Finally, someone who likes Anti-Seize !!!!! Thank you. I've watched and done many of these; I've watched some who have spent countless hours (even a weekend) struggling with One bearing / hub and it doesn't seem to dawn on the installer what got them there in the first place (corrosion!) . Thanks for thinking of the next guy. I use it on the bearing surface as well!

Thank you. This refreshed my memory. I have done this a couple of years ago on the driver side. Passenger side has a little wiggle in it. I noticed when I was rotating tires. Good time to check for play, wiggle. I have a Timken hub coming next week. 55 ft/lbs on hub bolts. Thanks again.

Great work. Note: This job will apply to Olds and Cadillac. Keep up the great work and videos. My 1999 Cadillac Deville is the same I was looking for a easier way to remove the hub from knuckle/spindle.

if you leave 1 bolt loosened in the hub you can strike the back with a hammer and it will help you a great deal with seperation.

Thanks so much for this how-to. I'm curious to know which replacement hub assembly brand you used. Quality seems to be an issue with them, so any recommendation is welcome. Also, where did you put the jack stands while doing the work? Thanks, again.
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars 2 года назад
I don't remember. Oem is best, but price wise tough to justify many times. It would either be a timken or a moog.

Thank for the information! Question, I noticed that the swaybar has a good amount of space inside the bushing. Mine is like that too and wondering if they're too worn and need to be replaced???? Mine have more of a space then yours too.I know the load of the cars weight isn't on but was also wondering if those bushings if worn, could produce a vibration in the front end at higher speeds? Or for that matter, can worn hubs produce a vibration like that too???? Thanks much! Great work!
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars 3 года назад
What I've experienced with broken / really worn sway bar links is either a floating or "squirrely" feeling while driving, not vibration..

I'm doing this and the new hub came with instructions to torque axle nut to 155ft lbs. Gm says 118ft lbs. Which one should I pick? Thanks Charles! Also, at 5:46 and at 6:45 as you turn the steering wheel to get at the 3 back hub bolts, I hear a clicking sound, why?
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars 3 года назад
Go with what GM Says... The clicking sound is just the strut (unloaded).

I have a 1998. I have a snapped wheel stud. Unfortunately, the shop manual procedure for the wheel stud does not appear to work while the hub assembly is on the car. I really didn't want to have to replace the bearing, but I guess I will do the entire thing instead. The car has 99,000 and the bearings don't appear to be bad. The replacement studs are slightly shorter than the stock studs, but they are just too long to get through the back of the hub assembly. I hope the procedure for 1998 is similar to 2001.
@bigblockelectra
@bigblockelectra 3 года назад
I was able to replace the stud. Luckily I had no issues getting the assembly off of the knuckle. It came right out. Good video.
