I am having the same problem with my 2002 Mitsubishi with a 2.4. It throws a P0101 Mass Air Flow sensor code. After doing some research I have come across several videos like yours saying the Mitsubishi 2.4 intake manifold is known for cracking at the TBI mount. There is no aftermarket intake manifolds for this engine so all you can do is repair the old one.
Mine was sheared off , broke down on a Saturday on I-9*5 in Emporia , Va. shop I had my Mitsy towed to found a manifold from a pontiac that fit had me back on the road on Tues. $ 524.00 labor and parts

I'm having the same problem and I refuse to take it to a shop to be ripped off. I know it's an easy fix. Sometimes its as simple as removing and inspecting the IAC for carbon buildup ---> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8YVd5NICvpk.html Also, check for spark plug or coil pack issues if taping the throttle body or cleaning the IAC doesn't do the job. These galants are notorious for leaking oil into the plugs and burning out coil packs.
It has a i4 not a V4... Btw burn this car what the fuck is going on in the engine bay??? The worst Galant I've seen (and I've owned three as a cheap ass car that can run lol)
