yes but whatever how much you put in those, its deceiving compared to other cars, its weak, engines are too heavy, too much moving parts, car feels like a sedan more than a pure sport car, only subaru makes cars that are worst overall, the only reason why people still buy those its because they did not had the money to buy when they were young and mustangs were cool back then, so they live their old dream when turning 60, and its the cheapest sport car available, like a mcdo cheeseburger will always sell even if it taste like cardboard...

All you guys make great points. That's true. I think Motor Trend listed the '99 Mustang GT at 5.2 0-60- but I think this was either under very favorable conditions and/or bribe incentive. The latter being more likely. Those were 260 HP [factory claim]. Common for those to dyno at 212 to the wheels. With another 80+ horsepower only .1 faster 0-60? I think 350 HP at the crank on a new edge would do 1/4 mile in 13.2 or better with a good driver.

Having owned a 2001 Roush Stage 3, I can tell you these performance numbers from Motorweek are incorrect. Car & Driver in their 2001 June 1 article tested a stage 3 mustang with these numbers: 0-60 - 4.3 sec's, 1/4 mile at 12.9 sec's, 164 mph top speed, and .91 lateral grip. Motor trend articles also from this time confirm these numbers. Motorweek conservatively tests cars. The early roush stage 3 mustangs were raw, fun cars.

No not in 2000. 2004 was when the exceptional cobra R was put out. The 2004 "terminator" had a 4 valve 4.6 with blower. Was excellent car. In 2000, although same body style (new edge) the cobra that year I believe only came with a 4.6 that was a 4 valve. Correct me if I'm wrong but I ebelive that was it. Which was a modest 300ish hp. Those cars struggled to get under 6 second 0 to 60. This stage 3 was a pretty different animal

@@turbojetpowered8299 Keep in mind this was a pre-production mule. In '01 Car and Driver tested a Roush Stage 3 and got a 4.3 0-60 and a 12.9s quarter @ 111mph which are quicker and just as quick as an '03 Cobra tested back in the day. @@turbojetpowered8299 this exactly... C&D ran 12.7 @ 111mph with the Stage 3 and iirc the Mach 1 tapped 12.9 or 13.0 in stock form with 107 traps. The 350 number is probably pretty close to accurate given the weight.

What is a Rousch Mustang? Is it really a "genuine article" if it's misspelled? I always was amused that these with a supercharger weren't any faster than the V8 4th Gen F body from that era. It's so funny that pony cars from this era had to have a manual transmission to be any fun but now the automatic transmissions are faster than the manuals and just as fun to drive.

I am going to swap my RCSB Silverado over from a Procharged Gen 3 LS and 4L80E to a Gen 4 LSA and Tremec 6060 from a ZL1/CTS-V. To add, the Coyote is a descendant of the Modular V8 used in this 2000 Roush Mustang. The technology to control detonation is the key to today's engines being able to run compression ratios similar to the muscle car hey day of the late 60s. All aluminum construction, multi-valves, highly efficient combustion chambers, variable valve timing, efficient production tolerances, etc.. Remember too, a modern engine makes those big numbers at "peak" efficiency(ideal weather conditions, highest octane fuel available, etc.). Just like in the old days when getting your muscle car "super-tuned" to extract every HP available, modern cars need their ECUs to have access to ideal conditions to perform the same way.

@05gtdriver
@05gtdriver 2 года назад
@@padistedor From my understanding, the Gen 2 Coyote is basically a 2012-2013 Boss 302 in it's tuning and improvements over the Gen 1 Coyote. The Gen 3 is the Coyote that has larger pistons, a higher compression ratio and other improvements to make it's nearly 50+ HP over the Gen 1 engine. TBH, any Gen Coyote is a pretty sweet engine, loves to rev, gets decent MPG for it's output. Enjoy your 2016!
