions. You mention to copy doom2.wad and doomu.wad, and put them on after the install. Well, the new folders already have the same files in their respective folders, and I almost overwrote when I moved the files. So, if they are already there can I just copy the links you left for the ports section that contain the shortcuts and just drag them to the root of my SD card? And if I have other wads that were not in your collection like TNT and Plutonia, and others that were in ports can I just download the shortcut links there and drag them to my card to have them work again? Similar to the question I had about the original doom and doom 2 and their shortcuts. I just didn't know if you knew that the doom wads you encouraged us to copy are already in the new collection of doom wads.
Yeah so from my understanding the ones that are already in there are the freeware versions, which will work for most of the Wads. However if you want to play TNT and Plutonia I think you need the original doom2.wad. I'm not 100% on that but you should be able to just overwrite those wads if you own the original ones and everything should work.
This is gods work thank you soo much. One thing if you could please assist - I am trying to add a couple of Doom mads that arent in the collection, i thought i could just put them where all the other doom WAD files are and they would work but theyre not .. ?
You will also need to make sure a short cut has been created in the PORTS/ Shortcuts folder You can kind of see that in this video here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kPJfAX0n8TM.html You should be able to do the same thing I do in that video where you just make a copy of one of the shortcuts and change the name of the shortcut file and update the Romfile inside the file.
@@PhyrexTechs Thank you. Still finding it a bit tricky. I have my mod that i have put in the games folder with all the other mods from the collection - i went into the shortcuts folder and choose a random shortcut to copy ( i choose Doom Lego) - i renamed that copied shortcut to the same name of my - put sd card back in Miyoo and did a refresh - i still must have missed a step? the new mod appears in my ports and with the name but when i boot it up to play it starts the Doom Lego game .. ?
Some of the custom firmwares have the PrBoom retroarch core so they should. However I have not tried it yet myself, I will try to remember to give it a shot soon.
I agree that 200 mods may be overkill for some people. I am someone who avoids large rom collections and likes to have a smaller library of things I know I will play. However, even if you don't want the full collection this can be used as a resource where you just pull a few from it that you find interesting and delete the rest of the wads. Then add more later if you want.
