Welcome to PhyrexTechs, my name is Henry and I want to use this channel to share tips, tricks, and hacks I have found or developed. Focusing on gaming handhelds, emulation, retro gaming, and PC tools.
when i try playing dreamcast games ike sonic adventure, the character doesnt move with the dpad, even when i press the power button, which is supposed to change the dpad to analog
Gonna stay on stock for now. I destroyed so many sd card because of garlic os last year. I think it will be a fantastic os in a few months. Anyway, regardless if using cfw or not in resident evil/dino crisis games I noticed that camera view angle change takes longer than on miyoo mini plus, almost twice as long. Tried different psx cores - same issue. All core settings are the same. This is very strange since rg35xx plus is so much more powerful than miyoo mini.
Yeah, I mentioned there is a bug with the control swap for the Plus version. A fix is being released in the next few days unless something comes up. But I'll pin a comment when it comes out.
Love the update videos, muOS is my new favorite thing to keep up with. Really looking forward to bluetooth integration, as it's the one down-side to the CFW imo. I love my 35xxplus and would prefer not to buy another console for analog sticks then have them in the way while I want to play simpler games portably.
Thanks! Yeah, I think bluetooth support and a boxart scraper are the last two features that might hold people back from checking this CFW out. Once those get added it will be wild. The D-pad /Analog swap fix for the 35xxplus should be out soon.
A guess a question I have is if using the reset button causes obvious problems when used, why does it exist on the system? I mean I get open file handles horror but why have one on this device at all?
Yeah, that would be a good question for the device designers. Maybe it's not as much of an issue with the Stock OS I'm not sure how they deal with hard resets. But just like a computer it's best to not use the reset button unless you have no other option. I also think computers have a more protections built in for dealing hard resets than something like a CFW on an SD card and I have seem many people get data corruption using the reset button.
@@PhyrexTechs So how to change settings so only the folder that you have the VArcade games in play in V mode as well as the controls change so you use the stick to move. Currently they play in V mode but the other way around and still using dpad to move
@@mohrasher What core are you using? If you are using Mame 2003 Plus you will need to open “Retroarch Setting” > Core options > Tate mode = On Hit B once then select Manage Core Options > "Save Content Directory" This is how you will set the controls for any of the cores: Retroarch Settings > Controls > Port 1 Controls and set Right analog Y- : Right Right analog Y+ : Left Right analog X- : Up Right analog X+ : Down Hit B once “Manage Remap files” and select “Save Content Directory Remap File” Using the Save Content Directory option means these settings will be saved and used for only games in the same folder.
@@mohrasher If your not already, start up one of your arcade games first. Then get to the Retroarch menu using the Menu+X buttons. If you are missing the settings you may need to change the Retroarch core by hitting select on the game selection screen.
This update made me want to buy a H model and retire my plus. Never wanted the joystick thing, but when it became "avaliable"(it's broken on mine too) I started to see the possibilities that the plus model cannot offer.
@@davidmateus9320 I have not tested that system, however if you want to try it out. All you have to do is create a folder in the Roms folder and add your Sinclair games there. Then when in the game browser hit the select button and choose the Sinclair Zx Spectrum core.
I don't know if you'll read it, but I'll try or see if someone could help me. I do all the steps correctly, and when the FlashPartitions.bat file has to be executed, the console does not flash. Because it can be? PD: Sorry for my bad English. SOLVED:In case someone else experiences what happened to me, the solution is simple. You have to copy the files from the gamma OS folder to the same folder where adb is running. To make it easier, I downloaded ADB + Fastboot portable and copied the files from the gamma OS folder to the adb + fastboot portable folder.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried it three times. First I installed the Mu OS firmware that came before refried beans for the rg35xx sp on a 64 GB SanDisk card. I followed instructions and Flash the firmware with Rufus. And then in Windows 7 I opened up the SD card after initializing it in the SP device. And Windows management I can see a whole bunch of partitions but there's no ROMS partition just a RAW unformatted partition. This raw partition I can't change the drive letter or format it to FAT32 exfat or NTFS. Then on my second attempt I used a 256 GB sand this micro SD card and then tried it with the newest version of muos refried beans for my SP as well. Then I get the same exact thing I have a big 200 plus gigabyte raw partition at the end of SD card but it can't be assigned a drive letter or formatted
Damn, that's an odd issue. After you flash muOS onto the SD card and if muOS seems to run after the device finishes the install that should mean that the flash and install process worked correctly. So it sounds like an issue with the computer detecting the SD card properly. In disk management, you may want to try to delete all partitions/volumes and make sure that you have just one unformulated partition then start over with rufus to flash the SD card muOS.
@@PhyrexTechs yeah it's so odd. The SP can see the card and the device works on MUOS, it's just the pc not seeing the last ROM partition which should be in exfat format that the SP should have created. Its a few partitions I can see in disk management and then a large RAW unformatted partition at the end which can't be changed . That's a good idea let me try again Update:I formated as a single partition in Rufus to clear out all partitions as well as disk part in cmd line to clear all partitions. Then did a reflash in Rufus with refried beans and same thing. No roms partition is created in exfat only a large raw partition at the end. The SP even says its "restoring roms partition". In the SP Dingux it looks like there is a ROMS folder in MNT in sd card
After looking into this more it sounds like it might have to do with Windows 7. There are a lot of reports of people having issues with windows 7 not being able to see exFat partitions when there are like 6+ partitions on a drive. If you have access to another computer you may want to give that a try.
I'm using EmuDeck on my Steam Deck so you might think I'd be using Knulli on the RG35XXH but MuOS is just the better pick, especially after this update, the only thing I don't like is that the artwork and metadata still has to be on the OS SD. There are themes to change the main menu's looks to a Knulli-like sidescroll thing so that' great. Don't see a reason to leave Mu
Many thanks for the super informative video! do you happen to have a Powkiddy RK2023 as well? do you know if those sticks suffer from cardinal snapping as well? Unfortunately NONE of the reviews i looked up (which must be all of them by now) tested this. I understand that for retro games not much precision is required, but i'd love to use the retro handheld for game streaming as well...
I have question regarding the RG405m my touch screen has been disable some how i can't use the touchscreen at all. I reset my device like 5 times even disconnect my battery and nothing.
Hmm, not sure about that one. Normally disconnecting the battery fixes that issue when I have seen it before. You may try a factory reset if you can get to that menu option without the touchscreen.
I've got this on my 28xx. For the most part it works pretty well. Some things are better (Dreamcast, the addition of Vectrex, the ability to add audio samples to Mame), some worse (the music player, no video player, all the games in a folder are locked into the same core), and some are the same as stock (like N64). One weird issue though, is my Atari 2600 games are offset and no change in aspect ratio fixes it.
For someone like me that does not like overlays what interpolation option would you recommend for the mini plus to get the most balanced pixels while still looking sharp?
Would you mind helping. My device wont turn on after finishing flash partition on your tutorial, so I tried to follow the unbricking tool guide the problem is nothing shows up when pressing the 3 buttons . Is there any way to fix this?
Yeah... I feel the same way. At least with this one Gamma OS is in the works and they already have a analog stick fix for it working. github.com/TheGammaSqueeze/Bootloader_Unlock_Anbernic_T820/releases/tag/analog_fix Going to wait for the full release before making a video on it.
Wow what an extremely helpful video, thank you! I found my PS2 capable retro hand held soul mate with the RG556. I freaking love this device, its control layout, its perfect size and how comfortable it is to hold. I actually look forward to playing it the way I looked forward to getting home from school to play SNES. I curl up with this thing the way people curl up with a good book, it really is that enjoyable to play, especially with the massive number of GooglePlay, retro console and arcade classic games it can play and store. The bang for the buck is insane. I'm not a fan of see through so I got the black version. it looks so much better to me and there's no light bleed which really makes both the thumb stick light rings and drop dead gorgeous AMOLED screen pop even more. I don't know squat about setting these up, so I went with the variant pre loaded with over 4400 games. The factory loaded front end is easy to navigate and works perfectly fine, and the game library is very deep and well rounded. Then I picked up a 480 PS2 game library SD card that never leaves the slot. The RG556 runs them beautifully and perfectly auto mapped all the controls. The PS2 emulation is way better than I was expecting. Such an all around fantastic hand held, and in my opinion your best choice if the best in class Odin 2 is a bit outside what you want to spend.
Sorry im going insane, this tool is not working for me it keeps getting an error...Maybe is out of date? i see im a little late for this kind of thing!
For the best performance you will want either muOS or Stock. I think muOS runs better but it's debatable as others say they get better performance from stock. If you have 2 SD cards you can try both for yourself and swap back and forth easily.
@@PhyrexTechs "Hi, please help. I want to set up a single 128GB SD card for my RG35xxH. I want to install the operating system and ROMs in one sd card. Do you have a tutorial for this?"
@@thelatepatrick Yeah, this video is for the previous version (v10) but the install process will be the same you may just notice some visual differences with the boot screen or theme. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Do_bJWNez4k.html
If they are for retroarch you will want them in the systems folder in retroarch. If you are using a SD card you may need to go into the retroarch directory settings and change the bios location to point to your bios folder on your SD card.
Do you happen to know the pixel W x H for the Skraper box art website. I attempted to add the style you did but it just did load in when i put in the whole screen 640 x 480.
