Thanks for this video! My gas filler started leaking and needed to be replaced and I bought this same part so the video was extremely helpful

Thanks for this video! I just did this exact job with this same aftermarket part and this was extremely helpful. I had evap leak codes and noticed this pipe was crazy rusty like yours. For those that are curious about doing this, I'd like to add a few thoughts.' 1. This job took longer and was more challenging than I expected. 2. The part needed modification as you explain and I did the same (24:27). I did do one extra thing. I drilled through the bracket to meet the hole behind and ran a screw through it all rather than the zip tie idea. 3. All my bolts pretty much broke much as yours did. I think I saved one. It doesn't matter for anyone who might be concerned. 4. I found getting the pipe neck out of the rubber hose from the gas tank very challenging. Took a long time to get it loose and out. Putting it back in was also a challenge. I put a very light coating of grease around the neck to help that and it did. 5. When you are wrestling it all in, be sure to watch that the rubber gasket that goes between the top of the neck and the body is properly in place. With all my positioning down below it got dislodged and when I went to finish, I realized, and I had to take it all apart again and make sure that gasket was seated properly. There were curse words about that! 6. You'll need a few screws and nut that aren't included (because you'll break the old ones). I think it was M6x1.0 that I got. I got stainless screws and everything got anti-seize going back in. Thanks for a super helpful video!

Holy hell! Very helpful video! I own a 2006 Subaru Forester and looking at the rust on the fuel filler neck in the video makes me want to go check mine but at the same time I’m afraid to look because my car has a lot of rust, which is a long story, I do know I need to replace my fuel filler shut off valve.

Great video, thanks! The only part that baffled me was getting the new pipe into the fuel hose. If I aligned the neck up top first, there was just no way I could get it. I had to let the new filler neck kind of flop around, get the bottom properly inserted into the gas tank hose, and then wrestle with it but that did work for me. I don't know how much OEM costs, but the spectra one I used was close, but didn't fit quite perfectly either. Your video was a great help though!!!

If I may a suggestion, when backing off these rusty bolts, it is always good to retighten then back off and then retighten all they way. I had taken a Metals class in HS and when I did a tap I did not do that and I broke the tap. So, always loosen and tighten all the way till it is off OR on.

Thanks for the video mate. Just been gifted a Forester and found a large rusted hole in the filler neck. This video is just what i needed right now :). Quick question, did you drain the tank before doing this?

Thanks! No need to drain fuel other than not doing the job on a tank filled to the brim.
