Highlights of the #24 Razorbacks dominating 27-6 victory over #14 Texas in the 2000 Cotton Bowl in the first meeting between the two teams since 1991. Arkansas would sack the Longhorn quarterbacks eight times and hold them to -27 rushing yards. It was the Hogs first Cotton Bowl since 1990 and first win in it since a 31-10 rout of Georgia in 1976. The victory gave Arkansas an 8-4 record and #17 final ranking, while Texas finished 9-5 and #21.

I have never in my life seen Arkansas players as hype as they were on the field after every single play. They wanted blood on every snap. Every player was fist pumping after every single tackle

Four years old and was at this game. When the long horns came out I stood up without direction and gave the horns down. My dad said that was the proudest he’s been of me

That was a fun day. They talked a bunch but we knew all that week they had nothin for us. We all woke up hype that morning. I was a jus a freshman on the field but I hadn't ever experienced that level of focus and being tuned in as a whole team like that before.

This game marked the 30th anniversary of the teams' legendary 1969 meeting, also known as the Game of the Century. In that game, Texas came back from 14 down to win 15-14, clinching the SWC title and going on to win the national title for the 1969 season. Although this Cotton Bowl was played in the 2000 calendar year, it was part of the 1999 college football season, as, including bowls, the college football season runs from either August or September to January of the following year. Hence, this Cotton Bowl occurred during the season of the 30th anniversary of the 1969 Arkansas-Texas game. The teams marked another major anniversary of that game with a bowl meeting in 2014, the Texas Bowl. This meeting was announced a day after the 45th anniversary of the Game of the Century.

First Hogs game for me and it was memorable. Only reason I got to go was because we lived in DFW, so having a razorback game in my backyard was a rare opportunity. One of the best football experiences of my life and I was only 14 yrs old.

Arkansas leaving the SWC was the beginning of the end. I miss the old school smaller conferences and everyone played everyone every year. And winning 10 games and making a bowl was actually a big achievement because they only played 11 games and a bowl not 14-15 games and make a bowl with 5-7 re or because there is 80 bowl games.

and Nutt ALWAYS had an amazing talent at getting GREAT running backs to Arkansas, Cobbs, McFadden, Jones, Hillis, just to name a few. he just never could get the passing game going.

Houston inherited Stoerner, who threw for almost 5000 yards in his last two years under Nutt. Otherwise, unicorn Matt Jones threw for almost 4000 yards combined in his last two years. But yeah, outside that, he didn't really have a passing threat team...

Boo Williams was the reliable target and Lucas was the home run threat

3:51 if you watch closely Cobbs had his right foot on the sideline out of bounds before he dived over the goal-line for the touchdown. It didn't matter much in the end in terms of the final score, but I just wanted to point out that major missed call from the refs in this game lol

Horns down, hogs up. Always and forever, I hope the horns never win another thing. To hell with the horns.

Lol, seriously? Yea, the program didn't have much stability when he came on but he was given and loaded squad. And the SEC West wasn't pristine back then like it is now. And when he left, he left the next coach with arguably one of the most depleted, least talented SEC teams to take the field in who knows how long. The defense was horrendous. He left the program in shambles.
