This is chris Campbell's mother reaching out to anyone who remembers my beautiful son will have been lost to us 18 years ago this sunday i miss him so much it hurts every day
I'm a Florida state fan...never saw a team this loaded..may be the greatest college team i ever saw..when Frank gore is your 3rd string running back and Kellen winslow is your second string TE and u lose Reggie Wayne ans Santana Moss the year before and u end up being BETTER, you're a helluva team
@@danielkelegian5306 Indeed. As great as ALL the 80's and 90's and early 2000's Miami Hurricanes teams were on offense, it was ALWAYS their defense that was their real strength. Going back to the Russell Maryland and Warren Sapp days. RIP to a once box office sensation that has fallen so hardly and ALL self inflicted by two things. Poor coaching hires and the decision to go ALL black at QB since Brock Berlin graduated. How's that worked out for them?
What a year to be a Cane’s fan. This 2001 team is, in my opinion, the greatest college football team of all time. The amount of talent on this team is unrivaled in any era and it’s not even close.
It wasn't just payback for losing to Wash @ Wash in 2000. It was double-payback for losing to Wash @ the Orange Bowl in 1994, when Wash ended The Streak (the 58-game undefeated home game streak from 85 to 94). I was at the 94 game at the Orange Bowl, we were in shock. So fast-forward to this 2001 game, and the fans here were more pissed about the 1994 loss than the 2000 loss, and that it why the full heat of the Orange Bowl faithful was truly a '12th man' that night.
That roster was LOADED with NFL talent!! You had guys on that team that could have left to go to the League but they stayed because they wanted to win the National Championship!!
And then lost to Ohio state in the Natty 😂 Miami 100% had the best team of all time though. So many amazing players. Wish they were good again at this level
I was at the game and by far the best UM game I’ve ever been too!!! The crowd was electric!!! God I can’t wait to be this good again or as close to this as possible!!!
Look people this may be the best college tam of all time. All these NFLers they had on this team. Too much talent don't hate just watch how good they are.
@@derekd8142 Ken Dorsey only shined because he was surrounded by great talent. Put him behind an average offensive line, and have him throwing to average receivers, and you wouldn't even know who he is. He was a solid game manager, at best.
Not a coincidence that neither the Dolphins nor the Canes have played for a Super Bowl or a national title since each team vacated the Orange Bowl in 1986 and 2007, respectively.
Ken Dorsey was a GREAT leader & all-around player...EVEN THOUGH, he couldn't perform in the pros AS he did in college...IT CANNOT be denied he was a hell of a college football player!!!! #IsaidwhatIsaid!!!!
When the ProStyle Offense is run like this, with so many contribute to catching the ball and running the ball. Mixed with excellent talent, there is the proof of a blowout!! Unbelievable talent at that!! It's like God put that team together!! GO CANES!!!
+Joshua Bro no spread, but you're not the first guy to say that. Miami' been a pro-set team since good ole Howard brought it here. It's the same offense the Dolphins ran when Howard was their OC. It's a great offense! The point is to have success on running the ball and passing the ball. Once you have them tripping all over themselves, the party starts!! Miami runs the pro better than some pro teams! Miami has run the pro since Howard was here, with the exception of the years that Dennis Erickson was here. GO CANES!!!
I remember watching this game at a buddies college house, who played at a d1 major college and him and a few of his teammates just couldn't imagine playing a team so loaded with talent.
Miami dominated the whole 2001 season! I went to every game that season. Even before this game the atmosphere was so electric. Like the whole crowd just new Washington was in for a beat down. Thanks for posting. You would happen to have the whole game?
I love dynasties. Something about them make the sport more exciting than it normally is. Miami, out of all the dynasties in college football over the past 20 or so years (FSU, UF, Alabama, USC), is the one I like the best. Not sure why exactly, but definitely my favorite.
Iike your comment but it haven't even been that long sense we been out of the dynasties because 2001 season is the greatest football team ever but a year back 2000 we beat 4 of the top 4 teams but got robbed by the by the bcs computers and they new we deserved to play in that championship because no body wasn't going to beat us we we just got totally scwed.and 2002 we got scwed by the refs in that championship game we should have won 3 national titles in that 3 year period . But it haven't been that long sense we been out of dynasties it can't 20 years because in the early 2000s we dominated but but the THE CANES ARE bringing the monster days back to college football GO CANES!!!!!!!!!
1. I never said you would have been playing Oklahoma. I simply stated if you did, you wouldnt have won. 2. Oklahoma dominated the big 12 going 13-0 and routing traditional powerhouses such as #1 Nebraska 31-14. Not mention Kansas State. Twice. 3. Oklahoma averaged 37 pts per game while holding opponents to only 14.9. Your canes were roughly equivalent averaging slightly more ppts per game at 42 but giving up 16 pts per game. You played two less top 25 teams and only 2 top 5 teams to Oklahomas 3. Again these are roughly equivalent stats. We had two prominent NFL picks Torrance Marshal (ironically from Miami Dade) and Josh Heupel. These teams were roughly equal. Oklahoma had a strong defense that handled multiple threats. While very impressive, your multi faceted offensive could have been contained by their defense. Your defense also very strong still could have been beaten by Oklahoma's strong pass oriented offense. Given the equal nature of these two teams. Id take the sooners given the canes mishap with Washington and Oklahoma's ability to throw.
stay off that that cocaine because it's one hell of ah drug . I don't want to make them crazy azz comments remember Miami wasn't fsu on offense both sides of the ball would've dominated our secondary on defense was so unreal ed reed would've spooked Oklahoma qb Miami would've stopped a mut whole in them if yal played us regardless if we lost to Washington that year . if we wanted that game we would've shattered them bad . if Miami played Oklahoma in the Orange bowl in 2000 Miami blose Oklahoma out 59-7 not even close .
I have watched almost every video you have uploaded! They are all very well edited and put together. About this team 2000-2002 what impresses me the most is the attitude on every play when a player catches a pass, runs the ball catches an INT the mentality is TD not run 4 or 5 yards and get down its Score Score Score until time is up. That is amazing to me we need to get back to that and it comes down to leaders on the Offense and Defense.
I was at this game and remember looking at the players for Washington on the sidelines with their hands on their hips. They were exhausted and couldn't keep up with Miami's speed and this was early in the game.
Damn, look at Vince Wilfork at 2:58, he's always been a big dude, but it seems like he was even bigger back then. No wonder nobody could run the ball on them
That's what happens when you have a coaching staff that knows how to recruit and they keep getting top classes year after year until the whole team is filled with 5 stars.
Under the lights of the orange bowl number 1 in their sights and 4 national titles already in the books tonight the canes continue their drive for 5!!!!! my favorite sentence in this video!!!! Hopefully Mario Cristobal can get them back serious national title contenders very very soon!! 🏈🌴🏆
Yes I remember well I was in attending at this game, what a blowout you can tell Miami was on a different level back then. They seemed to me nfl level playing college 🤔
38 overall draft picks, 17 first rounders alone, 6 of whole went first round in 2004. Just an embarrassment of riches on this team. They were so good that they had five eventual first round picks (Taylor, Wilfork, Winslow, McGahee, Rolle) as backups.
When I watch his team It’s truly amazing talent that this 2001 team had. And remember this team was built coming off of severe NCAA penalties greatest team that ever played college football
the huskies beat the canes 38 - 20 in 1994 to break the canes 58 game home winning streak.... but you forgot that one huh??? the huskies 1991 team would have blown the canes out by even more... try staying relevant to the time frame specified.... oh yeah, and all time record between the two schools is washington 2 miami 1.... LOL
1994 and 2001 are two different years. Anyone with a brain could see the talent level difference between the 1991 husky team, and the superior athletic talent of the 2001 Miami team. The 1991 husky team had a shitty offense and would have scored maybe a touchdown, and miami would have run back 3 picks for scores. The offense would have spread the field, as if playing Alabama, the current version of the 1991 husky team, and scored 17 more. miami 38, fruskies 7. now try again...
LOL... you are really too stupid to argue with... you jump to a team 10 years later to say the canes would have won in 1991??? talk about NO brain... try sticking with the fact the huskies beat your ass, and broke you streak, in YOUR stadium just 3 years after the 1991 split championship...oh wait... you have no ability to comprehend what I just said as evidenced by the fact that you did not address even ONE thing that I said in my first post... you are pathetic; now get back in your crib honey
Hmm. Obviously I'm dealing with a low-IQ Husky grad, so let me make it simple. Here it goes: The was whether the best team Miami had, 2001, w9uld have beaten the best team the Huskies had, 1991. I proffered my opinion, and you're bringing up a RED HERRING. Don't ever involve yourself in an adult conversation, grasshopper. You come off as a dumbass. LOL Now try again....
This is crazy, that defense had 8 players who went on the become 1st round selections in the NFL. And it isn't even worth mentioning the offense you cant even count the number of guys who not only were drafted but also had/are having quality careers.
Watching this back great memories and triggers renewed optimism. Butch Davis put together some great teams. Talk about character: people forget that he took over the program knowing that sanctions were coming. He took them on and gave us some of the greatest Hurricanes teams ever. Randy Shannon and Larry Coker were good soldiers, but proved to be lousy generals. Can't wait to see what the new general and his soldiers can do at the U.
Shannon actually did a lot for the program. He may not have seen on-field success like his predecessors but he really cleaned the program up and restored credibility
Dam MIAMI was loaded they should have had 3 championships in a row the BCS screwed them in 99 let FSU play OU for it beat Nebraska for it then in 2001 the CANES were flat out cheated with a phantom flag to give it to OHIO ST.
@@dr.pendyke4887 Unlike Miami, OU went undefeated. Also OU beat the number 10., 2., and 1. teams in a row all by double digits. Then they had to beat the same number 2. again, then FSU-only one of those games was at home. Miami barely got by FSU while OU beat them by double digits as well. They also lost to Washington so if head to head is what you're going by then Washington should have played OU. You can't just go with head to head when it favors you then disregard it when it doesn't. Miami has an argument for being the best that season but OU has a stronger one.
This makes up for the time the Canes and Huskies shared the national title ten years prior in '91, the Huskies ending Miami's 58 home game winning streak in '94 and the Huskies giving Miami it's only loss of the season denying the Canes a shot at the national title the year before in Y2K. Oh yes and might I say how sweet it is for Miami to gain vengeance on those Pups after all those setbacks they suffered to those Pups during all that time leading up to this Saturday night massacre in 2001. No one was gonna stand in Miami's way that year. No one!
I know it's hard for you to understand but I'm a Gator, Cane and Nole fan. I've been rooting and going to Cane games since Schnellenberger, I married a Gator...always loved Bowden.....born and raised in SW Florida. I'm allowed to root for all 3 schools as well as UCF and USF.
i live in Ohio, and i remember being pissed that this game wasn't being televised in our region, as i was naive enough to think "hey, washington always plays miami tough, they should make this a good game tonight". As the score updates kept rolling in at the bottom of the screen of the game i was watching, i wasn't so pissed anymore, realizing it was an utter blowout lol
The '76 Steelers and the '93 Cowboys are the two best football teams I ever watched. This team is better, relative to its competition, than those teams were.
