This video will give you a brief description of how to repair your Mercedes S500 or similar models trunk. When I purchase my car the trunk would not open with the key fob or button inside the car so I had to pull the key out of key fob and open manually. After watching some videos and doing my own research I found a simple way to fix.

Thanks, I think this is the problem with my trunk, because whether I press the key, use the drivers side lash or press the actual trunk button, it takes a while for the trunk to open. And, yes, it would be great if you make a video from the beginning, also what tools are needed. Thanks ✌️

My '07 SL550 trunk power assist won't open or close - it opens and closes manually however. Soft close for the trunk works, door locks work, seat lumbar works which I assume means the PSE is functioning fine. Pulled fuzes #9 & 71 and looked fine. Replaced started battery a couple months ago.

Hey buddy thanks for the tutorial My S430- 2006 has the same problem When I press the remote or the switch to open the trunk, it won’t open and I do hear the shshsh sound coming from that little while plastic tank. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I have a 2000 s500 and my trunks not opening, only manually with the metal key from the fob, I have the same issue with the black pump same as yours rather than the white pump, when I hit the trunk button on the fob I seen the black pump is leaking it has a rod that extends out and as soon it extends the half of the black pump piece separates a little till the rod goes back up where it leaks and I hear the air and can feel it when the rod extends, so if I basically flex seal it a coupe of coats and put the hose clamp to keep it from separating when the rod retracts, it should work? Were you experiencing the same exact issue before you did your remedy?

Thanks alot brother after I watched you video I tried mine and it started working. Zip tie then spray it with flex seal.working great now

My trunk does not open also at all no matter how I try to open it. Only opens with manual key. Will check this out

Hey Peter good review. Can you tell me about the white Plastic Piston you point to at the start. Is that meant to have air spewing out of the middle of it? mine is leaking.

christine houlahan unfortunately that is all part of the same system and should not be leaking. Many people fix this part by using super glue along edge if it’s leaking there. Some do leak internally and will need to be replaced. Best bet is if at all possible to take it out and usually you can blow into them and see where it’s leaking. Also if you have it out you can glue it and clamp it so it seals better. Let me search online and see if that part is available and if it’s cheap I would replace or try a quick fix

The item is called a trunk soft close actuator. I have a similar problem but my manual key won’t even work. It locks itself closed and the only way to open it is by taking the screws off near the keyhole 2000 s500 I don’t have the green button

I cannot open my trunk automatically, I have to use the key. I opened it by and there is a plastic line beside my battery. It is disconnected. Where it is from. Looks like it is a line connected to the automatic opener. Pls help me.

The plastic line beside your battery is a drain tube for the battery

my softclose on driver-door and massage-seats doesn't work. i guess it's also some air-leaking. any easy fix for that?

Massage seats seem to never work and run one different pump than doors. I gave up on trying to fix mine since they aren't that good. As far as door soft close start with a reset by pulling fuse. You can chase the leak and see if it's the accumulator located in door but it is a lot of work to change. I have changed one out before and it fixed issue but can be more than it's worth. If there are no leaks it could be the pump which is easy to change but costly. Let me know if you need more help chasing it down and fixing.

@@petescarport As i know the PSE-pump which is located in the trunk is both for seats and for softclose. it has different lanes for each door and one lane for all seats. if an error occurs the specific lane will be deactivaded and can be reseted by pulling the fuse, like you described. In my car SC on all doors, except driver-door works. i tried to reset with the fuse and then it worked 3-4 times. then it deactivaded again. i heard also a squeak-noise from the door, so i think the leak is in the door and the pump is ok. i suppose the massage is also out because of some bad hose or something. but maybe it's not worth the seeking.

@@vornamenachname5589 oh sorry I was thinking of the w140 and completely forgot there's only one pump on the w220. Been a few years on that car. I would bet it's the actuator. If I recall they failed a lot on that car. I think they are a pain in the ass to do on the w220. W140 ones I've done but I don't think I attempted the ones on my w220

I have a MB S 430. I cannot open rear door. Do you have any ideas what the problem could be?

Sometimes you just need to recalibrate the lock. I couldn't open my window when I got it and all i had to do was hold down the key till all windows went up and it reset the window.

Sorry but can you fill me in a little more on issue and year of the 430. I'm guessing the lock is stuck but it may be something different. Please let me know how it happened or what you may know. Thank you. I would love to see if we can resolve this 😀

I have a 2003 Mercedes S430 and I cannot open the rear passenger door from the inside or outside. I have no idea what caused the door not to open. @@petescarport

@@nanmer5694 it sounds like a faulty door lock actuator. Each door has one and if it got locked and then broke it won't unlock or lock. I would suggest removing door panel. From what I remember the rear doors are pretty easy to change out but the front are very tuff.
