2001-2007 CLASSIC Silverado / Sierra High Beam Indicator Lit When Truck Is Off REPAIR FIX

In todays Video i am showing how i fixed my GMC from illuminating the high beam indicator when the truck was turned off. I would hop in the truck after it was off for a couple days to find this and knew it had to beam draining the battery.

I was excited to see this .. but have to add! I did this and had same issues.. the cluster plugs in to the module under the steering wheel 3 molex connectors.. I did the same there with the grease.. problem went away! So if you are not successful at the cluster do it at the module as well! Thanks for getting pointed in the right direction

Oh was I so skeptical of this working.. after doing several things to no avail.. I did this today. For 1st time of owning this truck light is now off when it's supposed to be. Big thanks! 🍻

I appreciate the reply man letting us know that it worked for you. I have caught so much crap over this video from people that did it and said it didn't work. Keyboard warriors you know. It's not like I'm getting anything from it. I was just sharing what worked for me.

@@madmikesgarage4861 & those of us it did work for would have never thought about something as small as that for the issue to be resolved. I figured even if it didn't work, I'd have way less time in that than some of the other things I'd tried by that time. Been there done that with keyboard warriors.. I get it. I wouldn't let it get to me.. Saw some of the comments & had to share my successful experience. Appreciate cha.

I put the grease I'm not too sure how much to put but it didn't work for me. I also placed some on the relay I will check and try again

Mine seems to be the tail lights. The tail light bulb receptacle looks burned. And After further inspection I found more than 5 electrical plugs and all light bulb receptacles on the outside of the truck looked burned out. Some got replaced and some just got grease. It has been a long difficult and dirty but thanks to your video, I got headed in the correct direction 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I found out what fixed my issue with my high-beam indicator was not the grease which I tried didn't work I replaced the signal switch GM Genuine Parts D6299A Combination Switch which fixed the problem for me

Thanks for the update! That was the next thing i was going to try if the grease didn't work for me. It may not have been the grease but me moving wires may have made a better contact somewhere.

Will try this out ! This issue drains my battery bad. My 5 years temp solution for this was disconnecting my battery whenever I don't drive the truck - pain in the arsss. When I drive it, had to connect the battery. Hope this works. BTW... took my truck into 2 car shops and they couldn't figure out what's wrong with my battery issue.

I hope this works for you. I know it really doesn't make sense I'm not sure if the dielectric grease is really doing anything or if disturbing the wires cleared it up for me.

Don’t know who made my truck yet, but I’m a Cornwell girl… not a guy!!! Was your light killing your battery when it was off for a long time? If my truck isn’t driven for about a week my battery is dead…

Don't mean anything by it when I say hey guys. I say it way too much in the videos I noticed. The light being on can't help your battery that is for sure. The dielectric grease that I put on shouldn't have really helped anything either just think unplugging the connector in the back of the instrument panel reseated the contacts when I plugged it back in.

This did not help issue. my truck highbeam indicater light is always on except when i have the interior light master switch off, i jave noticed.

I didn't see WHY the indicator light stay on though? I was trying to figure out a light issue since passenger side low &high beam went out after bumping a pole months ago. Fog lights still working on both sides. High & low beams only worked on driver side after that. The fuse also blew when I tried to replace it thinking that was the problem. Was trying to see which bulbs were good by switching out on the working driver side. The high/low beam on the driver side were fine at first then all of a sudden i had no lights when checking bulbs except fog/daytime on both sides. Now my 'brights' indicator light is staying on. Fuse didnt blow for the right side(driver)and relay seems fine. Can anyone answer WHY the indicator is staying on and why I no longer have high or low beans on either side? Could the wiring harness need replaced on both sides now? Could it be more than a wiring harness issue?? Why is this happening??

It didnt work for me either but The cluster plugs into the module under steering wheel. I did the same there and problem solved!

Correct.. when I pulled the bottom plastic off. The BCM had fallen out of the holder, I know more than touch it and the high beam light shut off (I was trying to attempt this with door closed) I put it back in holder and re-seated connections.. it's been 2 days and it's still off and no dead battery!

This didn't help me. I put some on nothing and then tried again and really put a lot on like two packets and nothing but worth the try. Ya something that same exact problem with multiple causes.

I am thinking that maybe just taking the cluster out and disturbing a bad connection may have fixed mine. But i promise you almost a year later and i have never seen this light back on.

@@madmikesgarage4861 mine is off and on almost seems when the humidity is up it's on. Just a small diode light didn't touch my battery level, I'm wondering to drilling a hole through it, lol.

My truck showed the High Beam light for months until i did this. I read it somewhere, i didn't come up with it. It has worked for me for 7 months now so i wanted to spread the love. Don't shoot me because it didn't work in your particular instance.

Actually, greasing the connectors keeps out moisture. Moisture is usually what causes electrical issues in vehicles.
